  1. Well, I can't speak for them properties of the oil. Cause I don't believe in all that jazz. So, I tend to stay away from the TAL's. There are a few I have as superstitious good luck. I'm like a living catch 22, aren't I? I got this in an ebay win, and decided to give 'er a go.

As a scented oil, it's rather odd. Not in a, "EW! Hot dogs!" kind of way, but in a "What the hell is in there?" kind of way. Initially I got menthol. As a lingering scent I smell pine. On top of that it's something numbing. That's the best way to explain it. Maybe the scent reminds me of something that has that property? Hmm. Odd.

  2. I really wanted to try this and was SO excited to find it in an eBay auction I won! It somehow slithered in there unbeknownst to me. I mainly wanted to try it based on reviews, and I'm glad I did. I had some misgivings. In the imp, it smells very head shoppy - which I usually love, but this was kind of like cheap incense head shop type. But I perservered! On it went, along with Hod and Lyonesse, which I just finished reviewing. I remembered I had some Rakshasa on the left wrist, and smelled it, fully expecting to find cheap head shop. Whoa! I get sandalwood, rose and lemon! It's lovely! My most favorite thing is when I get an imp of something, try it, love it, review it and find that it's still in the GC. YAY!!!

  3. Hod, Hod, Hod. What's all the fuss about Hod? It's delish, that's fur sure! The first reviewer on here said it was a milkier version of O. I'd have to say I kind of agree. The only thing is, I generally don't like milky scents, so I'd have to say that on me, it smells a little nuttier than O. O usually sticks in the back of my throat for awhile. This does not. I love it!

  4. Lyonesse is just so so so GOOD! Mild and weak perfume florals. Vanilla, like cooking vanilla, which is a weird scent to find in a BPAL oil. I need a bottle of this and it WILL go on my next order!

  5. Ok, the funny thing about finding myself in the posession of a bottle of Aeaea is that it was among the first bottles I ever ordered from the lab. At the time, to my untrained nose I was like, "EEww! Ack! Bwahh!" and I swapped it right away. Now that I have another chance, however, I'm re-evaluating my position. Here's what it reminds me of: elementary school. Pencil shavings. Hand soap. Inexpensive perfume. Smelly stickers. Where's that dill coming from?!? This is not a bad smell on me, but not a smell I'm looking to recreate. So I'll keep it because I'm a hoarding scent whore, but I'll not be wearing it anytime soon. The end. :P

  6. Reminds me of a minty Snow White. The mint reminds me of winter, with that biting coldness the winter wind frequently has. The essence of Snow White reminds me of Christmas! I don't know if it's because that's when I associate the scent coming out, or if the scent literally makes me remember something from childhood holidays. I like Snow White very much, but with the addition of mint, I'm not so sure. So-so on the "how do I liketh thee?" scale.

  7. I love love love this! In fact, I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet! Got it as an imp first, then hunted down a bottle. What I like best about this is the overall bouquet of florals. I've tried L'Autunno and have the soap version of L'Estate. I didn't participate in the 4 Seasons Inquest because none of the notes appealed to me as a mixture in any one of those scents. But sometimes, something just falls into your lap (imp of La Primavera) and it is just what you love. For me, that's this. It reminds me of a perfume I wore as a teenager, although I can't put my finger on exactly what that is. Maybe I like it so much because it's nostalgic to me. But I really DO love it. Beautiful floral bouquet. Just perfect!

  8. I really smell the apple both in the bottle and on me. After several hours I also get a peachy kind of scent. I liked this so-so, but much prefer La Primavera. Mmmmm nom nom!

    ADDED Nov. 2:

    Bottle: Apple, spice, fig

Applied: Incense and smoke, with bitter fruitness.

Dry down: Bitter apple, with some dry smokiness. I don't really like this at all. I thought it'd be a homerun with the fig, because I usually like figgy scents. But something (apples?) makes this go all weird on me.

  9. First on, I get something almost metallic. No booze. No tobacco. After 5 mins. I smell mint mixed in with some drugstore variety fresh deodorant. The off brand kind. Another 20 mins. and somewhere underneath wafts a memory of cinnamon. Where'd that come from?!? An hour later, mint's gone, cinnamon's gone, I get a tiny bit of cocoa (tobacco sometimes smells like cocoa on me) and light, light men's cologne. This is just a weird blend!

  10. I love orange, but maybe not in perfume form. When I opened this, it smelled nothing like what I thought an orange blossom should. After about an hour it has become more orangy, but I guess this is just not for me! I'll save it, though, cause it's in a pretty, tarted impy.

  11. It is so weird that this smelled like dusty roses on me, based on the note descriptions! I tried it last night with the intention of reviewing it today (at work :P ). I sniffed, and sniffed, let dry, sniff some more, Ooo! An hour went by! Sniff, sniff sniff. I got roses, old, dusty roses. After a signifigant 4 hours of dry down I also got some candle wax. Weird, eh?

  12. Ok, work with me on this: remember when you were a little girl (assuming your a fem) and you went to the toy store? Mom got you a dolly? A rubber one, the baby doll type. Can you remember that smell? Rubbery plastic? That's EXACTLY what the under note of this smells like on me and I have to say.....

    I LOVE IT!!!!

When I swiped it on, I thought, mmmmmm, Midway with something else delicious! If I had another baby, and I was a perfume goddess, I'd make a scent that I loved to celebrate my knew little buddy. (I had boys, so they're all little buddies to me). I gots me a bottle and I'm not afraid to horde it. :P

  13. This is really, really nice! First on, it's strong. Maybe a bit stronger than what I'd like. But it quickly mellows to something creamy, floraly, vanilla-y. It is really soft, but definetly there - unlike some where soft just means it fades quickly. I love this and am SO glad I bought a bottle! Yay!

  14. I used to have a bottle of Olbas Oil. I swiped it on my forehead and sinuses when I was congested. This makes Olbas Oil look like a wus! Holy crap! I'm literally crying right now. It was the sinus part that put me over the top.

That aside, it's freaking wonderful! Very fresh and minty, a sharp, zing! scent.

  15. Weird. It smells very cherry in the imp. When I swiped it on, it actually made my skin feel warm. After 10 mins. or so, the cherry is all gone and I get soap. And my skin seems to eat it, too! O poopy. What a bummer.

Edited to add: I wanted to also mention that when I put it on I got a grape underlying layer. Depending on which way I twist my wrist, I still get that a bit here and there, poking out from underneath. It's very fleeting and brief.

  16. CMXCVIII (999)

No idea. Vaugely fruity. I bought 4 of these, and put them all on different parts of my arms today when the package arrived. There was really only 1 that I didn't like. But now, they're all mixed up, so I'm trying on the backs of my hands. As this dries, I remember now....it's the ROSE one! Very nice rose, but it has to warm up on the skin before it blooms. Has a little bit of fruit in there, too, and something else warm.

    MXXVIII (1028)

Kind of like fruit, candy sweet fruit, with a whisper of star gazer lily. Technically, I do NOT like star gazer lily, because it smells like hot dogs to me. However, now that I have spilled MXXVIII on myself, my robe and all my fingers (and it is also on every letter on the keyboard as I type), it's growing no me. As if I have a choice, right?

    CMXCIII (993)

Toilet bowl cleaner and star gazer lily. Medicinal dog shampoo. Flea dip.

Dear MXXVI, oh, how I love thee! (1026)

Vanilla. An underlying layer of Antique Lace(ish)-ness. Tobacco. LOVE IT!!!

Now, who wants to trade for my dog shampooo? :P

  17. I was really hoping that this would be my signature scent - but it's not. In fact, it gives me a pounding headache! Apples smell lovely, but there is a laundry softener undertone that drowns out most everything else. I'm sure this smells killer on lotsa peeps, just not me. :P

  18. Gennivre; Hyson tea leaf, pale mint, sugar cane, orange blossom, lemongrass, and honey.

Xanthe: Guava, orange peel, white pepper, spun sugar and apple blossom.

Candy butcher: Dark chocolate with a heavy cream undertone.

Theodosius: Earl Grey tea leaves, a white fougere, jasmine leaf, pearlescent white musk, and vanilla bean.

Zarita: white carnation, iris, orange blossom, and sugared cream.

Agrat-bat-mahlaht Amber, cream accord, white honey, apple blossom, skin musk, caramel, and teak.

Daiyu: Moroccan jasmine, chrysanthemum, tea leaf, white musk, and acai berry.

Eisheth Zenunim: Honey, ambergris, neroli, white peach, patchouli, and cocoa absolute.

Gwyneth Rose otto, tonka, orchid, Calla lily, skin musk, coconut, and Spanish sage.

Torture Queen. White amber, vanilla musk, white tea, ambergris, gardenia, and chrome.

Xanthe smells like guava bubblegum with pepper.

Zarita smells a lot like one of the Pumpkins to me.

Daiyu smells a LOT like Bordello but with a twist. Bordello is more pipe smoke, while Daiyu is more fruity.

Torture Queen is very main stream perfume, but I love it.

  19. I like this. It's very rich and thick. Wet. Like wet leaves slapping you in the face as you run through the woods. Woody. Spicey! Something citrus. Green herbal. And don't ask me why, but I get just a little poke here and there of chocolate. Like Lump of Coal chocolate. Then it fizzes away quickly. Do I smell cardamom? (come'ere and smell my wrist!) I also smell some baby powder lurking underneath, but that's ok. It smells very good! Complex, a well blended scent.
