  1. I did not think I would like this. That's why I didn't order a bottle when PS&RF splashed onto the scene. BUT, I got a sniffie of it today and I really like it, surprisingly!!

It's floral but not cloying "FLOWERS!" scent. It also reminds me of machinery. Like well oiled machinery, I keep picturing an elementary school classroom. What smells like this in there?!? Electric pencil sharpener? Don't know. But I like it, so much so, in fact, that I'm adding it to my bottle list.

  2. I don't get any mint at all from this, and I am not a mint fan so I generally tend to pick it out right away. It's not bad, but it's very strong on several notes that I never prefer, such as moss. It's mountain fresh! On my wrist it remains the same as the imp, however, after about an hour it morphed into powder.

  3. I usually have trouble with roses going funky on my skin, either too wet and rotten or too plastic. But Peacock Queen is juuuuuust perfect. This reminds me of VS "Her Majesty's Rose" perfume from back in the day. I will say that the imp I have is te original version, and I have a bottle of the newer release in 07. The imp has aged quite nicely, but the bottle has a little while to go to catch up.

  4. By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla.

It has taken me almost 2.5 years to develop a love for Snake Oil. It all started w/ Experimental Blend #1, which I love. Then I discovered Snake Charmer which I loved even more! After that, I figured, what the hell, might as well try Snake Oil. And I love it, too! It's strong and it makes me feel sexy and in control when I wear it.

And I know this is terrible to admit, but when I have business meetings with a certain accountant I dislike, I wear Snake Charmer and rub my wrist on his drinking glass. At least if I can't charm him, I bother him!

  5. This was my first Salon purchase, and one of the first BPAL purchases I made. I can't believe it's taken me this long to review it! It starts out as apple for me, with some fruity undertones like a fruit stand in the sun, all the fruits mixing together. There are also some background florals, but very light. This one stays true, from bottle to drydown, at least on me. It is very unusual, and I don't wear it often, but I definetly like it.

  6. Resurrected version:

There is just something about Snake Charmer that reminds me of visiting my parents in Florida. As soon as I smell it, it's like instant vacation! I get snake oil and coconut, a smidge powdery. I'm a fan of original SC, and love this version, but will probably love it even more after it's aged a while.

  7. Lemon Lime Goodness! I love this! This is what I think the Absinthe scents should smell like, although I don't know why, because it smells nothing like what Absinthe should smell like. Ya follow me on all that word diarrhea? This is the first lemon I've smelt that doesn't have cleaning fluid undertones. Drat! Why can't the stuff I love be available in bottle?

  8. Interesting that a lot of people get peach from this. While I do get a ripe, juicy fruit (ahem - peach?) I also smell strawberry! Where's that coming from? Has great staying power, I could smell it a full day after initial application. This is what I think Strawberry Moon should smell like. :P

  9. Very faint. I can barely smell anything! :P

All I smell is faint woodiness.

EDITED: I want to note that after a few minutes this has warmed up considerably on my skin. Very faint vanilla. Mild woodiness. Based on others reviews, I was thinking this would somehow be a Super Bordello. Hmmmm.....

  10. I smelled this a few years ago when it wasn't slated to return any time soon. I've described it to a fellow forumite as being something I dislike so much I like it. It's a weird scent! I have 3 bottles of Snow White from previous years. I just received my 08 version yesterday. I think I like it fresh best! New from the bottle it is wonderful! And it doesn't go sour funky on my skin. Just beautiful, white florals.

As a side note, I love coconut. I've done forum and BPAL website searches looking specifically for coconut. But I get NO coconut whatsover from Snow White, not any versions. Hmmmm. Weird!

  11. I got Lick It One More Time last year and wasn't too wowed by it. I think I was still developing my BPAL nose! This year, Lick It Like You Mean It .... well....means a lot more to me! I love it! It doesn't smell candy caney, but I do get a shot of pepermint and then the lovely vanilla underlay.

  12. Gelt

I love this! In the bottle it smells like a mild cocoa liqueor. On my skin, it's just beautiful, powdery cocoa. I was a bit concerned about it morphing after being on my skin for awhile, but all it does is tune down to cocoa powder.

  13. I think that had I gotten a lab fresh bottle of this, it'd probably have smelled different. A year ago or so I inquired from a fellow forumite on swapping for a bottle of SM. She said that her's ad "faded". Not knowing what SM smells like, I figured that'd be ok! Well, the swap came and went, and I missed the boat. Last week I got a bottle of SM from an ebay auction (Lucyintheskywithdemons, a fellow forumite).

This would probably smell better with more strawberry, but I get very faint strawberry and even some cherry (weird). When I initially applied it, it smelled like cherry cough syrup.

Dried down, it is very light strawberry, almost like an old strawberry candle. I'd give this another shot if the lab offers one up on ebay, but as is, I wouldn't wear it for everyday.

  14. I've smelled this before as a frimp and stoppered it up quickly. Today, however, I was feeling like I just wanted to try something new. I put my hand in my "c" baggie, and out came Catherine.

Something abuot this blend reminds me of my teenage years. I keep thinking I must've worn something similar to this back then. It's actually quite different and good! Very strong rose. I don't know what fresh rosemary smells like, but that may be the herbal note coming through. No real presence of orange blossom, which I do like. Overall, I'd not purchase a bottle because when would I wear it enough to have a bottle?!? But a nice dance into nostalgia.

  15. There was a "Thirteen" Version 3.5: 7/13/07-7/15/07 (Pink Label). Maybe the person who decanted messed up on the month. The notes in the one I mentioned are:

A base of cocoa absolute and white chocolate with thirteen baneful and beneficial bits including vanilla bean, white ginger, orchid, golden peach, massoia bark, clove, honey, and starfruit.

What do you think? Could that be it?

I found it by looking under "search", then typed in "thirteen", filtered by selcting "reviews" and then hit "title only".

I did the same thing for the word "pink" and Thirteen came up both times.

  16. I simply cannot believe that I have yet to review this! It is my favoritest favorite.

Vanilla. Dust. White florals. Warm, smooth, like a fine liquor. Goes on strong, and fades slowly. When faded, it still remains true to the original scent, which is rather unusual (at leas I think). I currently have 3 bottles of this and an unknown number of imps. Must....have.....more.....antique lace! :P

  17. I really like this! Like, BOTTLE like this! I usually (well always) stay from anything w/ grass. Or dirt, for that matter. No dirt here (just wanted to clarify. But dirt, grass, I made an association). Anyway, I almost had to force myself to put this on. It was SO strong in the imp. But I dabbed it on my knee and went about my business for a few minutes. On the dry down, it's a nice floral. Unique! Not a headache floral, but a sweet, calm floral. I'm so glad I tried this!

  18. Minus the honey, this would be lovely combination of scents. I don't like honey. Period. Not to eat, not to wear. I read that a lot of people love this scent, however, and I can see why. It's very complex. Underneath the HONEY I can smell flowers, HONEY, winey grapes and, of course, HONEY.

  19. This is such an odd blend! It smells like autumn candles, pumpkin, with something very clean underneath. A strange mixture. While I like it, I would never wear it as it's too strong and masculine for me. It would be very nice in an oil burner, however.
