  1. In Imp: Maraschino cherries, but not like Eclipse which is REALLY REALLY maraschino cherry. (and which I LOVE, I might add)

Wet: Overpowering maraschino cherries with a rose undertone. Not overkill but pretty close.

½ hr. Dry Down: Really good! Charming, rosey, still smells like cherries, also like baby wash.

2 hr. Dry Down: Quiet and fading, but smells clean and warm. I really like this! I don’t get milk but I can smell the honey and rose, along with a little cherry. I would (will) buy a bottle of this!

  2. In Imp: Perm solution. I can’t do it. Ok, for the sake of reviews, I will.

Wet: Better! I get a little lilac, although that’s not a main ingredient. Magnolia, that’s what it is.

½ hr. Dry Down: I get a little plumeria although this really is not a good mixture of scents for me.

Overall: I can’t wear this one, it’s just not working out. I need to wash off. I wish I got more pear and plumeria, because I love those scents, but me and La Belle ABD just aren’t getting along. This goes into the swap pile. I'm so bummed, everyone else seems to get pear pear pear and it just doesn't agree with me. It must be my skin.

  3. In Imp: HXC Porta Potty. (Hard X Core)

Wet: Maraschino cherries! I need to BATHE in this! I need to eat a maraschino cherry RIGHT NOW! I can almost taste them, see the glass jar with the red juice….. (I know exactly where I keep these in the fridge and am using all my will power not to raid the jar!) It’s the bitter almond that I smell.

½ Dry Down: I’ve got the heliotrope and frankincense now. Powdery but not in a strong way, kind of like what I’d imagine a lady in Tuscany would smell like. Don’t ask me how I know, but that’s the picture I get.

#2 just walked in and said, “What smells like turds?” I’m hoping he isn’t smelling Eclipse, but rather a combination of all 30 scents my neice has put on her arms and legs!

1 hr. Dry Down: I get the cinnamon now! Cherries are completely gone. I NEED COVET MUST HAVE a bottle of this!

  4. In the bottle: I am so excited to try this! It is a "me" scent: citrus and tea are my faves.

Wet: Exactly what I thought it would be - strong but in a clean, fresh way. I can see how some people would not like this if they like more dark or deep scents. This is a very surface scent, not overpowering but intense.

1/2 Dry Down: Same. More tea coming out now and lemon taking a backseat.

3 hrs.: Sadly fading! I would need a bottle of this so I could apply frequently because I love the initial scent. This will be on my next big order as a bottle.

  5. Wet: Sweet roses. Definetly the rose with an underlying sweet scent. I'm not getting any apple or lemon.

1/2 hr. Dry Down: This kind of smells like Suave hairspray I used to use in the 90's. Not that this is a bad thing, it's very reminiscent to me. Remember big hair? This smells like big hair to me! I smell a little apple-ness right now under the rose, which is still very prevelant. This is really a nice combo of smells! I would probably not get this in a big bottle though, because it would be too overwhelming on any more than one appendage, which an imp works just fine for.

    ADDED 1/25/09:

Apples, lemon and rose. A nice and sweet combination. Initially I get all rose rose rose. But after an hour, it settles and interestingly, I can smell each note in turn. I like this but not enough for a bottle. A good blend, though.

  6. Ahhhhh, VELVET! I LOVE VELVET!

in the bottle: Smells like brownie mix from a box! Yummmm!

wet: Still smells like a brownie.

dry down: I'm starting to smell more of a powerdy scent here. Weird. Chocolate/powder. But in a good way.

1/2 hr. dry down: Smells like a freshly bathed baby dipped in chocolate. Mmmmmm, babies.....Mmmmmm, chocolate! Who doesn't love babies and chocolate?

completely dried: Chocolate smell is gone. Replaced by powder with a little anise in the background. Different but in a good way. The top notes remind me of expensive perfumes but the underlying powder cheapens it a bit, which I like. Really different and like nothing I've smelled so far.

I would like to add a brief addendum to my last post, and maybe someone else has had this experience:

As I'm working at my desk I keep getting whiffs of cocoa coming from the hand that I swiped the Velevt onto. Deep, dark, delicious cocoa. Based on that alone, I'd definetly wear this again and frequently.

  7. Just got it today! I love the name and the lore of Absinthe so I was super excited to try this oil. In fact, it was the first one I've EVER tried of BPAL!

WET: Strong. Too strong. Smelled like cleaning fluids on my skin. I almost couldn't stand it.

DRY: Lemony, anise-y. I like it better now.

1/2 HR: This is something I'd wear in a church. I know that sounds weird, but that's what it reminds me of. And I don't even go to church! But if I did, I'd slather on my Absinthe. It reminds me of something old yet with a little lemony zip.

OVERALL: I like it! I'd have to have the right occasion, but I'd definetly wear it again.

  8. Anyone know a BPAL that would be similar to Sensi by Armani? It is so unique, warm and deep and it lasts all day. I always get compliments when I wear it.

Also, my signature scent as a teen was Victoria's Secret - plain. In the fancy little squat bottle with the blue top. It's hard to find anymore. Any BPAL's match up with that?

Interestingly, I found a bottle of VS about a year and was soooooo excited! I bought it, got out in the car, sprayed to high heaven - and it didn't smell nearly as good as I remembered! I guess after 10 years and 2 kids, my skin has changed. Bwwwaaaaaahhhh!!! I loved that stuff! Anyone who knows a BPAL scent close to Sensi or VS?
