In the bottle: Fresh, green, citrusy floral. Maybe a little spicy-carnation. A touch soapy. Wet: Grapefruit zest, an aquatic note (giving that clean soapiness), carnation, heliotrope, other pastel flowers. Bright and refreshing. Dry: Fresh, citrusy light, feminine florals. Clean but no longer soapy. And I can finally pin down another floral...daffodil! This makes it sort of creamy and golden. Some honeysuckle too, maybe. Summary: Crisp, citrusy floral that morphs into a slightly fruity, spicy, and creamy blend of white and yellow flower, fresh green notes. It's gorgeously bright and feminine. Decent throw, moderate lasting power. It may be a bit too generic for me, but I'll hang onto my imp for now.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

In the bottle: Citrusy galangal, something juicy and fruity (red currant? elderberry?), slightly sweet, light frankincense. Wet: Dirtier, more incensey from the frankincense, and strongly earthy-rooty from the spikenard. Slightly bitter-minty hyssop. Galangal almost completely gone. Juicy fruit note much lighter but still present; sweeter. Dry: Incredibly slow-drying oil. The juicy berry note is regaining tartness and amping, yay! Unfortunately, I strongly dislike the sweet-rooty frankincense and spikenard notes still present. The bitterness of the green hyssop is a pleasant counterpoint to the fruit, however. Summary: Slightly spicy incense, sweet earthy roots, tart juicy berries, and a hint of bitter mint. Too syrupy and dank for me. Very strong throw, good lasting power.

    Frumious Bandersnatch

In the bottle: Strong, spicy carnation, sweet fruit, a hint of sort of sharp green-floral. Wet: Spicy carnation and candy-sweet plum; fainter fresh crysanthenum. I think there is cinnamon in this too, it's more than just carnation-spice. Dry: Sweet sugared plums, cinnamon, a hint of carnation and warm musk. Spicy. Good throw, great lasting power. Too sweet, too spicy. Not a fan.

    Eternal

In the bottle: Fresh, delicate green-white florals which I do not recognize - I'm guessing cyclamen and stephanotis. Wet: Headier, like lily of the valley, and the gardenia is definitely emerging. Still some fresh notes. Dry: Gardenia. It's one of the nicer gardenias (almost citrusy), but it's totally taken over, as usual. Summary: In the final drydown, it's sharp, strong, soapy, heady gardenia. Moderate throw, crazy lasting power - won't wash off! Gah! Never any rose or heliotrope, both of which I love.

    Imp

In the bottle: Sweet and dark. Patchouli, musk, peach, and amber. Wet: Reminds me a ton of smut - that sweet, sort of boozy musk. But the patchouli gives it an earthiness, and fruit note is definitely a light white peach note, like very juicy ripe fruit, but delicate simultaneously. Some powdery warmth from amber. Dry: The white peach note has amped, and the boozy sweetness has faded - thankfully for me. I love the patchouli in this - the light earthy, not the dirty incensey type. The amber is there but light. Summary: Earthy patchouli, almost soil-like, sweet white peach, deep, rich musk, and just a hint of amber warmth. Strong throw. This is too dark a blend for me. I definitely recommend it to Smut lovers, though!
  6. Imp (Diabolus) reminds me a bunch of Smut! (I've only tried 06 year fyi) Gennivre (Carnival Diabolique) reminds me of Litha. Persephone (Excolo) reminds me of Libra 07. Kali (Excolo) has the same rose note as Peacock Queen 07, but is much more complex. The Apothecary (Illyria) reminds me of Ebisu. 51 (Wanderlust) reminds me of Pollution (Good Omens). Tweedledee (Mad Tea Party) reminds me of a less foody version of Diary of a Lovestruck Cannibal. Robin Goodfellow (Illyria) reminds me of Buck Moon. Sea of Glass reminds me of Archangel Winter.

    Othello

In the bottle: Sweet, deep musk and roses. Wet: A bit powdery; I suspect some amber too because this has a very warm feel. Delicious, sexy musk. I can tell that one rose is more dusty, and another more fresh. Dry: The same; perhaps a tad sweeter - almost too much so. I'm not getting any spices, though there is a rich, faintly incense-y hint. Summary: Sweet, rich musk, warm, powdery golden amber, and rose, with the distant suggestion of incense. Strong throw and lasting power. Too sweet and powdery for me, but well-blended.

    Cathode

In the bottle: Salty-soapy mint, ozone, and moss. Fresh and masculine. Wet: MINT. Peppermint and pennyroyal (ala Mad Hatter) for sure. I think the third, much fainter, is spearmint. There's the tinge of ozone, but not much scent. Ambergris is sort of soapy and warm and distant. Can't detect moss. Dry: Sadly I am not a fan of pennyroyal which is the strongest mint note - I can barely detect anything else with it bullying this blend. The peppermint and ambergris if I truly strain. Summary: The mints settle down a bit with time, but it's still primarily pennyroyal over faint, salty, soapy warm ambergris, which is a weird mix. It feels disjointed. Strong throw and lasting power.

    Cobra Lily

In the bottle: Slightly powdery and green lilies. Potent. Wet: Greener, fresher, gentler. New pale green leaves on top of those lilies. An almost citrusy note, like certain magnolias. Dry: It's going sweet and spicy - bizarre! Cinnamon, and maybe nutmeg? Also, the green note has turned bitter and sharp. Summary: Sharp, acrid greenery, powdery lilies, sickly sweet spice. Very strong throw. Off to sink!

    Osun

In the bottle: Honey, bubblegummy, artificial sweet cherry, mint, ozone. Wet: A warm floral and some herbal notes - much less sweet! Still some of that cherry note, but faintly. Less ozone, and mint, but both still present. Much more pleasant than in the bottle. Dry: Ugh, getting sweeter again. It's honeyed, candied cherries and sunflowers - maybe a bit of rose. Warm, golden and sugary. Mint, ozone, herbs - all gone. Summary: Powdery sunflower, rose & sweet artificial cherry. Decent throw, strong lasting power.

    Kali

In the bottle: Chocolate, cinnamon, honey with hints of citrusy hibiscus, osmanthus and rose. Wet: Rose, chocolate, honey, red wine, osmanthus, fresh hibiscus, resiny balsam, and a spicy herbal note. Complex, tasty floral. Thankfully, no cinnamon. Dry: The lush, sophisticated rose from Peacock Queen 07 - amped wonderfully on my skin - with delicious but not foody hints of honey and cocoa. Those others scents noted in the previous stage ares still present, but have blended into a homogenous base. Summary: I adore this - I could bathe it. I can't stop sniffing my arm and I had no idea I'd love this so. The rose remains strong but so does the delicious golden honey and smooth dark chocolate. The wine amps up eventually too, a deep, ripe, sensual note, and woodsy musk emerges. While I find this a very nighttime, luxurious scent, evoking dark, soft purpley-red velvets, it's kept fresh and intriguing by the hibiscus and other floral notes, and the fainter herbal whiffs. Kali is one of my favourite goddesses, and this is Kali in her maiden form, to me - Kalika the seductress, of creation and energy. Of course, this has amazing throw and lasting power.

    Severin

In the bottle: Sweet, citrusy, and yes...leather! Bizarre! Wet: The tea is more apparent, sort of warm and planty. The citrus sharp and bright and definitely bergamot. The leather is an almost impossible scent to describe - it's almost artificial, or plasticky, but not quite. There's a rainy ozone note too. Dry: Ugh, this is going oddly minty, in sort of sickly-sweet way. And I don't like that plasticky leather note. Off to sink. Summary: Reminds me of Usher, but if Usher were toxic, evil, and sickly.

    Machu Picchu

In the bottle: Tart exotic fruits, light tropical florals, ozone, a hint of warm amber. Wet: Sweet, almost too much so; heavily fruity. Citrus, passionfruit, papaya, mango, maybe even pineapple. Orchid, but also more delicate flowers, maybe some hybiscus and plumeria. The ozone is very light, and the amber is distant. Dry: Tart, juicy tropical fruit, soft, feminine florals, a bit of warmth from the amber, but amazingly, this is not powdery or dry - it's still lush and fresh. Green in a way that is not sharp but is pleasantly planty. Summary: Some woods and musk emerge, blending with the ripe tropical fruits and lush feminine florals. A very warm, sexy, summertime scent. Definitely one to retry - and the first amber blend that has worked on me at all!

    Val Sans Retour

In the bottle: Fresh, sweetly green, and sparkling! Wet: Sweeter, in a not quite fruity way - bitter orange perhaps. Headier, but without losing that crisp- sparkling quality. There's a mild herbal-medicinal note, but I sort of like it. Tea tree oil perhaps? Or something in the evergreen family? I'm not sure because usually I don't like those notes but the one here is very gentle. It's not an in your face sort of menthol. Dry: Okay, on the drydown, which occurs very quickly, this loses virtually all sweetness. I'm left with a light, sparkling foresty/outdoorsy scent - the first fall of snow in the forest, on a cool but sunny day. This could work on either sex, I think, but would probably be optimal on a man. Summary: I'm really curious about the sparkling note. I've smelled it in Beltane as well, for which there is also no scent detail given. Any clue what these two might have in common? I am also sad to note that this oil has almost no lasting power on me. It's barely detectable after 15 minutes.

    Embalming Fluid

A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon. In the bottle: Green tea, lemon, white musk! Sharp and fresh and sour. Wet: Almost piney in its greenness; astringent. Green tea reigns. Lemon and white musk linger just behind. The aloe is much fainter and lighter and softer. Dry: Clean, bracing. All the notes are still going strong, but have blended together nicely for a smoother effect. I'm recalling Tweedledum, the Spell of Amorous Love, and Phantasm. Summary: Powerful, invigorating green tea, lemon, and white musk - along with some cologne-y white flowers. The aloe is much vaguer. Crazy strong throw and lasting power. Unisex. Too piercing for me.

    April Fool

In the bottle: Spicy-herbal-rooty in a sharp manner, floral (rose), with tart tangerine and fruity huckleberry. Intriguing. Wet: More herbal (definitely that fool's parsley), even astringent, but a fair deal of tangerine too. The rose, lemon blossom, and huckleberry are there but fainter. Dry: The overly strong green-herbal rooty note has faded, and the huckleberry has amped! The tangerine remains strong, and the lemon blossom has emerged further - and it's proper blossom, not fruit. The rose is a bit on the powdery side. Summary: It develops wonderfully after an hour on my skin, into a gorgeous blend of fruity-tart huckleberry and tangerine, with light lemon blossom and slightly powdery rose. Only a faint rooty-green tinge of the parsley remains, and a hint of an earthy note emerges to ground the blend. Great throw and lasting power.

    Bon Vivant

In the bottle: Tart, fruity, sparkling strawberry and champagne grapes. Not overwhelmingly sweet. Wet: Effervescent, clean, fresh fruit. The strawberry note makes me think of wild strawberries - it's tarter and more interesting than conventional. Not artificial or cloying. Faint floral note. Dry: It is a bit candy-ish, in sour way - like Sweet Tarts, but not *quite* so foody. I suspect the flower note, which has amped, is rose - it adds a delicate feminine touch. Summary: Powdery florals (rose, and maybe violet), tart wild strawberries, sparkling fresh champagne. Surprisingly pleasant. Good throw and lasting power. Too powdery and sweet for me, though.

    Blue Fire

In the bottle: Strongly herbal-juniper gin, fruity blueberry, faint lemongrass. Wet: Blueberry (very natural, not artificial or too sweet) a bit stronger, but still heavy on the gin. Lemongrass still very faint. Papaya if I strain. Dry: Slow-drying oil. Strong, junipery-herbal gin. Sparkling, boozy. Blueberry in the background. Summary: Junipery gin. Some faintish fruity blueberry but only if I sniff closely. It's an invigorating, almost masculine scent. Good throw and lasting power, but too much juniper for me.

    Opuhi

In the bottle: Foody, sweet french vanilla - almost caramel-like - with a hint of underlying, fresh ginger blossom. Wet: Creamy vanilla ice cream with invigorating, refreshing ginger. Sparkling. Surprisingly fresh and much less sweet than in the the bottle. Dry: Dries and fades in potency rapidly, and becomes less sparkling, a little more creamy. The fresh ginger note is fading and the vanilla note is amping. Summary: Vanilla completely takes over and does that cloying, overwhelming thing it's so prone to on my skin. Had to go wash off. Medium throw and lasting power, otherwise.

    Te Po

In the bottle: Rum, almond liquor, cola, cherry. I totally get the cherry coke thing others have mentioned. Sweet and strong and boozy, but oddly sparkling. Wet: Almond extract and sparkling cherry coke. Totally. Maybe a hint of citrus (both lime and orange), but this is fairly dark and syrupy. I'm not getting any vodka or mint. Dry: Whoa ginger, like crazy. Still strong on the almond, rum, and cherry coke. A bit sweet, but more spicy-foody now. No more citrus notes. Summary: Spicy-hot gingered, sparkling cherry coke with almond and rum notes. It loses most of its sweetness, but is too much spice for me, and still on the foody side.

    Dian's Bud

In the bottle: Fresh, clean, green floral. A bit soapy and ozoney. Honeydew makes it mildly sweet. Wet: Honeydew, new green leaves, delicate white flowers. Soft, fresh, and lovely. Fruitier and more floral, but less soapy, on my skin. Dry: Hmm, this has gone a bit minty! And the honeydew is almost cucumbery now...maybe it always was? Summary: Fresh, minty-cucumber; a bit soapy, floral and quite green. Decent throw, but fades rapidly. Not bad, but not thrilling.

    Rangoon Riptide

In the bottle: Buttery (???) orange, pineapple, and rum. Wet: Very similar, less buttery though thankfully. Heavier on the pineapple and a bit of raspberry peeks through. Very fruity, and quite sweet and foody. Dry: Settles into a much more blended and less cloyingly sweet fruity scent. The rum is still a bit buttery, but it's faint. A sparkling passion fruit note emerges in the distance, making this a light tropical punch. Summary: Fruity tropical punch. Quite sweet, but not overwhelming. The rum note is surprisingly warm and yummy, but overall, this scent is just too foody for me.

    Golden Wave

In the bottle: Fresh-herbal gin, tangerine, and guava. Fruity but not very sweet. Wet: Similar, but tangerine and guava amped, and some sparkling tonic has emerged. The gin note is lighter, thankfully. I'd swear there is some pikaki in here too, providing a warm floral note. Dry: The notes are mingling wonderfully. I adore the gin note in this (even though juniper is usually bad, here it is very light, herbal and fresh). The tangerine and guava are still going strong and are delightfully tart and exotic. Some faint passion fruit has emerged too. Summary: Gin, earthy patchouli and sexy musk, tart tropical fruit, soft pikake. The fruit notes sadly fade very quickly, but I love the patchouli and musk notes that emerges. Fruity, herbal and refreshing. Bottleworthy!

    Boo Bam

In the bottle: Fresh, green-planty, citrusy (in an unripe, zesty way) and aquatic. Bamboo and hibiscus. Wet: Similar, a little soapy. Actually now this reminds me a bit of Ebisu. It's a very green fresh aquatic but has a tropical, asian feel. Dry: Very 'clean' feeling; a bit cologney from the aquatic notes. Unisex to feminine; my skin is definitely amping the hibiscus. I suspect some white florals too. I'm positive there is some musk in this. Summary: Arghh this is making my rosacea flare! Damn you aquatics! The florals amp intensely; it becomes strongly feminine white flowers over bamboo and hibiscus. Stays fresh and tropical, but it loses most of the green notes. I'll have to retry this to see if I love it enough to deal with the itchy face, because it is very lovely.

    Screeching Parrot

In the bottle: Grapefruit, pineapple, lime! Tart and fruity, with lighter hints of ginger, pomegranate and apricot. Wet: Sweeter, more intensely fruity and less tart-fresh. The booze notes are apparent, but are not too overwhelming. Ginger amped. Dry: Whoa, spicy ginger and strong, strong fruit and booze. This has amped greatly. The apricot is by far the strongest fruit note and overwhelming others. I can smell a hint of pineapple if I strain, but nothing else. Summary: Dark booze notes, spicy pungent ginger, super sweet apricot and a hint of pineapple. Strong throw and lasting power. Heady. Ughhh I had to wash this off. It made me feel queasy. :\
