(goblin sniff, ie fresh from the mail) definitely herbaceous lavender! french lavender rather than english perhaps? it was so herby the moment i screwed the lid off it reminded me so strongly of rosemary! it wasn't bad at all, it was just... VERY strong but the initial rosemary blast fades quickly into actual lavender. there's also that lovely shining bergamot and earl grey in the vial as well. and i'm not sure if it's just placebo but this is the first time in a sort of dessert gourmand blend where i can discern what kind of baked good is being imitated, which is huge for me. oh my lord. it is absolutely scrumptious, i've been sorely disappointed with earl grey scents in the past and basically forwent trying more and more earl grey scents but i'm very glad i took a chance with this one. it deserves all the praise it gets.

i feel like my nose is just sort of... broken when it comes to "pink" bpal scents? because it just smells the same to me, or at least this and convivial vulva does? it might be that strawberry and marshmallow note that overlaps between them that causes it? either way, it's sort of... overwhelmingly fruity to me. so fruity that it just goes astringent on me. i can't pick out any of the individual notes, and not to honk my horn or anything but i've gotten better at that. this sort of... is just an amalgam of pink to me. i'm not sure if bpal's pink scents are my jam, BPV, CV and maenad just didn't knock my socks off. i think i just prefer bpal's other offerings.

it's clean and yet... animalic at at the same time. it's exactly like a trying to fold your freshly laundered wool sweater and here trots over your cat who just goes ahead and rolls all over it while it's still warm. it smells like laundry in the best way possible, it's a little romanticized, a little idealized but it's quite grounded actually. just smells like freshly laundry in a wool sweater way rather than a clean linen way if that makes sense. the cream plays nice, and it doesn't go indolic or curdled at all, it's silky smooth and comforting. this has been resting for..maybe a month now and i think i really like it! smells exactly like what i mentioned before but it's just... better? some how? like a freshly laundered warm wool sweater, cream colored and fluffy. lovely and silky laundry, hm, i think it needs just a biiiiit more testing before considering a full bottle.

(2024 ver, i think) (goblin sniff ie. 1 day fresh from the mail) it smells like frosty apple peels. and very crisp apple flesh. like biting into an apple straight from the fridge. i'm very very happy it doesn't smell like autumnal apples, i quite like this. ooh.. on skin it's kinda stank. it's very... powdery? dusty? like actually antique? the apple fades away so quickly. so so quickly it makes me sad. it's some sort of nondescript floral and cold accord on my skin. does it just need more rest? oh wait wait! it's [the apple peels] coming back, it's coming back just a bit. i can't breathe it in too much or else it becomes that sort of stanky dusty cold accord. it teeters on the edge of greatness for me. if the apple peel smell can remain then this is FS worthy to me. it's very unique in my little "cold" perfumes collection which also include alkemia's for love of winter, and star dust, and bpal's lady amalthea (which i wouldn't really count as cold to be honest but just for the sake of comparison) and nui cobalt's icicle tiara and maybe astrophilia? it's a standout compared to other creamy and minty scents, without any sort of big and bold florals or coniferous woody notes. the apple peel provides a very fresh and quite unique version of wintry scents, and i quite enjoy this specific cold accord! the other three in my collection use mint as a base which is very understandable but this lacks that mint, which i find quite nice as well. as of right now it doesn't have a lot of projection on the back of my hand, but maybe performance will be better with where i usually apply my perfume instead. color me very impressed with snow white!

(goblin sniff ie. fresh from the mail) GUAVA!!!!!! yes! lovely delicious guava. oh man, it reminds me of the guava drink that used to be on tap in the mess hall when i was spending my summer at university (summer extracurricular) right now i get nothing BUT the guava and it makes my little heart happy. i was worried that the incense + sandalwood combo would turn into straight up sandalwood incense (my mother loves to light them in our home with no ventilation like she's smoking out a beehive or something) but this is just straight up delicious juicy guava. i applied this at the same time i was testing out their crow moon fig and sandalwood hand cream, and i kept getting whiffs of something delicious, wondering what it was. i kept smelling my hand but all i got was the faint scent of vague fig until i realized it was my perfume! aghh, i didn't want to love this as much as i do, i'm on such a tight time frame to get an FS before it vanishes into the ether now.. i bought an FS direct from the lab (even though i also have just before penetration on the way too and they're very similar but shushhhhh)- 6 replies

Beaver Moon: Violet and Vanilla Chiffon
carrioncupid replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
tamarinda was correct when they mentioned powdered sugar! this was incredibly powdery to my nose, thanks in part to the perceived powdered sugar and the violets. this was my first foray into violet notes and in my spreadsheet i had mistakenly grouped them with lilac and wisteria when they don't go together at all (the violet with the other two at least). this is like an explosion of violet flavored powdered sugar and not really in a good way (for me) the projection was poor compared to my other BPALs and unfortunately (or fortunately) the longevity wasn't great either. only lasted for about...5 hours? before it diminished a lot. usually i can get a lot of wear out my BPALs, like 10 hours minimum but this one dissipates quickly. i'm unsure whether it's just BPAL's rendition of violets, or maybe this specific scent, or even violet notes in general that i dislike? i don't have a big enough sample size to determine which it is, but i know for sure that this scent is not for me.- 15 replies

L’Homme Fut Solitaire Dans un Paysage de Nuit

(goblin sniff ie. fresh from the mail) lovely meditative lilac. i feel like if i focus i can smell all components of the blend, with the lilac and the ambergris and maybe the labdanum being most apparent to me. while the smoke is most certainly present but it doesn't read as BBQ at all. gorgeous, it's not sweet at all. very promising, but i want to see what more rest would do for it. just the barest kiss of lilac atop a bed of ambergris and resinous smoke on the drydown. oh the frankincense has registered in my mind, it shows up more on the dry down. i don't usually care for "churchy" scents but this is really nice. (after a few hrs) it's an explosion of lilac (and ambergris is there too)! but mainly slightly sweet lovely lilac, i love how BPAL does it. it's reminiscent of the one in lady amalthea to my nose. i feel they do lilacs really well, i didn't know i liked it before i tried BPAL's rendition of it. i would love to explore their other lilacs as well.- 6 replies

(2023 version) very fluffy and creamy cloud of jasmine and.. purely jasmine to be honest. the rose lays down without putting up a fight letting jasmine hog the spotlight all to itself. jasmine and i get along very well together, as it's my favorite white florals and one of my favorite notes in general-- it also helps that it never goes indolic or cat pee on my skin ever. though there's two kinds of jasmine, ones where they're green tea adjacent (or actual jasmine) or they're pandan adjacent. this is purely pandan adjacent. or essentially, is it all other varieties of jasmine or is it night-blooming jasmine, and from previous knowledge-- this kind is night-blooming jasmine. (as i've experienced with astrid's stardust, and alkemia's kashish both of which have night blooming jasmine and turned into pandan extract on my skin, and this is no different.) it's nice and inoffensive and good for everyday wear but it simply doesn't have a wow factor to me. it's a little boring if i'll be honest, especially when i amp night-blooming jasmine into pandan like there's no tomorrow. i think someone else could appreciate it more than me.

there's some sort of GFB mischief happening here, i just don't think that these specific cream/milk accords are agreeing with me. oh, weird! the cream is melted away instantly and it's just all teak on my skin. some other say that lotus blossom smells like bubblegum to them, but there's a distinct lack of sweetness on my skin. it's super woody leaning, and it's not something i really enjoy wearing. i'm a bit saddened, i wish it was more your skin but better adjacent rather than i'm trapped in a crate made of teakwood.

complete and utter skin chemistry fail, the milk and coconut combine on my skin into something entirely nauseating-- was so bad to my nose it made me recoil all the times i've sniffed it from the bottle. it has scared me off from any bpals with both coconut and milk in it from now on..

in the decant it's... hard to discern what i'm smelling? i don't think i could individually pick out the notes besides some sort of creaminess and sweetness. i think it's mainly the ginger and vague black tea if i had to say? it doesn't quite smell like white chocolate to me. and it stays the same on skin like it does in the decant. but after like eight hours? (i think, i put it on before bed) it does turn into the most realistic, creamy and delicately sweet white chocolate note, like to a T white chocolate. while i adore the realistic drydown, i'm not completely in love with the wet scent or how long it takes to get there.

smells a little soapy in the imp... honeyed oat milk with clover inclusions... a little too sweet and foody for me.
-
as signaled by the "bitter almond" note in the description, in the imp this is not sweet at all. on skin it's an explosion of bitter almond for me, and the tiniest hint of vanilla. there is a very very slight sweetness to it thanks to the vanilla, but otherwise this is a stone cold scent with a very apparent absence of both sweetness and warmth. the more i smell it the more i can pick out a twinge of something floral, presumably the rose. but it doesn't scream ROSE to me, it's a rather nondescript floral being smothered by the bitter almond. it's enchanting, but i have other almonds i prefer, though i am happy to have tried this out.

the paperwhite and narcissus combo is very... prominent let's say in the vial. so much so it actually veers into indole territory which very seldomly happens for me. but nonetheless i applied a bit of it anyway. thankfully the indolic qualities of the aforementioned florals melt away quickly with skin contact, and i'm left with lazy florals of lily and the very prominent note of opium. someone had asked me to describe what opium smells like, but it's simply one of those notes where you know when you smell it. it's indescribable in my opinion, like if you said "this smells like chocolate" or "this smells like apples" then everyone would immediately know what you're talking about. well, eventually it turns into opium opium opium and lily on my skin. it's not bad on the drydown but i much prefer my florals to be "awake".

i got this as a frimp with my order! it's been resting for about a week now, and wow-- this vial cap is refusing to budge! but when i finally manage to pry the lid off it's like dark hot cocoa mix! aw, it smells like childhood i had this one on my iso so i really lucked out with being sent this one! hm, creamy and slightly powdery hot cocoa mix, it's astounding how it smells exactly like huffing the swiss miss powder. on dry down the poor cocoa gets obliterated by the myrrh... for some reason the myrrh veers into... stank? territory on my skin? hm, sad if only it stayed as hot cocoa powder, i'll have to pass on this one.

so good! it's immediately reminiscent of sweetened almond milk to me. i also bought nava's eternal bastet in the same order, and EB to me was all frangipane, and this is almond milk. PB is delicately sweet, and it's mainly almond, cream and vanilla on me with just a slight hint of toastiness from the oats and the barest kiss of white fig. it doesn't have much projection from the back of my hand but that's not a problem for me (i apply it on the base of my neck usually) THIS is exactly what i wanted from arcana's isolde but never got and i'm so glad that precious beauty fills my delicate almond dreams, well... beautifully!

like others have mentioned it's a very lovely and surprisingly full bodied creamy floral. to me, it's not all that cold because the mint almost instantaneously dissipates on skin contact for me, leaving behind a strong, yet delicate creamy florals. it has just the right amount of projection for me, it's not too loud but whenever i move my neck the scent blossoms on my skin again and i'm in a wonderful cloud of it. (i apply scents on my suprasternal notch) it's a lovely sleep scent, although i'd like to try TKO and its variations as well. it's been a little bit, and i've just had an epiphany: nui cobalt's twilight spidersilk (slender strands of cotton flower hung with trembling dewdrops, cobalt blue musk, vanilla orchid, imperial iris, white lilac and a whisper of lavender) smells exactly like the dry down of lady amalthea to me. comparing the two, the only thing they seemingly have in similar is the lilac. and it's such a lovely and heady lilac too, it's positively stunning on me! it's so beautiful, i never knew i loved the scent of lilac before these two scents came into my life. i think lilac might be vying with jasmine for my #1 favorite floral scent to be honest..

so lovely, i found a sample in a destash and i fell in love immediately. was so sad to see that it was an LE and i wrote off being able to find it for a while but i was so so lucky enough to have my ISO fulfilled by a kind person in the arae decantery discord! and so i have a FS of mouse otw to me, i don't get any of the carnation which i don't mind at all. mouse is a toasty and cozy scent, and it's very hazelnut, hay and vanilla forward scent on my skin. it reminds me of golden rolling fields of wheat in early autumn, of the slightest chilling kiss of what's to come later in the year. it's so comforting, it's like a hot shower and your favorite sweater at the end of a long day, so soothing. i'm so SO glad i have an FS of this beauty!

my first foray into bpal's shungas and it's one that i've finally decided that i liked enough to fs! in my little decant it at first reminded me of this specific body lotion? i think it might be nivea? and i was a little thrown off by it but it really grew on me since then. it's super well blended, and no one note really sticks out to me. but if i had to say, i think it's amber, lotus and cream heavy on my skin. on dry down the ink comes out to play and it really reminds me of the calligraphy ink i used to use for drawing a few years ago. i don't get any, i guess, sharp ink used for ballpoint pen or anything like that. the calligraphy ink was slightly sweet, a teensy bit herbal and it had a very distinct smell that i can't describe well (the last time i used it was well over 8 years ago) and it's present in here! over time on the dry down the toasted aspect of the almond blossom cream blooms (haha) on my skin too. it's lovely and fluffy and creamy, it's a golden ivory color in my mind and i'm glad that i have an FS on the way!
