this one... it's really strong in the bottle. like. super duper strong, and there's this very apparent sour wave that washes over me but it leaves just as quickly thankfully (PROBABLY honey + skin musk combo if i had to say). to me, i'm not sure if it's because i just don't eat a lot of pears-- but i wouldn't be able to tell that this is supposed to be pear. not even like, a candied or idealized version of a pear, it just...kinda smells like fruit? to me? nondescript fruit with cream. on skin, it is not nearly as strong to me. maybe it's also because i am wearing another scent on my neck and that's smothering what i can smell on my hand? (i didn't expect l'homme to have this much projection;;;) or maybe it's because i didn't apply enough of it? but. it's.. fine. yeah. it's fine. it doesn't knock my socks off or anything like that, it's fine for what it is. (and the little mini wave of honey sourness each time i give it a whiff is not helping its case) but i could definitely live without it. i'll have to compare to nava's EA pear, but i think i'd like a pear scent without any fixings.

i don't remember much of it because i had it a few months ago, and i JUST got into collecting BPALs, but i think it's a case of my olfactory senses not agreeing with BPAL's strawberry note. iris and peony is already pretty hard for me to discern on their own but when you add an overwhelming strawberry note to the mix, well it basically blitzes those delicate florals out of the blend completely, at least for me. i'm not sure why, convivial vulva, beauty with pink veil, and contest of flowers: iris, if you blindfolded me and asked me to name which is which. well i'd probably jumble them all up, that's how similar they all smelled to me. i think i'll just have to pass on their future strawberry offerings unfortunately.

(had this sample for abt 4 days) in the slonk it smells like... butter? like straight up salted butter but dropped into some patch i think. it's very odd, considering how when i initially sniffed it when i first got it, it smelled quite fruity thanks (probably) due to the peony. on skin the butter recedes into the background somewhat (although it is still very much present) and there's a noticeable fruity and floral quality to it now. i don't smell anything resembling anything close to almond in here, even if i really try to pick it out. it very much so has a sort of... clean and yet, dirty-at-the-same-time creamy quality to it that was present in a girl knitting, similar to what amoraexcena said. ooh. the fruitness evaporated again and the butter is back with a vengeance. i just think that salty, buttery patchouli simply isn't for me. i ended up attempting to scrub this one off (to seemingly little effect) but i gave it another sniff and i think i like it more post-scrub. the butter has been sheered away for the most part leaving the fruity peony petals behind (although that accursed butter still lingers noticeably around the edges), sigh-- if only there wasn't any orris butter in here! i think the butter part is messing with me. if it had been just regular orris i think i would've enjoyed it just fine.

wayyy too sweet for my tastes, maybe it's because i drink solely black coffee but this is incredibly sweet. one part coffee to three parts dunkin donuts coffee creamer, and extra sugar to really seal the deal. rather than occult rituals in the venerated and ancient university, they're being held in the storage room of the starbucks in the barnes and nobles; hard pass.

milk + wine + my skin chemistry = death. enough said. no but seriously, this one is not doing it for me. i'm already iffy about milk notes but the wine just speeds up the curdling of the milk and it's just a sour mess in the imp. i didn't even try this one on my skin before i destashed it. i doubt more rest would've done anything to improve it for me, the imp was already very aged, with yellowed and worn paper label.

spices in a very literal sense. it smells like my pantry, this is pure cinnamon bark to me. there's a very slight sweetness but that's coming from the cinnamon. i don't get any of the honey here thankfully. smells like cinnamon tea i used to drink, except it's a lot less sweet. it's a pretty dry blend of spices i'd say. can't really go wrong with a scent like this on a cold day. the projection is a very intimate one, can't really smell it from the back of my hand unless i get close. i think if i slather this on the suprasternal notch like i usually do then it'd be fine. beware if you have cinnamon sensitivities. i tried this one again after maybe, a week or two after my initial review and i've bumped it down a bit. something in here is just sour and doesn't agree with me. i think it may be the honey, sigh, honey notes are usually very hit or miss on me (usually miss) and this one is no different. i'll probably look elsewhere to get my spice kick.

Crow Moon: Honeyed Fig and Sandalwood Lotion
carrioncupid replied to doomsday_disco's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
i got mine as a sample from arae decantery, it came in a little screw top flat jar which is very convenient! as for the scent it's very faint, but it's strong enough to notice, and it lingers very quietly when applied to my hands. it's a little sour for my taste, honey and sandalwood aren't really my favorite notes. but my mom loves it so i'm considering buying more just for her. the formula itself i'm a huge fan of! it's very thick, and a little goes a very long way. i have had life long sensory issues and i always hated applying lotion to my hands because the greasy after feel was always incredibly unbearable to me, but there's none of that here! it moisturizes my hands very well, and it sinks in quickly without leaving any greasy residue behind. the moisturization lasts for quite a while, and even after a shower it's still present, albeit not as much. but i'm very happy to apply some more post shower. i can see this getting a lot of use in the brutal winters here, and i'm very excited to see what other lotion scents the lab is cooking up- 3 replies

this one is so odd to me.. i feel like it should've been a smash hit for me but it's not at all. it's not the distinctly smooth and creamy white chocolate i love to indulge in from time to time (i'm a dark chocolate truther), it's quite acrid in the bottle actually. sour white chocolate and an undercurrent of something nutty underneath. maybe the macadamia? i haven't eaten macadamia nuts in my life so i can't say for sure. and on skin, this is the first bpal scent i've ever tried that my skin absolutely eats. i put a bit on my wrist (around inner corner of my left) and it's only been... not even 10 minutes and i can't even smell it up close. somehow i catch faint whiffs of something vaguely white chocolate with my fan blowing in my direction but otherwise this all but vanishes. i would've scrubbed it off if it didn't do that by itself, so i guess it saves me the trouble. maybe the lab's non fruity food scents simply aren't for me?

A leathered up, musky interpretation of BPAL’s Antique Lace: dry flowers, aged linens, and the faint breath of long-faded perfumes with well-worn leather and caramel musk. (goblin sniff, ie fresh from the mail) (note that i am not acquainted with the original or resurrected antique lace) it smells as lovely as i thought it would be in the bottle, delicate vanilla and caramel! and a slight twinge of worn leather. the vanilla in here isn't gossamer i would say but it's very close, this is the sort of lovingly handwoven lace you would find in a chest in your attic, rather than a sheer bridal veil that i describe pierrot's stardust motel is similar to. i can already tell that i will love this scent! i'm glad that i blind bought this, and i have another one on the way

guava! but it's notably different than the guava in 2025 shunga's "great pleasures for women and their treasure boxes" this guava is a lot gentler, not as in your face. this guava is pink i'd say, compared to the bright and vibrant coral color of great pleasures. there is also a noticeable fig note in here as well, less purple fig and more towards a fresh green (my favorite ) the cream does not smell lactonic and instead just provides a creamy base for the guava to sit on. a lovely, lovely, scent, i'm very glad i picked this one up too! bpal's guava notes are simply darling.

i have the same experience as minh scent, dahlia is very pretty and sheer but it just has like. no projection at all. and i usually don't mind scents that have little projection but i can barely even smell it unless my nose is right against the back of my hand where i applied it unfortunately. and it's been resting for about... 8 days? maybe it just needs more rest? but even still it smells just as faint as it did when it arrived...

(goblin sniff, ie fresh from the mail) definitely herbaceous lavender! french lavender rather than english perhaps? it was so herby the moment i screwed the lid off it reminded me so strongly of rosemary! it wasn't bad at all, it was just... VERY strong but the initial rosemary blast fades quickly into actual lavender. there's also that lovely shining bergamot and earl grey in the vial as well. and i'm not sure if it's just placebo but this is the first time in a sort of dessert gourmand blend where i can discern what kind of baked good is being imitated, which is huge for me. oh my lord. it is absolutely scrumptious, i've been sorely disappointed with earl grey scents in the past and basically forwent trying more and more earl grey scents but i'm very glad i took a chance with this one. it deserves all the praise it gets.

i feel like my nose is just sort of... broken when it comes to "pink" bpal scents? because it just smells the same to me, or at least this and convivial vulva does? it might be that strawberry and marshmallow note that overlaps between them that causes it? either way, it's sort of... overwhelmingly fruity to me. so fruity that it just goes astringent on me. i can't pick out any of the individual notes, and not to honk my horn or anything but i've gotten better at that. this sort of... is just an amalgam of pink to me. i'm not sure if bpal's pink scents are my jam, BPV, CV and maenad just didn't knock my socks off. i think i just prefer bpal's other offerings.

it's clean and yet... animalic at at the same time. it's exactly like a trying to fold your freshly laundered wool sweater and here trots over your cat who just goes ahead and rolls all over it while it's still warm. it smells like laundry in the best way possible, it's a little romanticized, a little idealized but it's quite grounded actually. just smells like freshly laundry in a wool sweater way rather than a clean linen way if that makes sense. the cream plays nice, and it doesn't go indolic or curdled at all, it's silky smooth and comforting.

(2024 ver, i think) (goblin sniff ie. 1 day fresh from the mail) it smells like frosty apple peels. and very crisp apple flesh. like biting into an apple straight from the fridge. i'm very very happy it doesn't smell like autumnal apples, i quite like this. ooh.. on skin it's kinda stank. it's very... powdery? dusty? like actually antique? the apple fades away so quickly. so so quickly it makes me sad. it's some sort of nondescript floral and cold accord on my skin. does it just need more rest? oh wait wait! it's [the apple peels] coming back, it's coming back just a bit. i can't breathe it in too much or else it becomes that sort of stanky dusty cold accord. it teeters on the edge of greatness for me. if the apple peel smell can remain then this is FS worthy to me. it's very unique in my little "cold" perfumes collection which also include alkemia's for love of winter, and star dust, and bpal's lady amalthea (which i wouldn't really count as cold to be honest but just for the sake of comparison) and nui cobalt's icicle tiara and maybe astrophilia? it's a standout compared to other creamy and minty scents, without any sort of big and bold florals or coniferous woody notes. the apple peel provides a very fresh and quite unique version of wintry scents, and i quite enjoy this specific cold accord! the other three in my collection use mint as a base which is very understandable but this lacks that mint, which i find quite nice as well. as of right now it doesn't have a lot of projection on the back of my hand, but maybe performance will be better with where i usually apply my perfume instead. color me very impressed with snow white!
