  1. Smooth wood, sweet pipe smoke, tonka, and Irish coffee.

My first impression after applying a bit to my wrist? Dog. It smells like dog. Drydown thankfully gets rid of the dog smell and in its place is something that reminds me of an old candy called Bit o Honey. I don't get coffee.

Not unpleasant but not what I want to smell like either.

  2. Rum-soaked cotton candy, boot-stomped licorice whips and circus peanuts, scorched marshmallows, a dribble of corn whiskey, cigar smoke, and greasepaint.

This is just vile. It is super sweet but there's a very sour smell in the background. It gets very peppery and then I smell grease, and this happens all the while that super sweet rot-your-teeth candy dances about. And then, there's tobacco.

The combination of notes is freaking me out just a bit. I'm expecting someone to whisper "We all float down here."

  3. WHOA. On application, this is manly men's cologne. I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK...

When it dries down, it keeps the masculine edge but the fruit comes out in the aftersniff. I do like this, but I might attempt to spill some on some of my favorite guys and see how they like it.

  4. This blend is going to be another "Nope" scent for me. It starts out as a blast of pineapple and quickly fades to something strangely powdery and floral. I had such high hopes too because of the initial zing. Oh well... on to the next Velvet...

  5. What a wonderful scent. I thought I detected sweet frankincense and nothing else. Then suddenly I got a little earth from the pu-erh. Next I smelled mint. Now, it's dried to lime and a touch of sage.

It is fresh and lovely. It goes through a definite masculine phase but I think I can wear it nicely.

ETA: I am now picking up... pineapple?? And Bay rum??? I think I'm in love.

  6. Weirdly, I detect something almost medicinally menthol-like on application. I definitely get myrtle (or some kind of green/wood something) and the carnation is on the outer edge. It's nice but it is very different from any other scent I've tried.

  7. Yes indeed, this one morphs up purty.

Starts out as cocoa and evolves to a soft but potent blend of patchouli and incense. Neither overpowers the other and the end result is lovely. I think that this might become a favorite. Thank BOB it's GC.
