In the imp: Violently violet (smells like candy from the 60s)

Wet: Violet and ylang ylang

Dry: It's gone a bit sharp. I can still detect the violet but whatever the sharp note might be is messing with the violet goodness and turning the whole thing into Avon dusting powder.

I mainly pick out rose in this scent. There's also an incense in the background that gives it a little depth. Another sniff and I get the sharp green that many have spoken of. One more sniff and I get the Ivory soapiness. That's on my right wrist.

On the left (and yes, they are different- don't ask, I have no idea) I smell carnation with a bit of rose. No soap, just flowers and thorns.

This is just gorgeous on me. I agree with Celtimor- it is very perfume-y but it is breathtakingly beautiful. I guess it is the sandalwood taking the lead and going all warm and cozy. I still don't have a nose for picking out individual notes like some of the folks here. All I can say is that this scent is warm and comfortable.

I have read reviews that this turns into Irish Spring soap. It does. Sort of. But it's not your classic soapy scent. It is deep and mystical. I smell powerful incense, warm yet cool at the same time...

And I like it too...

In the imp: I thought I would really like this fragrance- I love lavender and that is what I most picked up.

Wet: More of the same. So far, so good.

Dry: No. No no no no no. Not for me. The lavender has faded just a bit and although I can still smell it, the scent has become very masculine. It is gorgeous and I would love to snuggle with a guy wearing this, but I don't think I am going to be able to tolerate having it on all day. I must go scrub it off. NOW.

Buy this one for your man...

Mmmmm... woodsy with a hint of sweet berry. I don't detect the cedar too much (which is a good thing for me because cedar=hamster cage). This is a comfortable pleasing scent.

I tried this one, being nearly positive that I would toss it into the swaps pile. I usually do not like a heavy rose note. However...

In the Imp and Wet: Cloying and overpowering rose

Dry: a soft spice blankets the rose and tones it way down for me. I think I will not get a headache, after all. I believe I like this scent and will be looking for more of it soon.

This started out as oh so gorgeous...

and then turned into smoky powder. Me no likey.

In the imp: VIOLETS!!! By the bouquet-full

Wet: Violets and vanilla

Dry: Beautiful lovely violets with just a hint of vanilla chaser. I am not picking up gardenia at all, which is sad because I LOVE gardenia!! However, if you were/are a fan of that God-awful candy that smelled heavenly and tasted like soap (appropriately named Violets), you will LOVE this scent. I would buy the candy to sniff, not to eat. Now I don't ever have to obuy it again. I have Le Serpent Qui Danse instead!!!

In the imp: Sharply sweet

Wet: Musk and frankencense

Dry: This is one of the prettiest fragrances of all time. It is a bit on the heavy side, so I would only see myself wearing it if I had a cozy sweater on... it is sweet tea and musk.

In the imp and wet on skin: Lily lily lily- if I stuck my face into a bunch of lilies, I wouldn't get half as much lily as I do with this.

Dry: It's gotten weirdly sweet but with a bit of a bite. And it's going a bit powdery. Not bad. Not bad at all.

This started out bold and brightly screaming fruit and wine. What it settled into is probably one of THE most gorgeous scents I have tried so far. Someone described it as sultry. Exactement!! I feel like Greta Garbo. It's exotic and warm and quite sexy. WOW.

I would like to buy a liter of this oil, please?

In the imp: Liquid butter, the kind they put on popcorn

Wet: More of same and much stronger

Dry: Coconut/vanilla car fragrance, mildly plastic-y.

Definitely not for me.

I put this on before coming in to work this morning, not realizing what it is... *snortle*

In the imp: Lemon with a hint of musk

Wet: Lemon fades and the musk (I assume civet?) is coming to the fore.

Dry: This is warm and beautiful. It's been a long time since I have worn civet and it still loves me. Yum. I love it right back.

I am not too sure about this one- it starts off with a vetiver smack in the face. It jumps into my nostrils and tries to shove itself down my throat. After a bit, the vanilla and coconut warm up and elbow their way to the fore. And that is not necessarily a bad thing... except that now Snake Oil is screaming at me. It's just too much heaviness. I feel like I am going to suffocate. If I could cut the strength about 30%, it would be incredible. As it is? I'm too young to die.

ETA: Interestingly enough, 2 hours later, the fragrance is no longer trying to strangle me. I now smell tobacco. And snake oil. But it's lost its voice and is just sitting peacefully. This isn't so bad after all...

I just love Gaueko! The lavender and sandalwood combination is incredibly lovely. I don't pick up any burnt anything (which is just as well). I definitely see a bottle of this in my future.

In the imp: Orris. Ick. Smells like hay.

Wet: Sweetness of some kind coming through. Floral? Maybe. I do NOT smell typical rose, though.

Dry: Soft flowers. Very soft. (I would actually like for this to be stronger than it is)

In the imp: Vanilla and orange blossom

Wet: Vanilla... am I detecting plastic? NOOOOO!!!

Dry: Plastic gone (whew) and the vanilla/orange blossom combo is back. Not real strong, but nice enough. I like this one.

In the imp: Minty goodness- I agree with the description of Thin Mints

Wet: More mint, cool, not icy.

Dry: WTF? I smell like Mentholatum now. NOT GOOD. My skin took this delightful fragrance and turned it very medicine-y. It is the scent of those Vicks Nostril thingies that open your sinuses. If I want to go home sick from work, THIS is what I need to wear. I smell like illness.

In the bottle: generic men's cologne- nothing I can put my finger on brandwise- it just reminds me of the men's cologne section of a department store.

Wet: Now I get some patchouli and I like it because it's soft and gentle.

Dry: Generic perfumed talcum powder. I detected a small bit of smoke before it went straight to powder.

Might be nice on a guy... or a dog.

In the imp: sweet cherry and almond- reminds me of the original Jergen's Lotion scent (and when I say original, I am talking about the stuff I loved in the 60s, not the 'let's bring back the nostalgic scent that we got rid of in the 70s- it is NOT the same)

Wet: Instant powder. Huh? Where'd my sweet go?

Dry: I get the almond again but not very strong. I would love this scent if it had staying power. Alas, it fades too quickly.

In the imp: butterscotch

Wet: butterscotch but rum is starting to peek through

Dry: Rum and play doh.

What a combination. And I have a hearing to conduct this morning. *yeesh*

Bug spray

I don't know what it is in here that I hate so much. I do not recognize particular notes so I have no idea what it is about this that just makes me want to rip my nose off and mouth breathe for awhile. I literally had to scrub my arms to get the scent off and still it lingered... Kill me now.

There's a paralegal who attends hearings that I conduct- I have had to ask him to refrain from cologne use because he smells like bug spray and I can not stand to be in the same room with him. Can it be that he's been wearing Hymn to Proserpine... hmmm...

In the imp: Grassy

Wet: Herbs and grass. Fresh hay.

Dry: Spicy herbs. I could have sworn I got a whiff of cinnamon. Definitely not something I would wear for scent's sake but if this works its magic, then I will be getting a bottle.
