To the untrained nose *points at self* this is Snake Oil set at 11. In the imp and wet, I don't get salt or bayou or aquatic anything. Just snake oil. I can taste it in the back of my throat when I get a whiff. That is how strong it is.

 

Now that it's drying down, I am picking up playdoh, which I know is my version of vanilla. And something mildly sweaty. And something that reminds me vaguely of iodine. Salty? Maybe. Bayou or aquatic? Who knows.

In the imp: Cleaning product smell.

 

Wet: Lavender... the cleaner is gone and lovely lavender remains.

 

Dry: Gone. Nothing. Vanished. Where'd it go? Will say that I took a nap and it was totally dreamless. YAY.

In the imp and wet: MOLASSES!!!!! Dark, sticky and sweet.

 

Dry: Burnt sugar. My teeth just might fall out.

Soft, sweet and delicate. I can really smell the carnation. Does not last very long on my skin. Pity.

Oh, yes indeed.

 

This has been aging since 10/07. I definitely get the fizzy grape soda that others have mentioned. I am also picking up something that reminds me of Play Doh right out of the can (which is not a bad thing). I also smell powerful vanilla.

 

I really like it. A lot.

I have to agree that this is a lovely male scent. It is warm and snuggly and cozy. The sandalwood, amber and musk are very inviting. However, I am not particularly enjoying smelling it on ME. It makes me want to go hug on someone and since I am at the office that could make for some unplesantness, no?

Wet, the thing I smelled the strongest was... banana. I know there is no banana in Jazz Funeral, but there ya go. When it dried down, it went powdery. No florals, no dirt, no booze. Just powder.

In the imp: Very spicy- cinnamon mostly with something else mixed in that I can't identify. Pepper?

 

Wet: I find this to be a masculine scent. I still get the spice, but there's some herb aspect as well. Reminds me of something my dad used to wear.

 

Dry: No more masculine cologne- this has settled to a nice spicy and warm scent. Weirdly enough, I smell wax too, like the kind that lips & funny noses used to be made of for Halloween back in the 60s. I do like it though. I am glad I bought a bottle of it before the Stations of the Sun were discontinued.

In the imp: Rose Rose Rose... primarily rose and nothing else

 

Wet: More of the same

 

Dry: The rose fades a bit and sandalwood moves to the front. The final scent is powdery but not unpleasant. Slightly sweet but not overpowering. Nice.

Not having read any of the ingredients, I had no idea what to expect. Interestingly enough, I did not get pine or eucalyptus or orange either in the imp or wet. I got pineapple lifesavers. It wasn't until it dried that I can detect pine. And I think I like it much. It's a little sweet and I do get a touch of menthol. But this is nice.

In the imp: Sour apple

 

Wet: The sourness is toned down a little and I think I am picking up the grape now (not really sure)

 

Dry: Subtle and clean, not very strong- I like it

Whoa, there Nelly!! What an interesting combination of notes.

 

In the imp: The bitter almond is the primary note- this reminds me of the original Jergen's lotion scent (the ORIGINAL from my childhood, not the crap they pass off as 'original' today). I am confused because this is supposed to be Inferno. Doesn't that mean HOT? Conflagration? Firey?

 

Wet: Sweet lovely bitter almond... with something in the background. Can it be? Is it really... CINNAMON!!!

 

Dry: Now I smell like the candy Red Hots. I am certainly glad I don't have any skin reactions to cinnamon because this is ultra-cinnamon

 

An hour later: didn't last very long- I barely detect anything on my wrist. I think this one will be relegated to the scent locket- maybe it'll last longer there.

No, I don't believe that I like this one. Itis giving me a headache.

 

In the imp: Hastur is silky and sinister- I smell tobacco and then I get a whiff of the dreaded HAMSTER CAGE.

 

Wet: My wrist is buzzing- first sharpness, then a powdery quality, then back to sharp and stompy.

 

Dry: Oh, no no no. It reminds me of the inside of a closet or a trunk that has been closed up. It's sweet and sharp and is playing knick knack on my skull. Someone else might be able to pull this scent off well. It's kung fu fighting on me. HiYAH. Must remove tout suite.

Unlike the other Snake Pit offerings that I've tried, this is the most un-Snake Oil smelling blend so far. Again, I have to defer to alicia_stardust's visual description. (it is spot on) This is lovely white flowers with a hint of vanilla. Clean and dainty without being super-bubbly.

In the imp: Sour, pungent rotting fruits. Ewwww.

 

Wet: Still very sour, but I think I detect a hint of sweet.

 

Dry: O. M. G. How startlingly beautiful!! Every bit of sourness is vanished. What I am left with is honeyed sweetness. A little whiff of cinnamon. A bit of chocolate. Kali is definitely one of my top ten favorites.

Another winner in my book- lovely wonderful cherries!!! A hint of anise. Dries down to a lovely cherry musk. I think this is phenomenal and I will be adding Kabuki to my next order...

I have seen several reviews where Lady Una smelled of dreaded cat pee. I have to say that I would LOVE it if this scent smelled like cat pee, because then that would mean that all the litter boxes in my house smell like cotton candy (and don't I wish?). In the imp and wet, I get fluffy, sweet cotton candy, ethereal and beautiful. On the drydown, the honeyed vanilla step to the forefront. The fragrance is lovely.

This scent makes me smile. It is definitely playful and happy. I am not picking up the bite that a lot of people mention in their reviews. For me, Jester is fun and fruity (Currant is my friend). I love it.

My Snake Pit decants have been aging for 7 months. This is the first time I have tried Habu.

 

in the imp: Snake Oil and wood.

 

wet: there IS a little bit of cocoa here- definitely not like Boomslang, but just enough to add a little sweetness. Oh, man, am I being reminded of a perfume from my childhood... I just can't remember what it is or who's wearing it.

 

Dry: This is one of the sultriest and sexiest fragrances I have ever sniffed in my entire 52 years of life. It purrs like a kitten but reminds you at the same time that a lioness lounges nearby. God bless Snake Oil.

What an interesting scent. After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to try it but... WOW.

 

In the imp: Sweet/sharp/herbal all at the same time.

 

Wet: Sweet, but I also detect wood in there... cedar maybe? Normally, any cedar reminds me of a reeking Hamster Cage, but this cedar is in the background and sort of peeks through demurely every so often.

 

Dry: Complex- there is still cedar in here, but I smell patchouli and a bit of menthol. The combination of notes is very pleasing. Keeper.

Alicia Stardust said it best. This DOES smell purple!!!

 

In the bottle and wet: grape kool-aid and purple candy.

 

Dry: Berries with a bit of incense in the background. LOVE.

I like this but it is not longlasting on me. I smell cocoa and fig but I can detect a bit of wood too. Nice.

Not sure what happened to the scent in this little imp but there doesn't seem to be much of one.

 

Wet: Sandalwood and ylang ylang- smells fruity

 

Dry: Whisper soft, barely there.

In the imp: there's a sharpness in the midst of florals- maybe it's the pomegranate juice?

Wet: Fruity with flowers at the rear.

Dry: Soft, pretty. Florals are subdued but there is a little fizz there too.

Beautiful, but not terribly long lasting. The lilac in it is just gorgeous.
