  1. CCCXXIII (323)

Again Aerinha reviewed it before me and again I got something different. While I do agree with the green pulpiness of the scent, I picked up something foody as well. It turned spicy after it dried. 12 hours later, it is still potent... but what I can smell now is something sharp and strident (what I've always referred to in other colognes as bug spray). I do NOT like it.

  2. What an evocative scent. Just the tiniest dab on the wrists takes me back to St. Louis Cathedral and the early '70's midnight mass I attended with a friend. Do I detect sandalwood? Someone mentioned cedar and I think I pick up a tiny bit of that as well. Normally, cedar and I are not friends (HAMSTER CAGE!!) but it's not obnoxious in this blend.

    This is beautiful.

  3. There was just a tiny bit of oil left in this gifted sniffie. I get mainly clove and patchouli incense. It didn't last too long though and I am not sure if this is because of my chemistry or because there was not enough to use. I do like what I got to sniff.

  4. I originally got a sniffie of O in a swap and fell in love. My beloved amber lingered in there, as well as lovely honey and vanilla. My ultra-wonderful winter Switch Witch gifted me with a full imp so I finally got to try it for real. What I discovered is that O is deliciously heavy and sticky-sweet smelling. It is definitely a winter scent and a little goes a long long way.

  5. All righty. Were I to pick a huge bouquet and then turn it upside down and sniff, that green smell would be The Potter's Field. It doesn't change over time either, although later on I am aware that someone dumped a bag of grass clippings on the bouquet.

I can see wearing this on occasion when I want a hint of spring. Otherwise, no.

  6. This is so pretty! I get musk and amber mostly (and amber is one of my favorite notes). I am not picking up the almond but I do think I detect a bit of sandalwood. The scent has the potential to be overpowering, though, so I don't think this is a slathering fragrance. Definitely a dabber.

  7. What an amazing scent. In the imp and wet on application, Laudanum is bitter and medicinal. As it dries, I first smell wood and then the sassafras. It is a little sweeter but still has a serious in-your-face aroma. I like it, although I don't see it as a frequent scent. It'll be something to save for occasional use.

  8. I am swooning over Lurid. I have never sniffed anything so darkly and powerfully sexy in my entire life. I think I am amping the musk and resin because this fragrance is indeed fierce.

I am going to hug my Winter Switch Witch in two for sending me yet another blend that is now a favorite. :wub2:

  9. Through sunlit caves of ice, roses unfurl amidst dancing waves of serpentine opium smoke and amber tobacco, golden sandalwood, champaca, tea leaf, sugared lily, ginger, rich hay absolute, leather, dark vanilla, mandarin, peru balsam, and Moroccan jasmine.

I am having such good luck with scents lately. Kubla Khan is no exception. In the imp I can smell jasmine mostly. After it dries, the jasmine calms down and it turns into a smoky incense. It is an exotic heady blend- I think I am in love. Definitely a favorite.

(Winter Switch Witch, I LOVE you for allowing me to try this!)
