  1. Verrrrrrrry interesting fragrance, this.

It starts out as dirt. I dabbed some on, sniffed and thought "great. I smell like I've been digging in the garden." I figured I'd wash it off when I got to work. Fortunately, I got busy and forgot about it for a few hours. When I sniffed my arm after several hours had passed, it had turned to sweet floral. I am not crazy about its start, but I certainly am happy with what I ended up with.

  2. I think Black Opal is going up there in the top 5. It reminds me of Antique Lace (which is up there too) but deeply musky. It is warm and sexy and simply gorgeous. I put some on at 6 this morning and after 10pm, I can STILL detect the vanilla musk.

Super thanks to Seismogenic for the gift of this imp!!

  3. Pink rock candy, strawberry cream, and splashes of gin, vermouth, and grenadine.

Oh, man do I smell juniper and gin. Something very sweet is lilting right at the very top. (strawberry sugar candy? Grenadine?)

Drydown doesn't change the order much, except the candy sweetness is stronger and lasts longer.

    Not bad.

  4. Interesting. This starts out smelling like Doublemint Gum and grapefruit peel. It's cool and tangy, sweet and tart. The mint fades on drydown and the grapefruit amps a bit. Now something sharper than grapefruit (that reminds me of the way a beauty salon smells, if that makes any sense at all) is coming out.

I don't know if I like it or not.

  5. the fabulous schackjj sent me a bit of this a few weeks back to try...

I wasn't too crazy about the scent in the imp... but oh, mama! When I put it on and let it dry it turned into blueberry muffin wonderfulness. I am NOT a foodie for fragrances but I will make an exception in the case of Blue Phoenix. LOVE

  6. XCI

When this goes on, it first reminds me of pineapple lifesavers...

on drydown, it loses the fruitiness and just turns clean. I wish I knew what notes I was smelling but I don't. I can say that I am not detecting any floral or food. It is just fresh and clean. Maybe there's a pine note way in the background but there's still a primary note that is blowing a fresh breezeright up my nose. Whatever it is, I LOVE it.

  7. CXV

In the imp, this smells very green... almost like sap from the stem of a flower (I keep seeing a daisy in my nose's eye). It gets a little softer and sweeter on application but it maintains that feral quality. I have no idea what notes are in here. I could be imagining a wee bit of violet but I can't discern anything else.

    Very different. Very nice.

eta: how on earth did Lycanthrope manage to get bottles CXV and CCXV in the same order... and then decant imps of both to me? Hee!

  8. This fragrance starts out as INYOURFACE hyperactive gardenia-turned-Tigger. I can almost hear the "woo hoo!!" Fortunately, I love both Milne and gardenia. Otherwise I would have run from the room screaming something about evil bouncy tiger flowers sucking my breath away. The super-headiness quickly fades, however. What is left is a sweet but calm mix of florals. I think I like this a lot.

  9. Wowser... this is powerful. I've seen people describe the initial scent as Christmas'y and that is quite accurate. But with the Christmas scent is something almost wine-like. It is a bright scent and a little overwhelming. I can taste it.

I like it but it is not a slathering scent.

  10. What high hopes I had for Marotte...

It started off GORGEOUS. The amber and pear were perfectly matched and I remember thinking that this was going to be one of my all time favorites.

And then it dried.... and turned to dusting powder.

    Le Sigh for Le Mat.

  11. II (2)

I read fairnymph's review and I have to wonder if we have decants of the same oil. I get anise and cedar from this while it's wet. No chocolate. No raspberry.

When it dries down, the licorice takes a back seat and the cedar steps aside as well. What comes to the fore now is a sweet resin, coupled with a floral that is so heady it is breathtaking. If it only lasted... it turns into something that reminds me of a dusting powder I used when I was a teen. While the reminiscence is lovely, I'd rather have the floral and resin. *sigh*

  12. I don't smell not one iota of coconut. This is orris all the way. I like the way it smells (because orris is one of the ingredients in my personal horoscope scent) but the intensity of the orris is giving me a bit of a headache. Definitely not a slathering scent. A little dab'll do ya!

  13. Bust out the dzang dzi! This scent honors the zombies of Chinese lore. Mandarin orange, white musk, mango, and white sandalwood.

Hmmm... sandalwood, sandalwood and more sandalwood with a little bit of musk thrown in for good measure.

  14. I want to drink this. I know that nothing foody is listed as a note, but I swear I smell something like peach... and it is making me very hungry. I could sniff this imp all day.

Dry, it turns very incense-ish... it is very different from peach nectar, but it is still very nice. However, I no longer wish to drink it. I gave up drinking incense a long time ago.
