This is a very warm and spiritual blend. Frankincense and cedar mostly, with amber and vanillaish from the heliotrope preventing it from becoming wood chip cedar. I don’t get the citrus. It’s nice if you like churchy blends, and I like it. Throws a lot of frankincense, other notes stay closer.

Wow in the bottle... this shit is BANANAS. RIPE BANANAS. I agree that it dries down more figgy and floral. It doesn't go particularly tropical on me but is a sweet, creamy, and mild floral. I guess the creaminess is from the rice and almond milk. It faded really fast on me and low throw, which was unexpected because the bottle scent is very strong.

Think I finally found my dream book scent! I've tried Evening Reading (dry and leathery), and Dee (I like a lot - but very leathery). This one is evocative of the experience of a late night read more than smelling like a BOOK. Cacao at first, dries down a bit brighter - I agree with the tea mentioned above. The leather, paper, and ink are all there but the cacao keeps it warm and smooth. Very nice, kind of sexy actually.

Bought this bottle secondhand so I’m not sure of the age, but this reminds me a lot of old Día de los Muertos circa 2004, which is fantastic for me because that was my favorite ever. The cocoa fades pretty fast on my skin so I put it on a piece of fabric.

DdlM 2004 was my signature scent, I loved it so much. It was complex, more incense than floral, and definitely gave chocolate on me. the 2023 is so different. It smells like a single note floral, in the bottle, on me, and in a diffuser.

It’s lemonade from the lemonade stand some kid runs in the neighborhood. It's one of those red white and blue bomb pop things you get from the ice cream truck. 🍧 That is exactly what this smells like. This was a generous freebie 5ml from GoldenRubee. I like to smell things like this before looking at the reviews, and I'm so glad I did - because I think it's something totally different to me and... honestly, I think it's probably what the lab was going for as a concept.

My favorite BPAL of... so far. This is warm, sophisticated, slightly dry, and dreamy. It draws you in, and I'm pretty sure it at least partially helped someone fall in love with me. If anyone has any amount they'd like to pass along, please DM me! Apparently, the painting was based on this Victor Hugo (1802 –1885) poem: I like the last two stanzas, they remind me the most of the painting (though they talk about Ruth, and the painting is either of Boaz or Hugo: Boaz Asleep All slept, all, from Ur to Bethlehem. The stars enameled the deep black of the sky. A narrow crescent in the low dark of the west shone, while Ruth wondered, lying still now, eyes half opened, under twinging of their lids, what god of the eternal summer passing dropped his golden scythe there in that field of stars. Here's the whole thing:

I accidentally ordered 2 bottles of the same oil, so I asked for a surprise swap, and this was it. This is what I wish "Evening Reading" from November ('23?) would be like. Dee notes: soft English leather, rosewood, and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment, and soft woods. Evening reading notes: Soft leather and aged paper, linen sheets, lamp oil, lavender sachets, a splash of rosewater, and a faint tendril of fading hearthsmoke. Evening reading is all leather and smoke to me, and quite strong. Dee is much softer and despite lacking a floral note, it does something very faintly floral on me that I wish ER did. The incense is a bit more than a hint, but not so much that it feels like sitting next to a campfire. The leather reads as book binding not a saddle. I'm very happy to have discovered my "sleepy book" scent, and that it's a General Catalogue item too! This is a scent that any gender can pull off, but it leans masculine. It's quite serious and studious.
