This is lovely, but I'm sad to report I get zero weed from this! Other than the fact that my bunny is not as high I was hoping, this scent is more than the sum of it's parts. Like the other blow molds, it IS reminiscent of a sun-faded plastic bunny. It's all the best parts of rice milk and marshmallow and a soft glowing amber blended together. I really love it. Maybe I'll get lucky and the weed will emerge with a little more rest....?

I want to preface this review with the fact that this bottle just arrived yesterday. I have half a bottle of revenant rhythm hair gloss that I got second hand a year or so ago. Smelling this and the hg side by side to compare: the patchouli is the same, but fresh the perfume is heavier on the hemp than the vanilla. The vanilla starts to make an appearance after an hour or so of wear, but it's pretty gentle and doesn't have that rich quality the aged hair gloss has. I'm hoping it develops with some rest! Even so, this is still really lovely. The hemp and vanilla take the edge off the patch. The patch and hemp combine to give it a soft earthy quality (rather than gritty or sharp, as can happen with patchouli). eta: after several hours of wear what was left on my arm was much closer to what my hg smells like. So I think this just needs time to rest and age to develop 🤗

I’ve never smelled the fabled stekk but the marshmallow here reminds me of the vanilla bean, marshmallow, and benzoin trio from the recent past. It’s billowy and floofy! The grapefruit is also very present as a round and bold citrus but not sharp or astringent. The two notes together remind me of a sorbet or sherbert. it’s a really joyful scent.

The Dregs of a Bottle of Vanilla Extract (Discovered in the Mud)
lithie replied to doomsday_disco's topic in The Edward Gorey House
This is a beautiful light and gentle scent. I agree with Little Bird that this is reminiscent of Gypsy Moth (one of my absolute faves!). The vanilla and mud are both dry and sort of dusty. I love it though I wish it had more throw.- 6 replies

I bought this thinking it would be in the same family as to a wreath of snow. It is and it isn’t. It’s more gender neutral, perhaps a touch masc in comparison to that. In the bottle and wet on the skin it is discordant - sharp and weird but this stage doesn’t last long. After abt 10 minutes it settles into its lovely, hazy self. I get the white sandalwood and the spices, smoothed out by the orris vetiver and cedar. If i were to give it a colour it’s a grey-green, just like the picture. I don’t have anything else like it so I’m glad i took the chance! Medium throw and longevity.

I really like this one! It is not what I expected at all, but I’m not getting cucumber like the others. I do get a brightness - almost a gentle citrus?? I think it’s the wormwood. It does have a really neat ethereal and otherworldliness to it. Basically, it somehow turns into more than the sum of its parts.

2024 version. In the bottle and first applied, I get the sharp screechy and discordant smell others described. Immediately on the skin I get the hairspray mentioned before and what I assume is the mugwort. BUT as soon as it dries, maybe 15 minutes in, it totally changes to a gorgeous opium/vanilla/plum. This section is really well blended and it all meshes together. hours later it’s a sweet plum that hangs close to the skin. i have a mild cold right now so I can’t be 100% certain, but this doesn’t seem to have a big throw.

This is really beautiful. I agree with the above review of it being sun-warmed. The grasses here are dry and warm. The sandalwood really brightens and smooths it out and the mandrake and patchouli give it a little depth/oomph. The dry grasses are the star here. It’s a perfect end of summer scent, especially for those of us in a warmer climate.

This seems to be a lilac single note for me, too. I’m not a floral person but I do love purple florals (lavender, lilac, and wisteria). It’s a little screechy at the moment but I’m curious to see what this one does as it ages so I’ll be keeping it. I think I’ll try layering it with the bourbon vanilla HG or even the hay & vanilla trio. Curious!

I love this! It’s exactly what I was hoping for. It has some oomph to it, some richness. It’s not a gossimer or dry vanilla, but it’s also not floofy or foodie. This is backup worthy for me. A perfect hair gloss.

This is gorgeous! Beeswax is the start and it’s creamy, tinged with vanilla, and smoothed out with a hint of woodiness from the pine. The beeswax in this is very reminiscent of beeswax, bourbon vanilla, and cedar wood (one of my favourites!)

This is more ...gourmand than I expected. It's rather sweet and I think it's coming from the combination of corn and hay (like the hay from vanilla, hay, and nutmeg).

This reminds me a lot of sticking my head into a bag of jolly rangers. I couldn’t put my finger on what I was smelling at first, but another forumite helped me narrow it to cherry. This is like cherry limeade jolly rangers. I like it

This is much more of a lavender - oakmoss - spikenard forward blend than a patch - vanilla - sugar blend. On the dry down it softens with the balsam showing up to the party. Edit almost 1 month later: I have to agree with Elissa below. The wet phase of this, like You Get What Anyone Gets, is kind of off-putting and pungent. But the other notes start to swoop in and warm up as it dries down. It's never sweet, but it's fancy and full of intrigue. It leans masculine, but it's not what I think of when I think cologne. It gets nicer and nicer as the hours pass. It's not one that I would reach for on a daily basis, but it's definitely a mood I want to hang on to and to revisit here and there.

I was intimidated to try this at first because I wasn't in love with the smell in the bottle, which seemed like all sharp ylang ylang. I love love love and NEED the intention of this oil, though, so I finally bit the bullet last night and was pleasantly surprised! The patchouli is a background player, mostly undetectable? Maybe just giving it a little oomph. I get a soft and ephemeral tangerine lavender with light tansy giving it kind of a herby-floral feel. It's very comforting and uplifting. I love this.
