In bottle: weird. It's definitely honey and herbs, with maybe a touch of fruit, but I'm having no luck with individual notes. Wet: almost sickeningly sweet. Instantly burns the skin. Complex and green with a honey floral thing going on. Smells a little like sweet cake too. If it weren't for the skin burning, this wouldn't be bad. Unfortunately even a mild rash is a deal breaker. Dry: honey sweet floral.

    Recommmendations for Green Scents

I second Robin Goodfellow. I don't know why I didn't mention it as it's one of my staple imps. I think Asphodel's slated to go, so if you want to try it, I suggest hurrying.

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore mostly Krampus and Capricorn leading up to Solstice and Christmas.

    Fruitcake

In bottle: sweet cake, a hint of booze (rum maybe?), and sweet candied fruit. Spices, maybe cinnamon, but something else familiar I'm not putting my finger on. surprisingly sweet and delicate. Wet: Almost pure alcohol, with a hint of the other stuff underneath. Dry: Swings back to cake and candied fruit.

    Chuparosa

In the bottle: Floral. Maybe honeysuckle, lily, and violet? Smells like pollen and early spring flowers. Wet: Almost boozy. Same floral as before with more rose in it. Maybe a touch of vanilla or honey. It's surprisingly nice for a floral, bright and fresh and complex. Dry: Fades fast, which is a shame as it's not bad for a floral.

    Bess

I read the ingredients and decided not to put this on my skin, so this is an in the bottle review. Very, very grape, with a little rose, citrus, and mint underneath. Very much not my thing and it made me rather queasy just sniffing it.

    Bastet

I've heard good things about this, including from Silverblue, whose skin chemistry is similar to mine, so the anticipation is strong. In bottle: smells like musk and marzipan. Wet: Very complex and heady. All the expected elements show through, though amber, musk, myrrh, and almond are strongest. The spices give it an unexpected edge, the claws of the cat. This one embodies it's concept well, the musk and amber making the fur of the sybaritic cat woman with the lotus and spice making fangs and claws. Rawr! Dry: Mostly musk and amber, but in a good way. It really does smell of exotic women and desert wind.

    Arcana

I could have sworn I'd tried this before. certainly, the ingredients suggest it would be interesting, but I have no record of it. In bottle: All lemon verbena with a hint of women's cologne. Not promising. Wet: still mostly lemon verbena, but I think I can catch a hint of the other ingredients under it. Think lemon heads in a room someone burned intense in. Dry: Lemon Pledge, with a hint of Frankincense.

Looking for scents that smell like chai

I do like Plunder and count dracula, but hadn't associated either with chai. Thanks.

    Recommmendations for Green Scents

I definitely recommend embalming fluid, 51, and squirting Cucumber. You might also try Kumiho. I find that green tea really does smell Green.

Oh how she loves the pretty pepper

Bengal is way too much cinnamon for me as my skin really amps it. White Rabbit would be perfect if it weren't for the linen. Dr. John Seward is one of my all time favorites, though, and Plunder is quite nice. Wrath is okay, but only when my skin chemistry is right.

Looking for scents that smell like chai

Alice definitely smells like rose on me. I like Dorian fine and it was in my second bottle order ever. Bengal simply doesn't work on me, alas.

Looking for scents that smell like chai

I like cardamom in my chai. I have an excellent chai roobos with cardamom for drinking. as to chailike BPAL, silk road was too intense for me. I haven't tried the Lion. Is there one people can suggest with no rose or orange? (or vetiver, orris, and mint for that matter.)

    Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

In bottle: Smells like patchouli and wood lacquer, with a hint of caramel. Eww, but appropriate. Wet: Still too much patchouli. The wood lacquer morphs to similar, yet more pleasing lacquered wood. Maybe that wood box holds candy. The food scents dodge in and out, mostly overwhelmed by the other stuff, but peeking out to say hello as if the box were opening and shutting. I am surprised there is no cinnamon in this, as it smells like there is. I'm liking it a lot better now. It gets sweeter as it wears. This is not a foody dominant blend like the other Monster baits. I'm okay with that. It is a very masculine scent, BTW, evoking cigar boxes and a hint of sleeze, yet maintaining an air of mystery. Considering by disapointment on opening the bottle, I'm extra impressed. Dry: Pleasant polished wood chest, hinting of shipboard travel to exotic lands. I'm liking it.

    Pollution

In bottle: Woof! Radioactive is right. I've never smelled davana by itself before, but I'm guessing from descriptions of it that it's the thing making the fruity shampoo smell. The Musk and amber give it a sharper edge and the whole thing reminds me of a perfume my mom used to were at Christmas. It also almost smells like mint. Wet: Much the same, only more aftershavelike. dry: OMG Better. It goes more masculine and amber/musky. It smells almost spicy. The effect is pleasing and a real surprise after the disappointment of the initial smell. I'm guessing the rich fruity and vaguely nutty/woody undertone is how davana reacts to my skin. if so, nice turn around.

    Lady Una

Honey musk, green tea leaf, blackberry leaf, vanilla bean, and fae spices. In the bottle: Honey spiced tea and vanilla, so sweet and tasty. It smells a lot like Bigger critters, if you like that. Very foody, but also smelling a bit like blackberry bramble on a hot day, though the scent itself gives the impression of a chill breeze rising suddenly on a warm day, which suits the theme. I wouldn't have guessed green tea if i hadn't known, but rather Queen Victoria blend with honey and milk. (This is a blend of three teas including green and black. It's a heavier scent than I associate with pure green, but in a good way). Wet: The spice really comes out, blending well with the other elements. Dry: vanilla honey tea mostly, with a hint of the other elements.

    Famine

In the Bottle: Frankincense and lilac with a hint of musk. I was expecting something less femme fatale. Ah well. Wet: whoa1 that turned fast. the tobacco leaf and musk come out to compete with the lighter elements making something vaguely untrustworthy, sweetly seductive, more androgynous. It is still a touch more feminine than I'd like, but it's wearable. I wish there was more tea in it as I like black tea fragrances. Dry: Frankincense, hint of lilac, and powder. This fades super fast on me. Nice idea, but I'm glad I didn't invest in a full bottle.

    Spirits of the Dead

Confession time. I've been wanting to try this for months. This was before I realized that orris was poison. I bid on it because it was well below market without rereading the ingredients. Oops. I was rather hoping I'd get outbid, but no dice, so here it is. In bottle: yummy. Very Embalming fluid, Kumiho, and Johnathon Harker. Fresh, green, lemony tea scent. Wet: Unimpressive at first. All lemon. I'm guessing linden blossom smells citrusy. Who knew. My skin amplifies anything citrus, so your results will likely vary. The tea is present. I'm not getting that OMG eew orris response, so I'm guessing this degrades over time. unfortunately, so did the wood and papyrus. It's nice enough to wear, but I'm very glad I got it cheap. dry: The linden/tea combo fades down enough for the payrus, wood, and yes orris to show. The orris is very week luckily and the rest is pleasing though weaker than I'd like. I admit, I enjoy paper and wood scents and this has a cozy dry feel to it under the teaness. I'm liking it, though it's a little too delicate. Unfortunately, this doesn't last well. Over all, it's not bad but could be both worse or better. The blue bottle is pretty though.

    Lycaon

In the bottle: Much sweeter than one would expect and pleasantly resiny. I am noticing two types of Myrrh, blackened and sweet (opoponax), and frankincense right off the bat. I am willing to bet that spikenard is the thing mingling so pleasantly with the opoponax. The cypress and ginger give it a little bite. I'm not sure what olive leaf smells like, but I'm betting that's what's giving the cypress it's odd depth. The effect is complex, incensey with a hint of something more feral underneath. It is a rich scent hinting at sacred groves think with incense and surrounded by herbs. Wet: the elements separate a little, giving a sweet upper layer reminiscent of bigger critters, with a darker layer lead by the cypress, patchouli, and blackened myrrh underneath. Unfortunately, my skin seems to swallow it, eating up a lot of the nuance. Did I mention the patchouli? In the bottle, it's unnoticeable. On my skin... yeah. Maybe these are hippy cannibals, the Manson family as werewolves. Dry: Not so good. Powdery patchouli and Frankincense, mostly. maybe Nard, it's hard to tell. It's not awful or anything, but the dry down is sad because the in the bottle scent was knock it out of the park.

    Capricorn 2007

In bottle: pine, amberette, and tobacco, something herbal/medicinal and something sweet. I'm not familiar enough with the ingredients to separate out which is which. Wet: The pine is super strong, but the other elements add pleasant nuance, the amberette and more subtle elements soon rising to join the pine scent, turning it soft and sweet. Honestly, I don't remember ordering this and I generally don't like pine colognes since the pine tends to overwhelm. This is really appealing though, and I'm not sorry. As Solstice scents go, it rocks socks. Dry: Turns into a pleasantly sharp, clean, aftershavey scent. I'm really liking this: It's butch without being overbearing, suggesting the classic PNW hiker man. Edit: Okay, this is seriously made of win. It's still going strong approximately 10 hours after application and still has a pleasant masculine outdoorsy thing going on. The pine and cypress stay present, but blend with the sweeter and more herbal elements to make something I am rapidly falling in love with. I think this will be a staple. Edit again: It was still going beautifully 14 hours after first application, and I had a hint of it on my skin and pillow when i woke up later. Wow!

    Antique Lace

From the description, I knew this would be unlikely to appeal to me. In the bottle: Very vanilla, with an intense cheap candy scent over linen and some floral, I'm not quite identifying. Wet: Vanilla powder with a faint sweet floral perfume. dry: vanilla powder. Way not my thing, but better than I expected. Mild and inoffensive.

    Two, Five & Seven

This is an in bottle review. Wine rose is remarkably obvious over the muddiness of all that rose essence mixed together. it's hard to pick out the others, even if i did know what they all smelled like. The softer roses are lost under the stronger smelling ones. i can't spot the grass, but frankly, the whole thing is a little overwhelming.
  23. Gwydion

    Temple: Celtic

In the bottle: Rose. I'm guessing tea rose, but I could be mistaken as to which type of rose it is. I'm guessing maybe melon or cucumber too, or some faint herbs not mush else. Wet: Lots of rose with a hint of green. Dry: Softer version of the same.
  24. Gwydion

    Red Phoenix

In the bottle: Red musk and patchouli, mostly. I have been thinking I prefer white musk to red just generally and I think this clinches it. Wet: Better. The more subtle elements come out to play. i can't smell the mandarin at all, but tht's to the good, as i haven't much luck with orange notes. The plum and cassia are subtle, but lend it body. It almost smells spicey, like there's a hint of cinnamon. i like the way the tonka smooths things out. Dry: Surprisingly sexy woman's perfume, pleasantly femme fatale without being overbearing. This would be hot on the right woman.

    Queen of Clubs

In Bottle: startling. Definitely an eye opener. It smells strongly of wet freshly turned earth. there is something very sharp in there. Is that the incense maybe? The rose is present, but not strong. Wet: Muddy fruit, trampled roses. Dry: Muddy trampled roses. Darn. I was really liking it at first. it was oddly refreshing.
