  1. Hmm. This definitely confirms something has changed from how it used to be, but who knows what it is. Even SO variant imps from 2019 are fresh still.

For comparison, I have a bottle thats 7-8+ years old that I bought from someone. I also used to have a bottle from eBay that was (as seller said) 2+ years old. That one was dark and nicely aged. Not as much as the older one, obviously, but it was newer. Both aren't like the 2019 version.

I remember the old description of SO changing a while back too. It did make me worry that maybe it's been reformulated. 🤔

  2. I have a straight-from-the-lab bottle of Snake Oil from January 2019 that (after nearly 3 years) still is very fresh smelling. It's still clear and hasn't really aged at all. I think it's pretty bizarre because from what other people have said, they typically age much faster than this. I posted about it elsewhere and someone else mentioned that their bottle of SO from around the same time period was like mine-- still fresh and pretty much unaged.

I wonder what is different about this particular batch?? Is it ever going to do its aged Snake Oil magic?

  3. I tried the 2010 version. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. While it does not smell bad, per se, I just didn't like it. To me, it smells like breakfast on my skin... It reminds me too much of this Haus of Gloi scent I tried before called Vanilla Tranquilty (it has a porridge note with vanilla, etc). I just could not get past that smell. Nothing eerie or spooky here. I think maybe the cream took over and that's why it smelled that way?

  4. I just put this on ten minutes ago. It smells pretty floral-y to me. I guess it's jasmine because that seems to be the general consensus here. Unfortunately, I feel the sting of what is probably cinnamon! Noooo. It's turning my skin red. :(

I was hoping for cola/incense but I'm not getting any of that from this. I think this one is probably a pass for me.

  5. This smells like a salty buttered popcorn ball coated in caramel! Mmmmmm. Drool-worthy. I want popcorn now! 🤤

Edit: I ended up not really digging the dry-down of this. It went kinda pee pee smelling on me. Something to do with the popcorn/butter in it.

  6. I think this scent is my "holy grail". I just don't think that there is a better scent than this for me. As a lover of vanilla and incense, I think it was just meant to be. I love it soooo. ❤️

I am so glad this one works on me. I blind bought an aged full bottle last year. Love at first sniff! I have since bought a couple more bottles and the bath oil. Still need that hair gloss in my life though!

I can't really say enough good things about it. Snake Oil is MAGIC :wub3:

    Edit:

Every time I put this on, I wonder why I ever even want to buy/wear other scents. Thank you, Beth, for sharing this with the world!

  7. Well crap. I don't know about this one now that I've tried it on. I got told that I smell like "baby powder" (nooooooooo!). If someone tells me I smell like baby powder when I wear something, I tend to not want to wear it ever again. Regular aged Snake Oil does not smell like baby powder on me. I'm not sure how old this bottle is (1 or two years I think). It isn't dark and opaque-ish like aged SO, so I don't know. The label is the one with the vintage looking drawing of the nude woman sitting down being blasted with whatever that hand is holding... Haha

Not sure if I should wait this one out and let it age some more or just let it go. 😕

  8. Aw man, I just found out that I can't wear this! It turns my skin red. :( I can't even wear this on my wrists! My skin is just too sensitive for cinnamon oil in this concentration. I don't want to buy a scent locket just for this.

Guess I'm gonna have to trade this for something without cinnamon in it. It smells really good though. Bummer.

  9. I don't put this in the bath, I like to slather it on myself. Others have said it already and they're right... This stuff smells heavenly. Sooooooooo gooooood. I don't ever want to be without it.

Edit: This does smell more foodie than the perfume oil. For some reason it kind of reminds me of donuts. Mmmmm...
