  1. Have you tried Jezirat Al Tennyn? It's got this amazing rainforest smell with exotic blooms a hint of fresh earth.

Manila sounds like it would be lovely too. (A tropical, humid, lush scent, with a faint echo of Pacific breezes, jungle blossoms, and deep wet woods. Sampaguita blossoms, banana leaf, palm, and narra.) As would Machu Picchu (Sweet tropical fruits burst through deep, wet rainforest boughs, enormous steamy blossoms, over thin mountaintop breezes, mingled with the soft, rich golden scent of Peruvian amber.).

  2. Scents with cream, teas, or spices tend to make me feel coziest. My warmest, cuddliest scents are:

Alice- this smells very creamy, almost ginger bread-like on me. It's soft, warm, and enveloping like a hug from grandma. Reminds me of rice pudding for some reason..

White Rabbit- reminds me of the teas I'd have with my grandmother. The linen, the sweet tea, the pepper, and ginger bring back fond memories and is a soothing balm for me.

Shub-Niggurath- this is very buttery with a nice ginger-y, spicy bite to it. Smells like something freshly baked and delicious. It always makes me feel warm and eases my upset stomach.

Death Cap- very earthy and soothing, particularly if you like to garden (or just like the smell of earth, like I do). Earth and vanilla.

Now when I need to be cheered up, I turn to my fruity, more bubbly scents. My favorite uplifting scents are:

Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo- smells like Kool-Aid on but does this stuff ever work! It will lift your mood within minutes!

Delirium- more of a fruity floral, it's certainly perky. Rose, apple, lemon. After wearing this, I'm usually found giddily sniffing my wrists.

Embalming Fluid- this was my first love. White musk, green tea, aloe, and lemon. It's light, crisp, and clean.

Croquet- very bubbly scent. Musky, fruity, floral, everything. You just have to try it. You won't regret it.

Vampire Tears- was love at first sniff. Sweet green tea mixed with a fruity floral. It perks me up like nothing else. Instant happy. I turn to this right after Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo.

  3. Initial Impression: powdery floral

On Wet: violet, frankincense, something that smells vaguely grassy

On Dry: ylang ylang, moss, violet, hint of frankincense

Final Impression: I'm shocked that I love something that smells so sweet, but I do.

    Rating (on a scale from 1-5): 4.5

  4. Initial Impression: Woah! Really strong vetivert.

On Wet: This must be a really aged imp, it's so strong. I smell patchouli and vetivert. A turpentine-like smell, as well. This is making me sick. Must wash off.

On Dry: Never got to this stage.

Final Impression: I gave this two tries and both times I got sick and headache-y from it. It's overwhelmingly strong even when used sparingly.

    Rating (on a scale from 1-5): 1

  5. Tomorrow is our 6th wedding anniversary, I'm going to wear White Phoenix.

Congratulations, andrabell! Here's to many years of happiness for you both! :P

I haven't thought much about what I'll wear tonight. It'll only be a small get-together since my daughter's been sick. I usually run on instinct at the last minute when choosing a scent, but I think I might be in the mood for Les Bijoux tonight. That may change at a moment's notice, though.

  6. Initial Impression: berries and spices

On Wet: amber, spice, berries, hint of iris

    On Dry: iris, spice, amber

Final Impression: Although I wish the berries stuck around longer, I do really like this. It's very exotic.

    Rating (on a scale from 1-5): 4

  7. Initial Impression: cinnamon, sugar, and fruit

On Wet: sugar, musk, sandalwood, hint of cassia, mango and lemon

On Dry: same notes, blended and a lot more faded

Final Impression: Really love this, but it faded so much.

    Rating (on a scale from 1-5): 3.5

  8. Initial Impression: freshly turned earth

On Wet: earth and something sweet (vanilla?)

On Dry: sweeter, more vanilla with an earthy background.

Final Impression: This smells so good! I can't stop sniffing my arm!

Rating (on a scale from 1-5): 5! Must have a big bottle of this!

  9. Initial Impression: wine

On Wet: wine (Urgh! I don't know if I can take smelling like a wino..)

On Dry: grape, spice and honey

Finale Impression: As strange as the drydown was, I really liked it.

    Rating (on a scale from 1-5): 3.5
