    Treat #1

OOOooooo... I am such a sweet junkie, and this stuff is the ultimate sugar scent! So sweet and fruity and juicy watermelon candy-like... I cannot get enough of it. It smells like I rolled in watermelon jolly ranchers and bathed in fizzy cherry kool-aid, and I can see how that would likely be frightning for some, but I just love it- I feel so... ummm... lickable! I could bathe in this scent...

    Pruno

This scent was much nicer on me than I expected with some of the reviews... I also usually do not do well with the alcohol blends, but this one gave me no strong alcohol scent- maybe justt of fruity wine cooler It is a fun, fruity, bubbly scent that is reminicent of Swank or The Hamptons. I get a very strong orange crush mixed with fresh tomato leaf which really combines quite nicely togehter. On drydown it gets more of an edge of 'fizziness' or tang to it which lends to the character of the scent. This is a fresh, clean scent that has some perk to it!

The Fox-Woman Kuzunoha Leaving Her Child

The smell of this in the vial is a very sharp white tea and jasmine, that almost reminds me of rubbing alcohol... When on, the alchohol like smell vanishes a bit as the jasmine comes forth and rears its head. Jasmine amps on me incredibly, but I was really hoping the cherry blossom would tame it a bit. Unfortunately this is all jasmine flowers and white tea on me with the faintest hint of wisteria and the soapiness that others have gotten as well... It mellows a bit as it dries, and if you are looking for a not too extreme, but muted jasmine scent, this may be the one. The wistera comes through quite a bit more turning this into a very pretty (though still somewhat soapy) floral scent. I never got much for cherry blossom or teak though.

    The Fool

Wow, this blend successfully manages to be fruity and minty at the same time, without one overpowering the other! I really like the smell of this breathing in, but when breathing out, it has an odd kind of almost urine like smell to me that is just slightly off. I have a really strong sense of smell, so I doubt this would be detected very easily, but it happens to be the dealbreaker for me.... I have had this in a blend before, and will have to sleuth out which note it is that does this for me... maybe the pennyroyal?

    The World

Mmmmmm... Root Beer... Seriously though, there must be sweet birch in here or something, because I get a very root beer like smell like sweet birch tends to impart when wet, along with a touch of cinnamon and hint of woods in the background. This one is delightful, and as said before, really seems to span the categories well without fitting into any particular one. I am getting a touch of what I believe is vetiver in the far background, giving it an earthy quality (I realllly amp vetiver) but not enough to make me feel any less for this blend, so fellow vetiver-avoidees, do not fear... Quite a lovely blend overall (especially if you are a fan of root beer).

    Lime!

I got a lot of lime out of Crouquet from the Mad Tea Party set, and found it quite divine (like fresh limeade!): CROQUET- 'Get to your places!' shouted the Queen in a voice of thunder, and people began running about in all directions, tumbling up against each other; however, they got settled down in a minute or two, and the game began. Alice thought she had never seen such a curious croquet-ground in her life; it was all ridges and furrows; the balls were live hedgehogs, the mallets live flamingoes, and the soldiers had to double themselves up and to stand on their hands and feet, to make the arches. The chief difficulty Alice found at first was in managing her flamingo: she succeeded in getting its body tucked away, comfortably enough, under her arm, with its legs hanging down, but generally, just as she had got its neck nicely straightened out, and was going to give the hedgehog a blow with its head, it would twist itself round and look up in her face, with such a puzzled expression that she could not help bursting out laughing: and when she had got its head down, and was going to begin again, it was very provoking to find that the hedgehog had unrolled itself, and was in the act of crawling away: besides all this, there was generally a ridge or furrow in the way wherever she wanted to send the hedgehog to, and, as the doubled-up soldiers were always getting up and walking off to other parts of the ground, Alice soon came to the conclusion that it was a very difficult game indeed. We have some trouble managing our flamingos, too. Pink lime, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, wild rose, sage, woody patchouli, bergamot, and ornery hedgehog musk.

    Satyr

Well, starting off, I know I am not a fan of civet, but that being said, I took a chance and uncapped this anyhow... Oooo... Eeep... Uuugh... In the imp this smells to me like really, really bad breath. Seriously, I almost started gagging. However, against all better judgement, and knowing how tricky and shape-shifting these blends can be once applied, I took a deep breath and dabbed verrrrry lightly on a knuckle... OK, now it smells like bad breath and goat. And kinda like there is a hint of something that someone is using to try to cover that terrible smell up, which just makes it worse somehow. This literally makes my stomach churn... must...wash...off...now. This is the first completely adverse reaction I have had to a BPAL scent with the exception of Nosferatu (which just smelly like moldy dirt and amped incredibly when it hit my skin). I am glad there are others that this one works for... And like Nosferatu it seems like this just will not wash off... Which will be a plus for the fans of it out there!

    Aizen-Myoo

In the imp this is a nicely blended, ever so slightly sweet but very tart/sharp citrus. Wet on my skin... Holy grapefruit! OMG tartness with the slightest touch of mandarin orange hesitantly lurking in the background and barely preventing my sinuses from tart overload... And I LIKE tart stuff! As this dries, the bitter, pith-like edge to the tartness fades a bit and the mandarin orange hesitantly peeks it head out to see if it is safe to come out yet. Apparently deciding that it is, it comes out to mingle with grapefruit, who seems to have come to the conclusion that it does not want to kill me, and is now sitting under a cherry blossom tree, casually sipping a cup of a nice, faint smelling tea (still eyeing me up somewhat meancingly, nonetheless)... At a later drydown I get more of a scent similar to the smell when in the imp- a very nicely blended (but tart- still very tart) citrus with a nice sweetness (I think this is the cherry blossom) balancing the zing vey well. Really quite lovely on the drydown, and not in-your-face at all, but a very non-traditional, clean fresh type of scent.

    Come to Me

In the imp, this is incredibly faint and slightly floral smelling... As soon as it hits my skin, it becomes a very prominent cucumber (somewhat like B&BW Cucumber Melon) that starts to get a bit soapy after a few minutes (smells a bit like Ivory), but without the funny chemical smell underlying it. It fades pretty quickly into a light, herby blue/green floral that becomes a very cucumber/lily of the valley kind of smell with what might be rose lurking reaalllly far in the background. Certainly a clean fresh smell, but not one I would usually associate with a perfume. Not that that is a bad thing! This one may take a little getting used to...

    Calliope

Whew... in the vial this has a delightful, playfully herbal lavender smell with an orange undertone. But wet, this goes on and the verbena takes over completely, reminding me of Lemonhead candy, or possibly lemon Pledge... It smells good, but nothing I would wear as a scent. Dry, the pledge smell dissapates and I am let with a very pungent thyme, thyme, thyme smell. I really can't pick up much of anything else except the slightest hint of the verbena in the far, far background. My skin just amps the thyme completely, and leaves me smelling very herbal but medicinal. Nope, this one just isn't happening for me...

    Shango

Wow. In the vial this is pure, sweet tropical fruit madness! It reminds me of a tropical fruit smoothie like the kind you would get at Orange Julius. When first applied this smells to me like a combination of a sweet, mild coconut and the banana scratch-and-sniff stickers I had as a kid. There are other notes there for certain, but lurking pretty far in the background. Upon drydown the banana takes a backseat and the coconut comes up front, dragging along its friends, red apple and pineapple, with pomegranite lurking shyly behind. The whole mix is strongly accented by a sugary sweetness that may be to much for some, but I personally love the sugared blends, and really adore this note. Balancing the sweetness a bit is a touch of sharpness (but only a little tiny bit) that I am attributing to the cayenne. The coconut seems to pop in and out of the party (never being too pushy though), at times being much more prominent that others, and other times allowing pineapple to have some of the focus. In the meantime, red apple and pomegranite seem to just kinda dance together quietly in the background. Normally coconut in blends just takes over for me, but this one is very well balanced. This is a tropical fruity party on my arm... absolutely excellent!

    Persephone

Oh boy, is this one a keeper! I love roses and adore pomegranite, so I had my hopes up for this one... and boy was I not disappointed! This scent is so fresh and ripe and dripping with juiciness! The rose and pomegranite play so well together with neither one taking over too much. This is such a clean, sweet, happy scent- Maybe it was because it just made me feel so juicy and feminine, but I actually noticed it seemed as if people were really hanging around to chat alot longer when I wore this one out! It has an innocence to it, but a strong touch of feminine romance at the same time. This doesn't seem to morph much on me, but stays pretty true with a really wonderful throw to it.

    Cancer 2007

Oooo, this one really is delightful! When wet, I really get a prominent scent of wild lettuce and chamomile with what seems to be a touch of sweet pea... Once this is on for a moment, a really neat aquatic type quality comes out on this one, and the notes blend together so well, it is hard to pinpoint any on their own. It turns into a really complex blend that seems not quite floral and not quite aquatic, but a little of both. On the drydown, this become a very beautiful, very feminine scent that seems to have a more traditional 'perfumey' smell than most BPAL blends, like something you would wear out somewhere very nice. It is not too rich, but does not seem casual in the least to me. A watery sweet pea and chamomile seem to take center stage with the wild lettuce making a bit of noise in the background in the final stages of drying. I can see this one being popular!

    The Death Of Sardanapal

Whew! In the bottle this has a very sweet, boozy smell to me, with a hint of cassia lurking somewhere.... Wet, the cassia hits hard, but is equaled by a very cloyingly sweet raisiny red wine (wine and honey) that is almost overpowering ... after a few minutes it settles a bit into what reminds me very much of a craft store, and the boozy quality dies down a bit. Dry, the cloying sweet smell resigns itself somewhat (still sweet now, but not sickingly so), and the wine and cassia come out to play together and mingle well, without the powerful boozy smell that was there when wet. Not one for me, though I usually adore cinnamony scents, but the alcohol notes just don't play well with my skin chemistry and tastes.

    Silk Road

MMmmmm, Chai Tea! Or maybe Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice... I love chai tea, and this oil reminds me of a spicy version of it (cinnamon/cassia, cardamon, black pepper perhaps) with a hint of something else lurking behind. When wet it is a very complex scent, but as it dries on me, it mellowed into this great chai scent that reminded me a bit of BPAL's Bengal oil as well... I do like this one! It really seems to have a good throw, and decent staying power too.

    Sylph

In the bottle, the lavender hit so strong that it was about all I could smell for a moment... I detected a faint sniff of something that reminded me slightly of Lemongrass... When this was on, all kinds of citrusy and herbal notes decided to come out and play with the lavender, which was all fun and games... until... After drydown, this turned very soapy and powdery on me... The citrus disappeared pretty much completely within 15 minutes, and left a fresh herbal scent intermingling with the soapiness... Almost like men's aftershave or something. I would think this would be a great blend for the guys, but it was a bit too masculine for me afer drying...

    Kathmandu

This was a very spicy scent straight from the bottle... I usually like spicy stuff, but I actually set this one aside for a week or so before deciding to go ahead try it on myself to gain the true effect... When this finally happened I was pleasantly surprised as a very intriguing mixture of incense and spicy rootbeer hit my nose. It was a delicious scent when wet, and I silently reminded myself to try more oils on before passing them up... It lasted for a minute or two, before the rootbeer smell mellowed out into more of a cedarwood scent, at which point I could pick up an array of spices in there, as well as the saffron pretty distinctly. The spices died down, and the cedarwood took over a bit too much however after it dried down a while, and I ended up smelling like cedar chips about 20 minutes into it. It was beautiful while it lasted though...

    Rapture

In the bottle this appears to me as a strong and somewhat complex jasmine, with a background of rose lurking close behind... Wet, this just turns in to super-jasmine.... very, very strong jasmine. It smells good, but I am not the biggest fan of strong jasmine... When this dries however, this takes on a more balanced rose and jasmine scent with something else that seems to reming me of lilacs. I like this one, but this is a once-in-a-while perfume blend for me. I do love to use this to scent my bedroom though- it is very romantic and somewhat dramatic scent.
  19. mystery213

    Blood

This has to be my absolute favorite oil so far... This is so rich with cherry and dragons blood straight from the vial- I could sniff this for hours (I adore rich cherry blends)! When I put this on, it smells just like a head shop I worked at through much of my teenage years... heady, sweet cherry incense with a rich feel, that is ever so slightly spicy with a ghost of clove... This one lasts on me for a long time retaining its scent- I will be getting a large bottle of this one!
  20. mystery213

    Velvet

Oooooh, in the bottle this is pure creamy cocoa and vanilla with a touch of spice... When worn, this ends up really retaining the rich, decadent chocolately smell for a while, then mellowing out to a more musky scent when the Sandalwood finally seems to make an appearance. I don't wear this myself, but do keep a bottle of this around for my daughter to wear sometimes. It makes her smell irresistably yummy!

    Jailbait

Sniffing this straight from the vial, The first thing that came to mind was bright pink Big League Chew bubble gum that came in a pouch when I was a kid, or yes, Bazooka Joe perhaps... When I first put this on, I detected some very sugared, playful fruity (and ever so slightly citrusy) notes come dancing in, making this much more complex and flirty... This lasted for quite while! After the drydown, this mellowed out a little too much on me, and became more powdery floral than fruity... Still one to keep around for those playful days though...

    The Red Queen

Well, my first impression of this when opening the bottle was 'Wow, awesome!'! I loved the deep, rich cherry smell (I love cherries) and it is so hard to find a good 'cherry' perfume oil. However when I put it on, It almost immediately lost most of the cherry scent and morphed into what reminded me of cedarwood shavings... it smelled good, but too much like hamster bedding. Still looking for a good cherry blend...
