  1. I was hoping for more gingerbread. There's some at the beginning but then the scent changes to what to my nose reads as tobacco & cream. And, of course, it's strong & long-lasting cause I really don't like it ;) (though I have no problem with regular Goblin). Much less patchouli & coconut than the original.

  2. Have a look for Shattered Pumpkin (Soil-covered crushed pumpkin, water-weeds, saddle-leather, and pine pitch, from 2008) & Pumpkin Smash (Pumpkin pulp, beeswax candles, smoke, asphalt, and beer, from 2007, some people report some spice but it's probably the beeswax)

I love Samhain but don't notice the pumpkin - it's all earthy spiced apples on me. Put it on your wishlist anyway, you never know.

  3. Good

Clean & sweet, then creamy & a little bit tangy - it reminds me of Nivea cream which was my Mum's moisturizer when I was little.

Amusing scent memory but not something I would wear.

(I tried layering it with Paladin which I find a bit too light but somehow that just made Good smell cleaner so it was even less my thing.)

  4. Bard

On application, I get musky vanilla with honey & maybe a tiny hint of white floral. As it dries, the honey gets a beeswax aspect to it & a slight tangy spice.

Pretty & feminine - I'm not getting any bay rum or woods. There's no way my husband is even going to try this on.

But honey lovers should be all over this one. :)

  5. There seems to be some strong batch variations with The Book.

I first had a decant that I really liked - it was dusty parchment with some spice but not too sweet, then slight leather followed by soft incense at the end. I swapped it away thinking I wouldn't wear it that much but then snapped up a partial bottle when I saw one available. Unfortunately, that batch was super strong with what I'm guessing is the chemically ink note that Gwydion also noticed plus a rather harsh leather that I don't care for at all.

I wish I had the softer more cologney version :(

  6. Tristan! (Dust on your trousers, mud on your boots, and stars in your eyes: redwood, tonka bean, white sandalwood, lemon peel, patchouli, rosewood, coriander, and crushed mint.)

Both decants I've tried had a nice brown leather note though it's not listed (I'm assuming it's the boots in the description).

Dee is also generally awesome as is Port Royal.

  7. Titania has staying power! I would also try Hunger Moon, Cheshire Moon & Lady Death:Savage, too. Oh, and maybe Tattered Lace.

They're all bright with something warmer underneath that seems to last pretty well (on me, anyway). I like to switch between them when I get tired of wearing Dorian.

  8. I tried this without looking at the notes & got berries & soft woods, so the ylang ylang & neroli must be combining to seem berry-like to my nose. It's quite fruity overall with a little sandalwood wafting in & out, and a bit of something faintly aquatic in the background. I get a hint of orange occasionally, too.

I'm not a fan of aquatics generally but this is really pretty (& it gets nostalgia points because my Mum is from the Rheinland & Lorelei was a childhood story for me). Yes to a bottle purchase!

  9. I think Lorelei is really pretty (neroli, sandalwood & ylang ylang).

The ylang ylang & neroli combo seems berry-like to my nose with a little sandalwood wafting in & out, and a bit of something aquatic in the background.

  10. For foody LE's that may or may not return this year but should be available on the Sales/Swaps Pages: Pumpkin Latte, Trick or Treat, Sugar Skull (not everyone gets brown sugar from it but some do), Boo, Huesos de Santo, Marshmallow Pumpkin, Mother Shub's Spiced Lait de Chevre (even though it was a Yule scent), Pickled Imp & SawScaled Viper from Carnaval Diabolique, any of the Beaver Moons, Sprinklecakes, Spice Bush Swallowtail

GC's: Jack, Bengal, Chimera, Miskatonic University (tons of caramel on me), Molly Grue, Bread & Butterfly

I like Samhain for my leafy apple fix but many people find it too intense. October is really strong. To Autumn was nice - leafy with hints of nuts & woods, no rose that I noticed.

  11. I wonder if there's some batch variation of this because I didn't get any berries in my decant either. Seems like some people are sensing them and others aren't - and I wouldn't have minded because I like berry notes.

Minty & snowy with slight vanilla, kind of like one of the Lick Its but not as sweet. Off to a more appreciative home...

  12. Strawberry Moon didn't really thrill me either but I do really like Golletes & L'Essence de L'Engouement (French vanilla, pink candies, strawberry sugar, and orange blossom). I don't notice the orange blossom - it's all sweet strawberry on me.

For bubblegum, I would suggest looking for things that contain Lotus. Many people find it bubblegummy smelling. I really noticed bubblegum in Lotus Moon & Black Lotus (but also in Pandy, Bigger Critters & Ambergris Single Note - though no one else seems to think so in the reviews, so my nose may be weird :) )
