  1. Pirate Moon, yay!

In the bottle - Red musk dominates

Wet - Same musk but it's being sweetened by something (date?) and I swear there's a familiar floral note too.

Wearing - This is so beautifully crafted. I spent a long time with my nose glued to my wrist trying to decipher the various notes morphing - at times it's lime that springs up, or leather, or (on my second more liberal application) a definite grass note. As it wears I can just find a slight metallic edge which may be my nose and its interpretation of an aquatic. On the whole, this is very different but very lovely :P

  2. Another frimp from the lab in my Pirate Moon order :P and again something I never would have tried by myself.

In the imp - Sweet with an almost cocoa front note

Wet - Sweet and boozy! The alcohol note dominates, slightly softened by the sugar with the barest hint of mint if I huff my wrist. It fades to a pleasant enough skin scent but I can't see myself reaching for it on purpose.

I'm glad to have had the chance to try it but it's off to swaps so someone can *hic* love it more :D

  3. This was a frimp (thank you, labbies :D) and one I grabbed for an evening testing not knowing the notes.

In the imp- light, floral, slightly sweet

Wet - Still a light floral but as it warms a creamy note pokes out its head, I'm assuming from the coconut meat. There's also a citrusy tang hiding there underneath. Unfortunately I also get a plasticky note, darn skin chemistry :P

I'll try this again another time. On the whole this is a quiet, unassuming lemon floral, probably perfect for those times when you don't want to be known for wearing a perfume.

  4. This was a frimp from the lab :P and I wouldn't have ordered it as it contains my arch enemy, jasmine.

In the imp this is very light and ultra lemony. When applied the lemon/citrus kick is very strong but not tart, rather like those sherbet lemons I liked as a child. It takes a little while for the spice to pop through and warm this and the florals (I couldn't tell you what they are, very well blended) bring up the rear. This didn't turn foody on me at all.

This, for me, is more of a summertime scent, and as someone else said earlier in the reviews, it gives off a very melon/pale green vibe.

I'm amazed that the jasmine behaved, Beth surprises me yet again!

  5. Well, this is my second great surprise of this year's Weenies! and another frimp from the lovely evilmistressoftoast

The vinegar note put me off straight away but it is absolutely nowhere to be seen :P

The CC smells sweet and pretty in the imp, and when first applied there's a minute or so of a citrusy high note. This rapidly disappears to leave a soft wine, almost dusty floral note with a yummy musk very like the musk in Hunter Moon 07

This isn't like any cellar I've ever been in but if I had one I'd want it to smell like this!

  6. Pumpkin with tobacco, champa flower, carnation, and tonka

Apparently I amp pumpkin and not in a good way. sighs

This was far too buttery sweet and foody, kinda like popcorn. I think I caught the carnation and champa flower bravely trying to peek through but again (like PP 1) I had to wash this off.

    Edited to add lab description.

  7. I was curious to try the pumpkin patch as I really didn't know what pumpkin smelled like.

I now know it doesn't like me, or me it shudders

This is just very sweet and cloying on my skin. Very buttery rich and well, pumpkin.

I do catch a hint of fruit as it starts to dry but I had to wash this off fairly quickly as it was making me feel queasy :P

  8. Blackened, rotted oak wood blanketed in moss and choked by a cloak of grasping ivy.

Wow, this one was such a surprise!

I would never have ordered it myself as the description didn't appeal at all but the lovely evilmistressoftoast included it as a frimp in my Weenie decant circle order :P

Just to say that all the Weenies I've tried have either hated me with a passion or been very non descript and I didn't hold any hope for the poor old TOT when I applied it. Wrong.

This is just pure, dark, ancient forest without any hint of fir or cedar. It's sweet on me but with a slight touch of green bitterness to stop it being cloying. I wore this out in the garden today planting bulbs for spring and TOT smells exactly like the rich scent of damp soil as it is overturned.

Don't let the 'rotted' part put you off, this is really rather lovely :D

    Edited to add lab description

  9. I was a little hesitant about ordering this one due to the 'feral, animalistic notes', but oh boy, am I glad I did!

From the bottle I can just about detect the lunar oil base and what's this? A hint of Snake Oil?

Wet it's just beautiful. There's so many notes lovingly blended, a touch of mint and forest (I see great similarities between this and Golden Priapus actually) , it's sweet but not foody sweet, and the wine/musk notes don't take over.

On wearing the smokiness develops and wafts around the other notes. There's a touch of powder to this Moon but I don't mind that at all.

Wear this whilst hiking in the deep forest or star gazing at midnight in the autumn chill. A real winner! :P

  10. In the imp this was a sweet, light floral. When applied it soon became evident that this was a masculine blend on me, and atually too much I can wear other 'masculine' blends But this one isn't macho, just boyish but determined, just as Tristran should be I have me a crush :P

This is most definitely cologne territory with the woods amping combined with a sweet edge of the tonka bean. Fairly strong too, a little goes a long way even on my skin which can eat oil and demand more.

  11. A strong, willful blend with a soft, utterly lovely soul: white musk with a trickle of bright, sharp apricot and orange blossom.

I'm still searching for an orange/peach/apricot oil that likes me. Sadly the lab's notes on these all turn to 'air freshener' on my skin.

Katharina starts off with sweet fruit and flowers and wet I can smell the orange blossom with the white musk surfacing after the oil warms. It did seem to fade quite quickly and yes, air freshener pouts

Off to swaps so someone else can love her :P

Edit - to add lab description.

  12. This was a frimp from the lab :P

First sniff from the imp this is a sweet floral. On application the first note I get is rose with a classic softness behind. After about half an hour the peach surfaces and remains the strongest note and doesn't change until this fades.

The lab's peach can be cloying on me or go to air freshener glares at Fae but this one I'm keeping even though it fades fairly quickly.

  13. I purchased a 5ml of this after falling in love with the imp :P

In the imp I got mainly plum with a definite floral and spice. The bottle seems to differ in that the plum is not such a forward note, in fact the complexity of the blend is very evident. The abundant flora and fruit vy for attention, I can smell fig and a grounding of wood which I'm assuming is the date palm. The floral is heavy and intoxicating exactly like it would be if you strolled through these gardens in the dark sultry heat of the night.

This is a definite 'huffer' of wrist as you try to distinguish the notes. Beautifully crafted!

  14. I ordered this on a hunch that I'd like it even though the chocolate oils I've tried already didn't work for me Bliss had a high, almost urine note :P and Velvet somehow became chocolate nut

In the bottle - Rich chocolate with a fruit grounding

Wet - The fruitiness is rising now along with a juicy definite 'perfume' note.

Wearing - The fruit makes itself known bigtime as 'I am Peach!', in fact it dominates the chocolate. There's a swirling of vanilla and a hint of spice from either the ginger or clove too.

My son told me 'very nice, you smell like a candle'....I think that's a compliment from an 18 year old!

I could still smell this as a honey chocolate skin scent the morning after :D

  15. When I discovered that this one was to be discontinued I ordered a 10ml right away. Carnation is one of my favourite oils and I couldn't let this one slip away without trying.

Hod is a blend that's very difficult to pin down note wise. It didn't change for me from sniffing in the bottle, wet or dry.

A lovely creamy carnation doesn't quite do it justice but that's what it is!

It's Pink Moon 2007 without the sugar and I can't wait to try it layered with other BPAL too :P

  16. This starts off as an extremely light floral, so light in fact that I had to have my nose to my wrist to smell it. The first thing to kick in is a slight carnation spice, but it takes a good 20mins for the amber to warm to my skin. The next stage is lovely, pure warm amber floral but as it wears it develops a bit of a metallic edge.

If it stayed true to the middle stage I'd definitely get a 5ml but for now I'm content with my imp :P

  17. This one was a frimp from a sales post :P

In the imp - Sweet cherry liqueur

Wet - Same cherry with a woody base, maybe sandalwood? This smells very black and sticky if that makes sense.

Wearing - Cherry fades to leave a dark, musky floral. Black Phoenix is perfumy smoky as opposed to bonfire smoky.

This blend shifts and morphs as the different notes come into play. I don't think I'd use a 5ml but I'll certainly keep BPAL's namesake in my collection!

  18. This was a frimp from the lab and something I never would have picked for myself!

In the imp it was pure sugar sweet bubblegum.

Wet, much the same but with a medicinal edge. I can understand why some people say it smells like children's cough syrup.

As it dries and wears a more grown up note of muskiness combined with sweet cherry surfaces and by the time it starts to fade there is almost a woody feel to it with the cherry. It surprised me in many ways but I wouldn't wear it again so off to swaps for someone else to love it!

  19. Red Moon is my first Lunacy right from the lab so I held my breath and hoped..

First of all, 18 days from order to UK receipt, way to go, labbies :D

In the bottle this smells slightly musky and warm how a scent can smell warm, I don't know, apart from Beth is a genius!

This is such a well blended oil that it's hard to pick out any definite notes. I get a real summer's day feel from this along with a slight spice on application. The red musk plays nicely with everyone and doesn't amp at all.

As it dries the amber surfaces along with some floral (although I'm not sure what heliotrope or sunflower actually smell like) and a soft dusting of Dragon's Blood. This didn't change much on wear but rather softened into muted notes of the same.

It is quite, quite lovely :P

I'm so glad I took a chance on this one!

  20. I had high hopes for this as I generally love Dragon's Blood and the only questionable notes were mimosa (not sure what that smells like :D ) and cassia. Wouldn't you know that the note to amp in a big way was the cassia :P

Wet this was strong black tea (that's what cassia does to me) with some over ripe fruit. The musk made a play along with the occasional waft of Dragon's Blood but really this show was all about Madame Cassia which is a real shame as when she toned down it was lovely. Gave me red marks too when applied to tender skin (hollow of throat)

    Off to swaps!

  21. In the imp - Sweet cherry, almost like cough syrup.

Wet - As soon as it warms to my skin this is juicy cherry with almost an incensy edge. This quickly morphs into liquorice but its soft and melds well with the fruit.

Drydown - The liquorice takes over as it wears and I can only just detect the musk hiding in the background. This didn't seem to last long on my skin (wrists) at all but was more prominent when applied to my elbow crooks where the liquorice was much more intense.

I think this would be lovely layered so I'll search for some ideas and definitely keep my frimp, thank you, labbies! :P

  22. In the imp - Very strong and pungent.

Wet - Herbal, bitter and green. Not very pleasant at this stage. Has notes of other Voodoo blends I've tried though it's hard to pinpoint them.

Drydown - As it wears the notes soften and blend together, and hold on, what's this? Rose. A very definite rose. Definitely with thorns, a huge black rose just tempting anyone to try to pick it.

On the whole it's far better as it dries and although I wouldn't wear it as a scent I'll try it dabbed in secretive places to test its Voodoo qualities :P
