  1. When it first hits my skin, it's buttery crust, similar to Knave of Hearts.

After a minute or two, the buttery crust moves into the background and it's sweet berries. I think it's blackberries, but I can't pick out what other kind of fruit.

Unlike Knave of Hearts, this scent doesn't turn to dirt on my skin and keeps its fruit-y tart scent.

  2. Rose Red begins beautifully. It's rose, definitely, but honestly, this scent is more green on me than roses for the first half hour or so. Beth is a genius, because it really does smell like fresh cut stems.

After half an hour, this settles into a lovely, full rose scent that blends beautifully with the green of fresh cut stems.

Unfortunately, after an hour, this takes on a sharp note that smells almost metallic. Damn body chemistry.

  3. :P

I didn't think I was going to like this scent, but I was so very wrong. I smell ozone, mugwort, leather, and something that's probably steel. This is herbal, clean, and drop dead sexy. The dry down turns it into more of an herbal leather smell, but it's still amazing. This is definitely gender neutral.

  4. This is such a hard scent to review because I don't know a lot of the notes.

I definitely smell plum blossom, the salty ocean spray, and the green musk. Other than that, I don't know what the other notes smell like, but this is a sweet, aquatic floral that makes me think of days spent the ocean. It's a lovely scent for the spring and summer months.

  5. Wet: I get the vanilla and something that I assume is golden copaifera, since I know it isn't the others. It's a sweet, unusual scent.

Dry: I have vanilla, tobacco, black musk, and golden copaifera, in that order. I don't smell lavender at all, and it isn't particularly herbal on me. This is a sweet, musky, sensual scent. Really gorgeous, and it'd work on men or women.

  6. Wet: I get hyssop, pomegranate, iris and orchid. It's a sweet, well blended scent.

Dry: Hyssop, iris, and what I'm assuming is Angel's Trumpet since it's not iris or orchid. It also takes on a soft powder note during dry down.

I loved the wet stage of this - truly gorgeous. Unfortunately, the powder note on dry down means I won't be getting a bottle. Stupid body chemistry.

  7. This is gorgeous.

Wet: It's sweet vanilla and butter rum. It's not frosting sweet, but it's definitely on the foody side, and I spent several moments really wanting to lick my wrist.

Dry: This is when the sandalwood comes out and the scent goes from comforting to sexy. This smells decadent.

  8. This is a very heavy scent. I want to say that it's masculine, but it's more gender neutral leaning toward masculine.

The vetiver, balsam, and cinnamon are the strongest for me, though the vetiver is the most powerful note by far.

This is a dark scent, but one that I think would work better on a man.

  9. Clove.

Wet and dry, it's clove and black musk. If you like the smell of clove cigarettes (you know, the scent/taste that you lick off your lip when you smoke one) and want to smell like them, this is definitely the scent for you.

  10. I love Beth's roses, and I was so excited by the thought of this moon.

Unfortunately, my skin amps up the rose and it's all I can smell. On me, this scent is similar to London, but it turns powdery on the dry down, unlike London which holds its wet scent.

  11. In Bottle: Sweet and lightly floral.

Wet: This is gorgeous. It's sweet and aquatic. I can definitely pick out the iris, ylang-ylang, moonflower, and what I assume is wood aloe. It smells clean and sweet and despite the fact that ylang-ylang is usually eye-watering strong on me, it plays nicely here. Weirdly enough, despite the florals, it doesn't strike me as a strictly floral scent. It's definitely more of a clean scent.

Dry: It's aloe, tea, moonflower, and something kind of spicy. It dries close to the skin, but it's just gorgeous. Wow. I'm definitely picking up another bottle when it rises again.

  12. Wet: Chocolate, bourbon geranium, amber, and mimosa. The combination of the scents gives it a cologne smell. It's not masculine, but the smell that men's cologne has that women's perfume doesn't have? That's what it smells like.

Dry: It's chocolate, fig leaf, and star fruit. It's sweet, but it definitely isn't overly sweet. It's a comforting scent.

  13. I bought Black Moon on a whim, and I'm so glad I did.

The scent doesn't morph at all on my skin. It smells the same four hours later as it did the second I put it on. I can smell the orchid and musk, and something that's kind of resinous. I'm not sure exactly what gives it that deep, calming scent -- honestly, I don't know over half of the scents in this -- but it's very soothing, and I'm definitely going to use this as a bedtime oil.

  14. This is one of the very few scents that my skin doesn't just dislike, it actively hates. It's sweet on me, but there's something off, something that turns rancid on my skin, and the closest comparison I can make is vomit. It turns to vomit on my skin.

It does, however, smell lovely in the bottle.

  15. When someone said that they got a Pina Colada smell from it, I was so excited that I almost did a little dance.

Unfortunately, this smells like baby vomit on me. Extremely long wearing, fruity baby vomit that smells from across the room. :P

  16. Wet: I love this. It's overly ripe cherries and vanilla with... it almost smells like almond in there somewhere. Gorgeous and succulent. I don't even like foody scents and it's gorgeous.

Dry: Unfortunately, this scent only stays on my skin for a few hours before turning into cream with the slightest bit of cherry sweetness underneath, but I have to press my nose to my skin to get that. Drat!

  17. This is the hardest scent to describe.

On my skin it goes on a little sharp and a little soapy, but it settles after ten or fifteen minutes. Once it starts to dry, it smells like a gentleman's club from the 30s would smell like. It smells like a wool suit and it's not tobacco but there's a scent that's akin to tobacco in it. It has that same earth-y warmth to it. It's lovely, and don't get me wrong, it's not a strictly masculine scent, but there is something about it that makes me think of men and men's wool suits.

  18. This scent is beautiful.

Wet: It's a little bit of rose and a lot of daisy with the thyme giving it a unique feel. It's sweet and floral without being overly floral - an herbal floral.

Dry: Similar to how it smells wet, Taurus settles into the skin nicely without being powdery. This is going to be my favorite Spring scent. I'm so glad I grabbed a bottle.

  19. Wet: I smell cedar. I know there are other scents, but they are so subtle that it's hard to pick up on them. The cedar is the most obvious, strongest scent. It's the smell you get when you open up a cedar chest.

Dry: It stays very woody for the first two to three hours with an occasional hint of sweetness, but around three hours after it was applied, it changes. The caramel and brown sugar come to the forefront with the wood and herbal scent in the background. It's really lovely at this stage, and it'd make a good scent to be worn - rather than the room scent it would work for before this stage - but three hours is a while to wait.

  20. I was hoping that this would be vanilla mint without being foody, but it's not. Both wet and dry, there's a lovely mint and vanilla, but there's that pastry smell that I get in Knave of Hearts. It's not overly sweet, not really like a Thin Mint on me, but more like a mint and vanilla scone, if such things existed.

It smells OK, and the throw is pretty good, but I'm just not a fan of foody scents.

  21. This scent is beautiful.

Wet it smells strongly of resin and wood. It's like church in that there's the smell of candles and incense and the wood from the pews.

Once it dries, the smoke and incense is still there, but it seems more... herbal as well. It reminds me a little of a new age store and a little of church. Gorgeous.

  22. Osmanthus and Lily are the first things I smell when I put this on. Though they don't really share in the way of notes, Night's Pavilion reminds me of The Perfumed Garden. I think it's because they both have a more traditional perfume smell.

As it dries, the smell mellows a bit and I can pick out the white musk and frankincense. It doesn't smell bad, and I'm sure it'd be lovely on some people, but it doesn't work for me. It does, however, have great throw.
