  1. Vote three for Brides of Dracula! Its a nice floral skin musk. The florals aren't overwhelming and the musk is apparent throught the entire life of the perfume without being too heady. I like it as a spring scent. And I've noticed you can find it on ebay on a regular basis.

I used to wear "Skin musk" and Brides definitly has that scent.

  2. Fenris Wolf: Darkly complex and powerful(primarily deep woods, red musk and resin, through strangely, I often get whiffs of incense-like qualities when wearing, but that could be the result of nose-confusion regarding resins/woods. I love all things red and this is a wonderful embodiment of this color from the world of bpal! :D But perhaps I am biased because this is my favorite scent ;) ).

I'd also second sed non satiata for strength of throw/notes. That sucker is a long- laster if I ever saw one, and the one time I slathered accidentally... :D whoa that was strong(good, but strong) :) . It lasted through a full day, night, part of a day again, and a shower if I remember correctly.

Bloodlust is incredibly intense and sexy, another of my favorites. However it usually last about twelve hours when I do wear it, and has few incense qualities/resins/woods on me. Its primarily a very spicy blend with a dark bite to it. When I layer it with Sin, it lasts hours longer at a much higher strength than Bloodlust alone. Sin alone lasts about half the time on my skin chemistry than Bloodlust typically does. I find the blend has a different(but still spicy) feel to it than Bloodlust, a far less primary red and more earthily toned feel, if that makes sense, but also a much less complex blend (althrough that's not neccesarily a bad thing, I find Sin layers well with alot of other bpal scents).

Scherezade, unfortunately, disappeared within minutes on my skin chemistry :P.

Nom nom....Fenris Wolf! yup....lasts forever on me as well...though it goes through transformations...sandalwood to musk to musky amber to amber.

Not too sure on throw yet...Smut seems to have the most throw of any so far.

  3. -If you like Angel, try Xiuhlecuhtli.

-If you like Shalimar or Obsession, try Haunted (which is almost exactly like Shalimar).

-Gingerbread Poppet is very similar to Demeter’s Gingerbread.

-Yankee Candle’s Hazelnut coffee smells exactly the same as Gluttony.

-I can’t tell the difference between Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea and Embalming Fluid.

Shalimar is my mom's signature scent. I thought Fenris Wolf dried down to a feral smelling Shalimar.

Can I go the other way for a second? I'm one of those girls who hated her entire first order of imps, and I'm dying to love something!!!

    My favorite "outside" scents:

    Michael Kors (love that tuberose)

Eau D'oolong (Out of production -- WOE)

Stella McCartney (but so much alcohol! yuk)

Garden Botanika Sandalwood Oil (hording the last of this, its my favorite thing ever, but not really sandalwoody -- much creamier and less sharp than you'd expect sandalwood to be)

    Victoria's Secret Pear Glacee

The vase of Stargazer Lilies on my table three days after I should have thrown them out

Any help would be great. Thanks so much!

    Tzi

Oooo, another Garden Botanika hoarder! I've got a teensy bit of GB's Vanilla Musk left....I'm hoping to find a vanilla musk in BPAL that replaces it.

  4. Fenris 'Wolf eh? (*makes note for self*) Do you find it is lasting on your skin? I love amber, and The Lion is lovely and amber-drenched but fades really quickly on me--it would be nice to have one that was strong and continued forever. Or a while.

It lasts a while. I think because the sandalwood creates a really good base. You have to like musk also though, because the musk is definitly very present.

  5. I'm a NOOB (as in...haven't even gotten my first order yet, noob!) But I'm also a huge amber fan.....so this thread is of great interest to me.

My question is....is there a good scent that blends amber, musk, vanilla and dragons blood? (the dragons blood doesn't need to be there.....but it works well on me.) I adore musky/amber/vanilla smells! (maybe some sandalwood, though it sometimes gets a bit soapy).

Anything warm and not too floral!

I've found my musk/amber/sandalwood mix!!!! FENRIS WOLF!!!!! YUM!!!!

  6. OMG! This may be the ultimate one for me!!!!

In bottle-A woody spice. Most likely the sandalwood and rosewood combining. I was afraid it would be too spicy for me.

Wet on skin-Still very woody, but less spice. The musk and amber(two of my favorite scents) are starting to appear.

Drydown-Very warm....starts out heavy on the musk but the longer it drys the more amber is coming to the forefront.

Verdict--MUST HAVE BIG BOTTLE!!!!! (my mother has worn Shalimar for years and this smells like Shalimar's feral cousin! LOVE IT!!)

    :P

***This is one of my first reviews.....and Have to say.....still very true! Fenris was the first description that really caught my eye on the BPAL website....the first imp I knew I had to have.....and after two months (and over 100 imps--plus several Big Bottles of LEs--later) is STILL one of my top five if not numero UNO! Something about the way the amber and sandalwood combine makes this divine! :D

Oh....and I love this so much I've imped out alot of my first Big Bottle (because when I love something SOOOOO much I just HAVE to share it!) ....so a second bottle will soon be ordered...sigh.... :D Especially since I've started making a "perfume spray" of it with 1 part oil to 9 parts Everclear and spritzing my bed....sigh.....yes....this is a KEEPER scent!

  7. From my first imp order and second scent I've reviewed (first being Hell's Belle)

I'd wanted to like this as a long distance friend described it as "pure sex" on her, but.......

This is soap on me from start to finish. The drydown was a bit more warm, but still that soapy scent that doesn't work well on my skin. Sigh. Will be swapping this one. :P

  8. The first bpal scent I've ever applied....so....here goes.....

In bottle.....Woah! I smell dragon's blood but there isn't any in the description! Must be the citrus and spice combining.

Wet....Strong. A lush floral is coming out but the spices are still dominant.

1 hour...more creamy/musky less floral....still a hint of citrus as a top note, but it is blending well with the musk scent...I smell like a sexy dreamsicle! Oooooo!

Well....pretty sure this will have some serious staying power (hoping so as I'm going to a party tonight and want to WOW the guests)....but I'll have to come back later to give the final results.

So far....in lust with this! (But be warned! VERY potent when wet!)

    *edit.....

The party was very smokey and incesney so I'm not sure if anyone got to smell the goodness or not. But when I woke up this morning I could still smell some musky caramel scent on my wrists.
