  1. i get almost nothing but vanilla musk. it's nice but i was hoping for more complexity, since there is so much other good stuff in here- amber, sandalwood, patchouli, oudh... but i mostly get the vanilla, which weirdly starts to smell like cake or something as it dries. i wish i liked it more but it smells very generic on me. :(

  2. fancyyy. i love the champagne musk and want a SN of it. mixed with the vanilla/amber etc. and just a hint of rose, it smells like the nicest, fanciest perfume. i would wear this for new year's eve or for a special occasion. smooth and cool and beautiful!

  3. the manuscript is not at all what i expected and differs from other bpal "book" scents but in a realy really nice way. the paper dominates and then there is a dry leather note with a hint of peppery ink. and then just to make it weird, but in a good way, there is a "ghostly chill" that i swear smells kind of like cucumber. this is really nice and just a little bit spooky. i love it.

  4. a beautiful lavender note surrounded by way too many florals for my taste. it's like an elegant, floral bedtime perfume? it makes me want to go to sleep, but also sneeze. as it dries i get a LOT of moonflower but it's just too powdery and sneeze-inducing for me.

  5. there is a super sharp green note mixed with the fresh dirt note i love so much AND that delicious blood musk. it honestly smells ridiculously good on me. it is a little like penny dreadful, or graveyard dirt obviously, but more complex. it dries down to a very soft, clean, slightly sweet fresh soil scent that unfortunately has very little throw on me.

  6. this is a very complex, dark purple scent. the vetiver does not dominate, which is a pleasant surprise. it just sort of burns vaguely in the background. the dark fruit notes blend well with the patchouli, tonka and opoponax to create a delicious resinous sweetness. i get almost no rose, which is a relief. really nice!

  7. ooh i really like this. i love bpal's bay rum note. at first, i can actually see where the snow white comparisons are coming from, although i wouldn't have if i hadn't read other reviews first, and this stage doesn't last. as it dries, i agree more with the velvet bandito comparison. it becomes warm, spicy and sweet. really nice and i might need a big bottle.

  8. i LOVE dandelion but i am getting more wildflower than dandelion from this. i can usually wear wildflowers, as well, but here they are just crazy strong and very heady. the honey is beautiful and sweet and when i can smell the dandelion, i love it (it's one of my favorite bpal single notes) but the wildflowers overpower EVERYTHING and it becomes a sickly-sweet floral on my skin. i am really disappointed by this one. :cry2:

  9. i love this fresh green grass note. i dunno about the honey myrtle and i wonder if that is what's making things head into sort of a soapy direction on my skin. the green musk smooths things out nicely and i really adore the initial grassy scent but it ends up smelling just too sharp and soapy for me right now.

  10. love this stuff; it's like a breath of fresh air. i've been wanting a good green tea scent for a while and this is green tea LOADED with honey, maybe a little bit of a light floral background but just enough to evoke spring and sunshine without me feeling sneezey or headachey. this is a really beautiful scent!

  11. wow, this is really good! i forgot what the notes were when i first received my order and thought, "prosperous flowers... why would i order this?" then i smelled it and knew why! the vanilla/wood combination is very reminiscent of my beloved antikythera mechanism, but with the addition of patchouli, i do get kind of a banshee beat vibe! the saffron makes it really unique, though. i don't really get ANY leather at all. this stuff is beautiful and i bet it will age spectacularly.

  12. oooh i love this. if you (like me) boomslang, i think this may be a good choice. it has the same rich, deep, dark chocolate scent with swirls of musky goodness. the chocolate and amber are really nice together, too. this is one of those can't-stop-sniffing-my-wrist scents! it's not foodie at all- just rich, musky cocoa. i am so happy i bought a bottle of this (the only bonbon that appealed to me this year!).

  13. bakeneko is a warm furry cat and a cup of spiced black tea. i love the fuzzy amber musk with a touch of tangerine, and the lovely black tea leaf with spices. i'm not getting a whole lot of cherry blossom, but that's ok. on my skin, this is more subtle than i would have guessed, and sticks pretty close to my skin without much throw. such a cuddly, comforting scent!

  14. peony is one of the weird exceptions to my general anti-floral stance, so i had to give peony moon a try. it's a very light, fresh scent for a sunny spring morning. there's a little green in here, enough that it's more fresh than perfumey. i can see myself wearing this when i want to wear a big frilly floral-print dress and be super girly.

  15. the black musk with that crazy little kick of red chili make raven moon one of the more unique bpals i have tried. it really takes the scent from generic dark musk and resins (which i love, don't get me wrong... probably 75% of my favorites fall into that category) to something quite special. i really like the addition of chili, even though it's quite subtle. it's like a special secret ingredient that no one would guess was there. aside from that, this is a dark, rich, glossy scent that has aged wonderfully.

  16. i love the sweetgrass combined with peppermint here in dragon moon. there's a beautiful dry greenery with wonderful resins in the background. it is not as dark as i was expecting and is more grassy than anything else, with maybe an appropriate touch of smoke (the fire-blackened wood?).

  17. WOW. can't believe i haven't reviewed this yet! what a beautiful atutumnal scent. the fruit is very gentle and subtle under the gorgeous woods and spices, with one of the best smoke notes i have smelled yet enveloping it all in a delicious haze. it's like drinking a mulled wine or spice cider outside around a roaring bonfire on a beautiful fall day.

  18. hmmm. the rice note here is weird but i like it. it tempers the grapefruit note but also kind of takes the whole scent into a weirdly kind of savory foodie territory. i was expecting more sweetness, i guess. the grapefruit/ginger combo is actually a really good one, despite my usual aversion to citrus, but i am just not sure... i dunno, though. the more i smell it, the more i think i like it!

  19. ooh moon of small spirits is nice. i am not always a fan of the bpal snow note, but it's well-used and very subtle here and really evokes the sense of a frost-covered wilderness at night. it's not as grassy as i would like but i love the way all the different plant notes work together and it all just smells so good.

  20. Moonlight shining on the Quickening Tree, the heat and wax of sacred candles, the milk of ewes, Brigid's blackberry, the sting of keening wind, and the last flutter of the Cailleach's winter snow.

ohhh this should be so good. but that bpal milk note is all i smell, with maybe a touch of blackberry. where is my yummy candlewax? all i smell is sour milk and mint. i don't think i can wear this one at all. :(
