    Shipping Update

Still no luck with mine (placed 3/26). I am waiting on a reply to my last e-mail.

    Order Shipped Emails???

I've, again, received no shipping order on this last order. According to Beth, my order was shipped at the end of March, but I never got a notice on it, never received the package, and when she enters the shipping number she had into the USPS website, it comes up blank. She was going to reship last weekend, but I still have not received a USPS shipped notice, so I don't know whether it reached the PO or not. This is getting frustrating.

    Order Shipped Emails???

The dates that CCNow lists as shipping dates are not necessarily real shipping dates - that's just when the Lab "pulls" them for picking/packing/shipping. You should still get a USPS e-mail when they ship for real.

Since I seem to need to reiterate it...

I don't have a problem with the delay. However, would it be possible for you (or whoever maintains your website) to put a note to that effect on your front page? At present it still says "up to 14 days," which as we know is no longer the case, and if I weren't on this board to know better and saw that CCNow says my order shipped weeks ago, I'd probably be pretty panicky by now. Just a note to say that orders can take 4-6 weeks to process would be fine, and might help to lower unrealistic expectations.

    Shipping Update

Same here. I'm getting quite concerned myself, as my last order was placed mid-March and I haven't heard anything to indicate it has been shipped yet. And like an idiot, I accidentally erased my CCNow confirmation so I can't even see whether it's been "picked" yet. I don't want to bother Beth about it, but this is a much longer delay than I've ever encountered, and I'm nervous it may have gotten lost. I'm almost tempted to place another order, but...

Site update in progress. Good & bad news.

I think most of your regular posters have said repeatedly that we'd be happy to pay a bit more if it meant we got our stuff more reliably and it helped keep you in business. That definitely includes me.

    Rapture

I want to like rose/jasmine florals. I really do. But it seems that few and far between are the roses and jasmines that really appeal to me, and sadly, this isn't one of them. On first application, I got jasmine very strongly, but as the morning went on, the musk became more prominent, which I think greatly contributed to the potential sexiness of the scent, tying the florals together; but there's nothing that really makes this scent stand out to me. For a rose scent, I prefer Othello; and for a jasmine... well, jasmine's too sweet for me on the whole. Another "nice, but nothing special" for me.

    Seraphim

Seraphim is... nice. That's really all I can come up with; it's a perfectly pleasant, crisp white floral that doesn't leave much impression on me one way or the other. (It's the rare floral that does, and the rarer-still floral that I really like.) Like most other posters, I get mostly wisteria out of it; it doesn't have an incense feel at all to me.

    Help with Jasmine scents, please!

Ligeia is a VERY strong jasmine; I had trouble making out the other notes. Lasted all day, too (as the scents I don't care for seem to do); give it a try if jasmine is what you're after.

    Ligeia

This is a floral much too strong for my tastes; it appears on me to be almost straight-up jasmine with very little to cut it. I thought it smelled like daffodils; my hairdresser thought she smelled patchouli. I find this one overpowering, but if you're a big fan of florals and want a commanding one that will last all day, give this one a try.

    Morocco

Oh my gosh, is this one a keeper. Fiery warm yet voluptuously soft. I get sandalwood and carnation most strongly. Spicy and almost resiny, not too sweet; feels like wrapping yourself in a favorite dress straight out of the dryer on a cool morning. This is going in my next order without a doubt.

    Morella

This is an interesting scent. It's very green, as others have described, but oddly, I could have sworn I smelled lily of the valley. The sage came out more strongly as it matured into a refreshing green scent. It's an intriguing blend. Unfortunately, as strong as it seemed in the vial, it didn't even last me until noon.

    Psyche

This isn't my favorite rose scent, but it's very nice. The rose backed off a little as the scent mellowed, and I could definitely catch a bit of the frankincense "moderating" the florals. I could have sworn I was smelling lily of the valley as well, but perhaps that's the orchid - I think I need to train my nose up better so I can write more useful reviews!

    Dana O'Shee

Very almond in the vial, but once on it mellows immediately into a grain-cream "milk and honey" scent. Pleasant and (on me at least) very light, almost powdery. Lasts a couple of hours on me.

    Succubus

This one was overpoweringly heavy on me, smelled largely floral but at the same time smoky, like incense burning in a shut-up room. Bitter orange and sweet flowers. Not a success for me in the sense that it wasn't something I really wanted to smell like, plus it made my sweetie sneeze. It did last all day, though.

    Bliss

Oh my goodness - here's why you should try every sample you get. Bliss was included as a freebie in my last order, and since I generally don't like strong chocolate notes, I didn't like it in the vial - it felt like it was trying to jump straight up my nose into my brain. But then I tried it on and what a difference - it is truly pure melted milk chocolate. Plain and simple. Sadly, I'm not a chocolate fan (freak that I am), so I don't know if I'd want to go around smelling like this on a regular basis.

    The Queen of Hearts

This one didn't leave me with any strong impression either way. I'm not a big fan of lily, as I find the flowers themselves usually way too overpowering. Queen of Hearts did not distinguish itself on me; a pleasant, moderately light "white" floral scent, but nothing that said "Off with her head!"

    Input, please!

Virtue you embody: Honor Astrological Info: Astrology is on the very long list of things I don't believe in. However, I once had my chart drawn up just for kicks, and for those to whom these things matter, I have a sun in Virgo, a moon in Taurus and Pisces rising. How you found out about BPAL: You know, I don't even remember! Any comments you'd like to add about the Lab or life in general: I'll just add to what others have said about the "feel" and experience of dealing with the Lab and with Elizabeth. The scents are wonderful, but that alone wouldn't keep me coming back for so much more; Elizabeth's personality and personal attention, this great community of wonderful people, the positive vibe... shopping at BPAL is much more than a plain old shopping experience! I'm always impressed by Elizabeth's ability to make her scents evocative of exactly what they're meant to be.

    Sybaris

After trying so many BPAL scents, I've come to identify what I think of as the "generic BPAL flavor" - what I get every morning when I open the box where I keep all of my bottles and vials. (Must be what the Lab smells like...) Old Sybaris smells just like that to me - it's nice, and I like it, but there's nothing special about it that jumps out and makes me go WOW. The violet is very strong in the vial, but less so once it's been on me for a while; I don't know what tonka bean smells like, but I wonder if that's the vanilla-like scent that seems to be dominant on me. I like it well enough, but there are other spicy/exotic scents that seem more distinctive on me.

    Bordello

Wow, this is great! I don't usually like fruity/winey scents, but this one is neither too sweet nor too dry - I think the black currant makes all the difference. Juicy, robust, full-bodied, sexy! Just a hint of amaretto sneaking out after it's been on for a while. Othello changed my mind about roses, this might change my mind about fruit. Maybe.

    Scherezade

I'm still looking for a dance scent for my veil, and I'm not sure whether this is it or not. The saffron note turns out to be the most prominent on me, which is an unusual one for a perfume and one that I like very much; I think I'd like a little bit more of the spice, though.
  22. Koumori

    Othello

Working my way through the Illyria scents... I'm another one who's not a huge fan of rose scents, but the spice and musk in this one really makes it different. Intriguing, multilayered. It would take a pretty confident man to wear this, but it's much more gender-neutral and toned down than, say, Blood Rose. It dries down fairly subtle. I'm torn as to whether or not this will be a future purchase; it's still very rose, but I don't want to rule it out yet. I *wish* my sheets smelled like this. Edit: This has been upgraded to a definite "big bottle" for the future. My SO loves it.

    Cairo

Very fond of this one. Dries down to a soft, full, resiny scent. I don't get the strong citrus note that others seem to; it's mostly resin and wood on me, with maybe a hint of something floral (jasmine?) Not much staying power on me; definitely a subtler scent. A possible purchase.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

Depends on the kind of wedding you are planning to have. Hymn is the scent that leaps to my mind (mostly because I'm crazy about it right now!) but if you're having, say, an outdoor autumn wedding, that might not work so well. There's nothing wrong with good old Snake Oil, either! Order up a bunch of samples and see which ones make you feel magical. It's the only way to know for sure what you like and what works best on you.

    Hymn

Oh my, I do like this one! (Of course, I am wearing it on a slightly damp, slightly warm spring day. ) A lovely, peaceful, feminine scent. I get the lily of the valley and rose most strongly upon initial application, with a bit more of the spiciness underneath as it wears on. It goes on a bit stronger than I expected it would. I've never been much of one for florals, so I'm always looking for florals that really appeal to me one way or the other, and this definitely is a winner.
