In the bottle: I get (cherry) flavoured, sweetened cough medicine or something like Tixylix or Calpol for example. The cherry is there but there's also something medicinal and sharp. On, I smell marzipan all the way. My boyfirend smells vanilla, which I only get in the background, and my mother says it smells like medicine (she has yet to be converted to BPAL but I'm working on it). After a little while, however, my boyfriend says it smells a little acrid. As far as I can tell, the scent doesn't change whole lot on me except for becoming slightly sweeter as it fades. All in all, I like this and will finished the 5ml (bought unsniffed), but I doubt that I'll buy another once it's finished. Added - 12th January - I've come back to Voodoo today and I'm glad I did. Now I've decided I really like it - today it smells warm and comforting and almondy.

Interesting.... in the vial I smell oranges with a hint of rose - at first I thought of Turkish Delight, but it isn't quite. For the first couple of hours I found it too heavy and sweet and the rose takes over. After a day it's almost gone but it smells like roses. I love patchouli and sandalwood scents but I didn't get any patchouli or sandalwood at all from this. My opinions on this are mixed. On the one hand the description sounded like something I'd love but it was too heavy and strong for the first few hours. Once that strength had faded it was wonderful. I think I'll need to come back to this before I can make a balanced judgement.

I was really looking forward to Sin. In the bottle it smells lovely - really sandalwoody with a hint of patchouli and slice. Perfect. Initially on I was disappointed as it seemed to lack 'depth' for want of a better word. However once dry it developed into a wonderfully incensey scent. In fact when my boyfriend came home last night he asked me if i was burning incense. It also lasted quite well on my skin, which makes a change. I like this a lot and the chances of me buying a 5ml of it are pretty high.

I was a bit worried when I put this on because it was so strong. I liked the wet-rose smell but I wasn't sure if I wanted to smell that strongly of it. After a while it mellowed down a lot to a lovely soft rose scent, and hasn't gone powdery on me at all - it reminds me of the Body Shop's Tea Rose perfume that they used to do. I don't get much cinnamon from this at all, but I don't mind as it smells wonderful after the initial power has gone. This perfume also surprised me. I like the smell of roses but generally I tend to go for earthy patchouli and wood smells. Harlot made a nice change from that.

In the bottle - Mmmm, wonderfully earthy and woodsy. I love scents like this. There's aomething I can't quite place but that might be the muskiness. I also detect a hint of furniture polish! On - The musk seems to most apparent, but still very dark, earthy and woodsy. I get more of the juniper and musk from this than I do the pine. After a few hours - this has turned too sweet for me. It smells like baby powder or marshmallows. I'm not sure about this. Overall - I loved the way it starts out when it's wet and for the first couple of hours (dark and earthy) but after that it turns too sweet.

I'm really not sure about this one. In the vial and initially on it smelled quite green and medicinal. Once it had dried, my boyfriend asked me what I was wearing as it smelled quite pungent and he didn't really like it. By this point I found it rather green but sour aand chemical. After a few hours it's barely detectable but smells like the remnants of more generic 'perfume' type smells - Poison springs to mind. I might give it another go, but at the moment this is likely to be heading for the swaps pile.

In the bottle: Really woodsy and earthy, sandalwood, frankincense and patchouli. Smells exactly like what you'd expect from the description. Mmmmm. On: Patchouli and spicy pencil shavings! It sounds awful, but it's wonderful. After a few hours: like most scents it's barely detectable on me anymore but the sandalwood and patchouli are still there but the pencil shavings have almost disappeared. Overall: I love this. As others have said, it smells like old (splintery) wood on an old boat, or church pew. Definitely one for the 5ml list.

I got a free imp of Old Kyoto with the last Lush forum group order I joined in with. I think it smells a bit like Sakura. Unfortunately I loathe Sakura with a vengeance (sorry Ctrlfreak) but any Sakura fans out there might like it. Luckily for me, unlike with Sakura, (Old) Kyoto faded quite quickly on my skin.

I got this as a freebie. It's something I wouldn't have ordered myself. Unfortunately, I really do not like this at all. It smelt sharp but sweet in the vial and on it's just too sickly and foodie for me. The apricot and vanilla overpower the jasmine whch is only detectable by sniffing quite hard, and the ginger isn't there at all. Maybe I have odd skin chemistry. One for the swaps pile. I may change my mind in a few hours once it starts to change, but first impressions really aren't good.

Hmm..... In the bottle it smells piney, woodsy and lemony. Really clean and fresh. On - initial impressions - rather masculine and overpowering. My boyfriend thought it smelled too harsh on me. After a few hours - still a little overpowering, and to me this has a pleasant generic aftershave scent. I can't really pick out any individual notes. Overall - a little too masculine and overpowering for me to use as a perfume. I might use up the rest of the imp as a room scent.

I got an Imp of Old Kyoto as a freebie - it's something I would never have considered getting for myself as I don't like the smell of cherry blossoms. In the vial - almonds, but like an overly sweet, heavy amaretto. On my skin - this dried down to a cherry blossom and bubblegum scent. I really didn't like this at all. It reminded me of the Lush Sakura bath ballistic, which I can't stand. For me, Old Kyoto had the same washing-powdery smell as Sakura. Luckily it faded quickly on my skin. This one's probably getting put on the swaps pile I'm afraid.

This scent has convinced me that there's somehing far wrong with my nose. On sniffing the imp, my first thought was 'ugh! Parmesan!' (much as i like eating parmesan I don't want to smell like it). However I tentatively gave it a go, hoping that I wouldn't go around smelling like strong cheese all day. Luckily, it quickly mellowed down to a smell reminiscent of rose and lemon Turkish Delight. This lasted for an hour or two before becoming slightly more spicy and incensey, though the Turkish Delight is still prominant. Overall, quite a strong, sweet, long-lasting scent but also warm and comforting.

In the bottle this was very herbal and minty. Unfortunately, on my skin it became soapy (though with a slight hint of anise) within a few minutes and faded fast. I'm really disappointed as I adored this in the bottle.

In the bottle this seemed almost grassy and slightly patchouli-ish to me. On applying, the lemon verbena jumped out first, and like minouska, I also got eucalyptus. This quickly mellowed to a sort of woodsy, earthy, grassy (probably the cedarwood(?)) smell. After a few hours, it's faded a lot but the sandalwood is the dominant scent with a hint of patchouli. I love it, but it's too bad it doesn't last very long on my skin (but it still might make it to my 5ml list). To me this is a very relaxing, warm summer scent, like a warm breeze.

Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender. This was fantastic while it lasted. On my skin it smelt like mint and carnation almost - there was almost a spicy-floralness to it that didn't smell like lavender. It certainly was a bright, sparkly scent. I love it but sadly it faded to nothing within two or three hours.

My first review (beware, I'm not good at evocative language and descriptions). I the bottle and just after I put it on the eucalyptus jumped out. Overall the scent reminded me of Vicks VapoRub, Olbas Oil or something else you'd use when you've got a cold. Sadly the scent didn't last on my skin. Within a few minutes it had faded, leaving the barest hint of scent, leaving a faint smell of something synthetic - reminiscent of scented binbags I used to buy (sorry, I can't think of a nicer comparison).

Another plea for a non-Paypal method of payment for us international users. My boyfriend doesn't trust Paypay after having a bad experience with them so I'm very reluctant to sign up for a Paypal account. I would much prefer a way of paying BPAL directly. I'm in the UK.
