  1. in the vial: earthy, green. fig

wet on the skin: earthy green fig

drydown: This is a bit of an odd fish. I wonder if there is a hint of cassia in it, because the oil feels a little warm, and it reminds me a bit of Pais de la Canela.

I won't get a bottle of this, but it is intriguing.

    3/5

  2. In the vial: Lemon and green tea

On the skin: Mostly Sprite with extra lemon

Drydown: The jasmine shows up to wrestle down the lemon verbena.

This is okay, but it'd be a lot better on me without the jasmine. Like all blends. ;P Lemon verbena tends to amp a lot on me too, but it's no match for the jasmine.

    2.5/5

  3. In the vial: grapefruit and citrus

Wet on the skin: grapefruit, not as sharp as Aizen-Myoo, the white tea comes forward a bit and the Apple Blossom sweetens the deal

Drydown: Sweet grapefruit, a hint of white tea.

Like most citrus scents it doesn't last too long, and I'm left with white tea and a smidge of ginger. I think I prefer both Aizen-Myoo, which is a stronger, sharper grapefruit, and Schroedinger's Cat which was a sweet, minty grape fruit on me.

    3/5

  4. in the imp: fruity floral with a bit of a bite.

wet: a bit tangy and sweet, pomegranate and...apple? O.o I know there isn't supposed to be any in it, but that's how my nose is interpreting it.

dry: fruity floral. I get a bit of rose, but it's actually behaving instead of going sour or turning into a sharp soap on me. For some reason I'm still getting whiffs of phantom apple. O.o

Tangy and sweet, fades sort of quickly, but rather pretty! I don't think I need a bottle, but I'm hanging onto my frimp. :)

  5. in the vial: wine and cider

wet on the skin: wine and amber, with a bit of spicy carnation

drydown: slightly sour wine and a bit of floral. Not sure what posies smell like, exactly.

This is verging on giving me a headache, like most wine scents. It's a pass for me, I think

  6. What? I never got around to review this?

In the bottle: Mostly buttery cream.

On the skin: Creamy vanilla with saffron. The butteriness burns off within the first 5 minutes, like Lovers With Rutting Cats

Drydown: Creamy, glorious vanilla that's being kept from going into sweetness overload by the saffron.

Vanilla, saffron and cream, just like it says on the tin. It is absolutely fabulous on me, and might be my favourite BPAL scent overall. This is the only BPAL I've hunted down a backup bottle of.

It's in the same family as Lovers With Rutting Cats (but with saffron instead of ginger), but I think I like LP even more.

  7. In the vial: Tea rose and vanilla musk

Wet on the skin: tea rose and lily on a bed of vanilla musk. This is really rather pretty in its simplicity.

Drydown: tea rose and a hint of vanilla musk. Simple and pretty. Good throw, long lasting on my skin.

Tea rose is the only BPAL rose that seems to work on me, and I've been hoarding a couple of imps of London for years, but I think I like Victoria better. I don't know if I need a bottle yet, but I'm definitely keeping my decant.

If you like London you'll definitely like this!

    3.5-4

  8. In the imp: Honeysuckle and mosses

Wet on the skin: A blast of honeysuckle and oakmoss

Drydown: The honeysuckle chills a little, and oakmoss, moss and benzoin come forward.

I find similarities with Voyeurs Among the Cherry Blossoms (for some reason), and somethin reminds me a little of The Unicorn. If The Unicorn had travelled to a swamp. ;)

I quite like oakmoss, and I'm hanging onto my imp, although I'm not sure I'll get a bottle. We'll see how often I reach for it. :)

  9. in the bottle: O-style honey and a whiff of snake oil

on the skin: O-style honey and something almost minty and astringent, which is the medicinal tang of fresh Snake Oil

drydown: honey and Snake Oil, as advertized. :)

O can go sickly sweet and powdery on me, but for me the culprit is the liberal amount of amber in it, and that part is missing from Womb Furie, so WF is brilliant on me. As others have noted this is beautiful when fresh, which is an issue with SO, and I'm seriously contemplating getting a second bottle of it before it disappears.

  10. in the imp: Vanilla and tea rose

wet on the skin: Vanilla and florals.

drydown: Sharp, sour soap. :( Damned you rose! Tea rose usually works on me (even though no other rose ever does), but this turned into sharp soap. *sighs*

  11. In the vial: sneezy rose

Wet on the skin: a yellow floral

drydown: sneezy florals ontop of musk. I get zero mandarin, zero honeycomb, zero amber and zero cream, unfortunately. :( It doesn't go to sharp soap on me, which rose normally does, and it doesn't give me a headache like some florals do, but it's definitely all perfume-y floral, no creamy honey or juicy mandarin.

  12. In the vial: very, very faint aloe and vanilla

on the skin: Still very, very faint light musk and vanilla

drydown: I get the barest hint of vanilla flower and something that almost smells like linen, but I take it it's the aloe in combination with the papyrus. This really just vanished on my skin. :cry2:

  13. In the vial: Neroli and peach.

Wet on the skin: I actually thought there was a bit of rose in there somewhere, because the neroli is so sharp. It's battling the peach for domination, while the honey is slinking around in the background.

Drydown: The neroli backs off after a couple of hours, and it's mostly peach and honey, with a bit of cocoa and patchouli (the patchouli actually behaves!).

I avoided this for the longest time because of the peach, but then Cupid Complaining to Venus worked so beautifully on me that I decided to give Eisheth a go. I prefer Cupid Complaining to Venus, and that also lasts longer on my skin, so I don't think I'll get a bottle of this, but I'm keeping my decant. I think I'll also retest at a later date, because I seem to be getting a bit of a headcold.

    This is a 3.5 maybe a 4/5.

  14. in the bottle: wine, poppy and musk

on the skin: wine, vetiver and clove with a tiny cherry on top

drydown: VETIVER. Err. This is actually a little burning on my skin, and I never really react to any oils. Eeek. Ever so slowly there is something a little sweet peering out, but I don't get much in the way of vanilla or honey out of this.

ETA: after an hour or so the vetiver finally backs off (or else my nose has started filtering out the note ;)) and I get an astringent type of cherry with a bit of vanilla/honey/musk. Now *this* is actually wearable. :)

    ETA2: And here's the almond. ;)

For wine and honey scents I think I'd stick with Athens or Kali.

  15.

    in the vial: fruity herbal

on the skin: mostly herbal, with a bit of fruit (I'm getting more fig than apricot, which is surprising) and a bit of honey

drydown: Jasmine over herbal with a wee bit of fruit. Not sure where the almond and honey is in this blend. On the upside, it didn't go marzipan on me, but on the downside jasmine simply steamrollers everything. The jasmine is tempered a bit by the sweetness of the fruit and the herbs, but I don't think I need to hunt down a bottle of this.

  16. in the vial: mostly acai berry and neroli

wet on the skin: whooahh! Berry! Sweet berry, to be a bit more precise. I think it's the acai mixing with the amber and neroli to make it this sweet seeming. I do amp most berry notes, so I'm not sure it does this on most people's skin. I can't say I get any SO or vanilla at all at this point. They're buried under a mountain of berries.

dry down: Finally getting a wee bit of vanilla among the berries, and after an hour or so the spices in the Snake Oil is making an appearance.

I have no idea how old this decant is, but it's a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I definitely thought I'd get more in the way of Snake Oil from this, but it's predominantely a sweet berry scent on me.I've already got a fair amount of berry scents, so I'm not sure if I'll get a bottle of this, but I'm keeping my decant.

  17. in the vial: beeswax

on the skin: warm beeswax with a touch of honey

drydown: still warm beeswax with a touch of honey. It stays quite close to the skin but it's absolutely lovely and I might get a bottle of this once I've used up my imp.

I've been on the fence over beeswax-y scents before, because they don't always give me more than, well, wax, but I get a bit of honey from this too, and it's a little sweeter than beeswax normally is, and it's a lovely comforting scent that stays close to the skin.

  18. In the imp: Almost a little glue-like. O.o

Wet on the skin: Sharp and woodsy. I get a bit of the iris too. There's some kind of round sweetness in there too, which I thought was floral before reading the notes, but I suppose it might be the berries. No idea what kind of berries though.

Drydown: Spices and a bit of amber. This is one of those 3/5 scents that I sort of like, but not enough to warrant a bottle. The woodsy-ness made me want to go sniff my imps of Yggdrasil and Odin again.

  19. I never got around to reviewing this? O.o

In the bottle: Boozy egg nog.

On the skin: Egg nog with coffee. This is fading fast though, and after 15 minutes I get the tiniest bit of a very sweet cappuccino

Drydown: Sweet, creamy with a hint of spice and coffee, but very faint. I think I have to slather this. I'm still on the fence on whether I'm going to keep my bottle or not. If I could smell this properly I'd save it, but since it's so faint I might not.

  20. In the bottle: Blueberries galore!

Wet on the skin: Blueberry currant tea, with the tea note taking over. I think I can spot a little bit of the coriander too, but none of the red musk, which is odd for me.

Drydown: Honeyed blueberry tea with a hint of ginger. After several hours this goes into some sort of brown sugar scent on me. I think it's the honey/ginger/tea combo. It's lovely and I'm so glad I hunted down a bottle. :)

  21. In the bottle: Cloves and a wee bit of vanilla

Wet on the skin: Mostly Clove and cinnamon

Drydown: The clove hovers on top of it all, but it gets blended with the cinnamon, and starts out a dry spiciness, except for when I huff my wrists, if I do I get some creamy vanilla underneath it all. I don't smell much of the pine sap, but I think it might be well and truly melded with the vanilla.

This reminds me a bit of Shub-Niggurath, and the drydown is defintely a cousin to Villainess Ginger Snapped. Spicy, with smokey vanilla underneath. :)

  22. In the bottle: White tea and chrome

Wet on the skin: This is a bit more aquatic than I'd like it to be, and the chrome a lot fainter. I bought my bottle off a forumite, so I'm not sure how old it is though.

Drydown: Still more aquatic and even less chrome. :/ I can smell the ambergris and the white tea, but I was hoping for something a bit more like Szepazssony (sp), so I swapped my bottle away.
