A double-dose of seedy that oozes rough-and-tumble sexuality while promoting vice-driven profitability! Volcanic red musk, vanilla bean, Queen Elizabeth root, red ginger, skin musk, black leather, honeycomb, honeysuckle, magnolia, and patchouli. I just have a sniffie of this, and it is rather old, so I don't know if it smells as it should... But on me this is EXTREMELY masculine. It smells like a spicy men's cologne. Nice enough for what it is, but not for me!

This one changes quite a bit on my skin. It's much more floral and sharp when wet, but now it's been on a couple of hours it's a creamy sort of scent, the vanilla and amber blending into a soft - smoky isn't the right term, perhaps "smudge"? - smudge with a gentle ripe peach and a breath of florals that remind me of the powderiness of Enraged Bunny Musk or Antique Lace. Very pretty!

I think Spellbound is fab! Wet, and for the first hour or so of drydown, it has a very green rose smell, which mixes interestingly with the musk to give a roses-meets-Smut scent. After a while, the rose becomes softer and sweeter, mingling with the muskiness to create a pretty scent that has an old fashioned sense to it, but an edge of naughtiness.

Shub-Niggurath Soap (by Silk Road Trading Company)
rachel2205 replied to copyshopclerk's topic in Suds
Shub soap is beautifully packaged and the soap itself is pretty and has a soft texture. However, the scent is pretty faint, which is a bit disappointing I've heard this is true of Silk Road soaps in general. If you like strongly scented soaps this may not be for you. -

Weeping cherry, watery bamboo pulp, nettle tree bark, green tea incense, soft musk, rice wine, and Japanese tree lilac. Just got a lil sniffie of this. Would never have thought to try it, but it's lovely! In the imp and fresh on it's very green and wet. But it settles down into a soft, almost pulpy scent, with a musk like warm skin and sweet flowers. Still an exotic, wet green element there, but not sharp at all. -
Smells COMPLETELY different in the imp to on me. In the imp it's all sweet florals. On me, though - There’s a salty, electric note to this – ozoney and a bit watery, or like salty skin, somehow. There’s also a sweetness, and a very faint breath of something floral. This is an intriguing scent.

Exactly what it says on the tin – sugared rose. Very pretty, and a very slight tint of green on the rose stops it being sickly.

This went on quite harsh and almost masculine. Now it’s softened up. The topnote seems to be something almost spicy cola – caraway? – but there’s a sweet softness under it with the vanilla and ginger. I feel like if I sniff it one way the spices are too medicinal and prickly, yet sniff it another way and it's smooth and dark yet alluring. Hm. What do I make of this?!
-
This surprised me a bit. Goes on very sweet – sweet orange and a lightly creamy note – but settles into something greener with a cream aspect. Slightly soapy.

The perfume of a hellbound soul, gleefully lost to iniquity: blood musk, golden honey, thick black wine, champagne grapes, tobacco flower, plum blossom, tonka bean, oakmoss, carnation, benzoin, opoponax, and sugar cane. In vial, grassy and very sweet. Dry on skin, it's syrupy but with a juicy element - almost fruity. It seems like there might be a touch of anise in there.
-
in vial - wow, potent! Cocoa, but very masculine. Almost piney note. Peppery. On skin - wet, it's a strongly male, feral scent, but with a sweet undertone. Dries into a masculine lavender and spicy cologne. Once it's been on for a while, a soft breath of the vanilla comes out, but this to me is still quite an aggressive scent. Fascinating. I think Mme M and Wulfric would make an intriguing couple!!

In imp: HELLO PATCHOULI. It does instantly soften on the skin, but that patchouli note is strong. I'm thinking the vanilla bean is taking the edge off a bit. Very spicy. Often that spiciness would be quite 'masculine' to me, but this is definitely a feminine scent - albeit a tough one! I can just about smell a bit of plum. I wish the patchouli won't slap me around so hard here so I could smell everything else! -
Sweet, effervescent, like elderflower cordial. Very pretty and good for a summer evening!

This is ONE CRAZY SMELL. I have never had something morph so much. In the vial it's incredibly sweet, and wet on I smell bright amber and something FRUITY. Almost BANANA. Which seems very unlikely! Then it dries down into something with quite a heavy musky incense with a touch of floral. Finally, when it's been on a while, some of the heaviness goes and it becomes a sweeter scent! Woah. I think I'll have to try this on again at another point, as I just don't know what to think of it. *sniffs arm again* Hm, some creaminess is coming out... Madness.

As lots of other people have said, it's a manly Dorian. This is really a beautiful scent, though I think it is too masculine for me to wear. However, i think I should try it on my man...

This is basically a sweet, musty mint on me. The mint has a vaguely spearmint edge to it, which is a shame - I'd love it if I got the Moroccan tea vibe from it. Ah well!

This is a crazy scent! That fits for the Mad Tea Party, though. My nose doesn't know what to make of it, but I'm pretty sure I like it! On wet, I ADORED it, because the first things to hit my nose were fruity jammy buttery notes. Now the rose has come out it's a bit more confusing. To me this smells a lot like Drink Me with rose overlaid. Imagine, if you will, a tea table laid with hot buttered toast that's been given a good dollop of jam (mixed fruit, I think; this doesn't smell particularly blackcurrant to me). On the table there is also a vase containing a large, plump rose, so when you sit down at the table you get a whiff of rose as you munch on your toast.
-
This is quite a nice scent, but nothing special - mostly I get a slight hint of fake lemon. Not exactly Pledge... I know, it's more like those hot towels you get in Asian restaurants after your meal. That's the lemon scent. I can smell a bit of tea, and it has a slightly effervescent, sparkling quality, but I think if I want a clean, fresh scent I'll go with F5 or Aizen-Myoo.

Vanilla, saffron, and cream. Very disappointed! This scent seems to be a love or hate one for reviewers, and I definitely don't love it. It's a cloying, weirdly chalky-cream scent. No good on me at all.

I seem to have a very different experience to everyone else! I got a generous sniffie of this today, and on me this is much more grassy than floral - but a dry grass rather than a wet grass, if you see what I mean. The honey note is quite subdued and golden, and doesn't have the slight 'dirtiness' that the honey in O does on me. Really quite pretty and fresh, though I don't think I'd spring for a bottle.
-
Resurrected: this is the first bottle I've ever ordered unsniffed, and based on all the reviews I was confident I'd like it. I can hardly smell ANYTHING This makes me so sad. I have to shove my nose right on to my hand and all I get is a vaguely sweet smell. Boooooo.

This has surprised me a lot. It's so pretty! Now, I love Snake Oil, but I wouldn't use the word 'pretty'. 'Sweet' maybe, 'sexy' definitely, but not 'pretty'. But this is like fresh flowers in springtime. A delicate scent. Interesting because yesterday I tried Boomslang and it's so much heavier and richer. The Snake Pit is so varied

Phew, glad it's not just me - was beginning to think I was very strange. It's so LIGHT on me - I just get a gentle, softly spicy vanilla. pretty, but I think I'd need to BATHE in it for people to smell me!
-
This surprised me by being very light on me - delicate florals with a very faint touch of violet, plus a slightly herbal note which I think is the incense (not really the kind of incense I expected!). Quite pretty, though I don't reckon this one's a keeper.

I swapped for an imp of this today, and it's lovely! I am a gourmand so I figured it would work. Someone's earlier comparison to Eat Me is quite apt, although this is definitely lighter on the cake than Eat Me. I smell buttercream and jam - I don't get a particular strawberry or cherry vibe from it, just a generic kind of 'berry', but a pretty one - with a soft touch of sponge cake. If I sniff hard, there's something faintly spicy beneath all that. Very nice!
