  1. Little worried about all those flowers, but this is really a treat! I am getting the neroli and freesa and a little bit of the tarter orange floral that must be the mandarin, but it's kept quite nicely in check by the salty, slightly herby musks.

This is definitely one of the more feminine perfumes I've tried and it's a keeper, though probably not for everyday use.

  2. The perfume of eternity in vast, unknowable space. A glittering oil, ephemeral, iridescent, and horrifying in its immeasurable emptiness. This is the scent of air and darkness.

There has to be juniper in this. It's the only thing that can account for the woody, spicy, slightly lemony edge I'm picking up. There is also this realy aquatic note that could be seaweed based, but really bottoms out the bouncy, odd sweetness that's in the upper notes.

As it dries, I'm getting more of the violet that others noticed, but there is this weird bitter, sharp bottom note that should clash but just doesn't. Of all the things I've tried, it resembles Valmont the most in it's masculine florals, but it's just unlike everything I've ever tried.

So glad I hunted down a very full bottle!

  3. I don't see The Marquis de Carabas mentioned yet (Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere): "A splash of bay rum, leather, dusty black wool, massoia bark, and opium residue." You would have to like the wool note though, it is rather strong (on me anyway).

I love Lindworm, but of course that is rather hard to find. And Leather Phoenix has lots of leather but is hard to find, although I still see bottles of it offered in the forum sales thread.

I did in fact acquire a bottle of Lindworm, but it's currently very bitter on me and I am aging it in the hopes that this issue clears up. Leather Phoenix is also very much on my wishlist.

Lindworm does mellow some, but it's one the more intense end of leather.

It just had a weird chemically throw to it.

  4. Brom Bones is magical. I could roll in it.

Haute Macabre was horrible on me. The leather note was so good but I couldn't get over the cherry cough syrup my brain registers almond as.

Whip is actually my most favorite scent after Loviatar. I have 6 bottles and a ton of imps stashed away. But you'd have to like rose. It's no sissy rose like most rose notes. It punches you in the face. It's the only rose I want in my bpals.

Rose is either amazing or terrible on me. And Brom Bones, as of first testing, was sadly too strong for my migraine prone self. gave me a headache, despite smelling amazing.

  5. This perfume is dirt. There is no better way to explain this. It's like getting your hands into rich, damp loam and breathing it in. There's a little spice from the wood chips, and a little something that I can only describe as wet. But God, I cannot believe how spot on this was, and will be returning to Etsy to buy at LEAST one bottle.

  6. Haute Macabre was terrible on me. That doesn't bode well...

I had high hopes for Haute Macabre - I liked so many of the notes! - but it also was a pretty major fail on me, as well. Also, the leather scent to end all leather scents - DeSade? Smelled awful on me. I aged it for years and it never got better for me, I had to swap it away. You may have to keep poking :)

Haute Macabre was just a bitter mess on me, and it was an older bottle too...

Looking forward to trying out the imp of Brom Bones I swapped for, which is the same leather as Loviatar.

  7. No love for Le Pere Fouettard? Also check out Doc Constantine, Havana, Violens, Wanda, and The Traveller. If you somehow find either Le Pere or Traveller, please let me buy a decant.

Haute Macabre is really close to Western Diamondback, the closest I've found.

Lots of love for Le Pere... sadly it was almost impossible to find not too long after it came down even. I ordered it right before it came down and then fell madly in love and await its return every Yule now :P I was so hopeful the solider would be similar... and it's lovely in its own right... but no where near the same ballpark of love.

Also love for Jareth. Even my friend who has hated everything I have put on him over the years fell madly in love with it. It's totally a leathered dorian.

Wanda is love, though I've always found it stronger on the wine than the leather. It's a black rubbery leather, rather than the tan like in western diamondback.

Also Goblin Sack smelled so good I need to fork over the monies soon. It was leather and sweetness like le pere... but hazelnut instead of licorice.

Did you say LEATHERED DORIAN!?!?!?!?!?!? :joy:

  8. All three of the Riders really appeal to me, Red, black and white in that order. Nanny Ashtoreth is GLORIOUS, and I'm so glad I found a decant of it so I could see how the flowers behaved on me (which was perfectly).

Cyborg sounds like it could totally be my scent, seeing as Beth makes the most amazing metal notes.

Fighter, Rouge and Orc are all on my wishlist, though fighter especially.

I have to ask about the Western Diamondback. How strong is the snake oil in that? Even aged SO makes me gag and get migraines so that being the base is worrying for me.

I love leather scents, but could never find one that ended up smelling a bit too masculine for my tastes, but Western Diamondback is AHHMAZING!! BUT it is VERY hard to find right now...fingers crossed that it will come back with the Carnival, but in my opinion, I also LOVE Snake Oil...fresh or aged, and I actually don't get any SO from WD. It is a soft, suede like scent that is just strong enough to have a good throw but not overpowering and end up smelling like a dude!! :)

As a genderqueer person, smelling like dude is not an issue for me... XD

I have a lot of scents in the Carnival that I would love to see back, so if it makes a reappearance, I'll get a decant of it.

Ok.....then dude it up!!! ;) But def try WD if it comes back...I think you will love it!!! I know I will be getting me some if it does!!

I'll be hunting down a decant of it for sure!

I am not a fan of the lab's leather scents , but I would be interested in trying "Hatta". It is currently available from the "Century Guild.net" website until it is sold out. Only 250 bottles were made. The notes are Copaiba balsam, battered brown leather, and Ceylon cinnamon.

I'm getting a decant and am VERY excited for it.

  10. Crowley has been something I was eyeing, though I was a bit worried about the vanilla. I'll probably hunt down some and stick it in my aging box.

Spanked sounds right up my alley so I will try to hunt some down! I like spicy scents!

  12. Snake oil for me is pretty indifferent. I smell the leather more than anything the snake oil kind of gives a wetness to it. But you can for sure pick up the sweet vanilla part of snake oil.

I'll try an imp of it, if I can find a decant, but the vanilla in that sounds like it may be bad news for my sweet and floral hating nose.

  14. So, the amazing Loviatar era leathers are all rare and costly, I wanted advice on leather notes that are GC, or at least easy to find.

Red Rider is already on my wishlist, and I wanted any other suggestions. I like my leathers rich and dirty, if that's any help.

  15. A pumpkin scent that doesn't go buttery!

There is a really green and warm scent that really does smell like crisp green vines and dirt with a little hint of decomposing (but not gross) pumpkin. It didn't change much as it dried, maybe getting a little sweeter.

  16. This scent has to have cedar in it, because it's amping stunningly on my skin. I've always loved what my chemistry does to cedar, and this is not an exception. I was a little worried about the rose note, but it is a surprisingly perfect complement to the peppery woody note.

Very green, very lush, and surprisingly feminine.

  17. Wowza, this scent is strong!

Bottle: Sharp, kind of medicinal. Expect that's the booze note.

Wet: Cotton candy. Very fruity, very sweet, with this kick of something. Maybe the booze, maybe the musks. Both of these notes seem to be second to the fruity sweetness.

Dry: There are the musks. The boozy note is almost totally gone now, leaving a sugar encrusted musk. The throw on this is tremendous (I just tapped the unwanded cap to my wrist a few times) and it would be too much if I applied any more, but is really sexy and feminine right now.

Overall: I am very surprised by how much I liked this. While it's by no means an everyday sort of scent for me, I could totally see myself slathering myself in it, sliding on a slinky dress and going to the club.

  18. Got a lot of lemon and bergamot at first, and the lavender is a very strong second. The leather and patchouli must be the amazing deep notes that make this such an amazing scent. I love it, despite being of the feminine persuasion, and it smelled amazing on my fella.

Time to hunt down a bottle.
