    Siberian Musk

It's very clear to my nose that this is a vegetable based musk because there is an intense spicy green to this. That being said the oomph of this is just incredibly sexy. It smells almost exactly like a head shop I loved and is just remarkably rich and sexy. There is something a bit sweet in this (other reviewers have been saying cola and it does smell a bit like the cola syrup we put into our soda machines at the movie theater I worked at) but it doesn't lose that musky grr that I love. First thing that's happening with this is a vetiver musk sandwich.

    Silver-Haired Bat

An odd note: This felt very thick and oily on my skin. Wet: Ah, my beloved atlas cedar. You are always such a flawless note on my skin and this is no exception. The benzoin and oudh are giving this a deep incense base. Drying: There's the pepper, making this scent tingling and warm. It's also getting sweeter, and a little foody. Dry: This is a really odd combo of woods and butterscotch and somehow it totally works! I love it!

    Thirteen (13): April 2007

In imp: Very separated, but this is not the first time I've seen that with cocoa absolute. A little rolling broke the particles up well. Wet: Herby spiced chocolate. I am getting the cardamom for sure, and the sandalwood. This is a very mild, not in your face scent. Drying: smelling something like rice milk under the herbs now. The chocolate is a secondary player now, which is nice because I'm not huge on super foody blends. There is something grassy and sharp now too. Dry: Herbs and more herbs, backed up by some spices and just a bit of dark chocolate. Don't see myself wearing it much, but I'm happy to have the imp.

    Old Man Ackerman's Instructional Toys

Wet: Sharp metallic lemon. Usually these types of scents have high pitched headache inducing floral, but this is a bubbly, sharp lemon. Someone said lemon disinfectant wipes and while that's the right feel it isn't quite so medicinal. Drying: There is a bright white musk coming into play now that I really love. This is everything I was hoping for out of scents like embalming fluid without the headache. Dry: I have found my new summer scent! I know the BPAL esty has some of this, so it's time to get a bottle!

    Perversion

Wet: Rum for sure. i was worried about the booze notes, because they often go rancid on me, but this is buttery and almost butterscotch in it's scent. Very foody. Drying: Finally starting to get the leather and tobacco, making this a much less foody and much more me type of scent. It is still keeping that strong caramel/coffee top note that is almost identical to the one I get in Misk U. Dry: Still very foody. The leather's almost gone now, leaving this very smoky note. This is like Hellfire and Misk U had a baby. Perhaps the foody feeling is tonka, which many people say smells like vanilla. It is sexy for sure, but I'd probably go for Hellfire or Black Rider before this because my preference for leather/sexy/smoky scents runs typically towards the more masculine. The imp will hang around though.

    Y'ha-nthlei

Wet: Very much a citrusy aquatic. There's a little something else lurking in this scent though that is very interesting. Drying: Salty and very crisp. This is almost soapy, as many aquatics are. Dry: I am finally getting the eucalyptus which adds a really nice dimension to this. It is very eerie, fitting a Lovecraft scent and I think it will make a nice summer perfume.

    Thorns

Wet: Oh hi, vetiver. Be glad I like you because that is all this perfume is right now. Salty vetiver. Drying: Dragon's blood is curdling this a little. The sweetness it's lending is offputting. It's not bad yet, but if this sweetens up too much more it might get there. Dry: Not my favorite. Dragon's blood has turned out to be a bit of an iffy note for me, and while the vetiver and the dragon's bloos start playing nicer with each other as it dries, I don't see myself wearing this much.

    The Heinous Hedge-Maze

Wet: I love me some woods and this is not disappointing. Of all the BPAL's I've tried, this is probably the closest to the actual experience of green plants. It smells like freshly cut hedges. Drying: This is not morphing at all, save for getting a bit closer to the skin. There's not much throw on this, but it's super yummy. Dry: Maybe it's a little sweeter, but it is a very consistent blend on me, which hasn't been my typical experience. Can't wait to try it layered with Graveyard Dirt.

    Corrupt Chancellor

Wet: This smell is so evocative of someone for some reason and it's really strange. This is very much a bergamot and pepper scent on me, with the vetiver giving it a smokey background kick that's very nice. Drying: This smells exactly like my family friend Lucy's house! She burns a lot of various incense so it's probably the sandalwood and bright fruity feeling. The leather is much stronger now, so it's very peppery and warm. Dry: Lots of bergamot. This is much sweeter than I thought it would be, but the vetiver, leather and pepper are a stunning chorus of yum in the background that makes this scent complex and deep in a really amazing way. I think I may be getting the slightest hint of coffee now, but if so, it's very faint and not at all obtrusive.

    Delousing Powder

Wet: At first this was way too sharp and strange, but it's warming into something totally unique. There is something lemony and something almost like cocoa butter. Drying: Something remarkably foody and warm about this. The more it dries the more unusal it gets! I am really digging this! Dry: I can't even begin to guess what's in it, but I'm digging it!

    Baobhan Sith

Wet: The most scrumptious citrus white tea. This smells almost exactly like a grapefruit infused white tea right now. No sign of the ginger or apple, though they may be that nice complicated depth hanging around in this perfume. Drying: It's gone all soapy... I think this is the first time this has ever happened to me properly. Soapy and prickly. Dry: Yup, this is all pledge grapefruit air spray now. Drat. The wet stage was so lovely.

    Herodotus' Phoenix

Wet: This Myrrh is almost honeyed. There is a spiciness to it that reminds me of nothing else but my friends ginger ale starters that was ginger root, honey, water and sugar. It's also starting to burn a little. Odd, seeing as I've never had issues with any of these notes before. This itches too much... To the bathroom. Glad it's not a scent I was thrilled about anyway. it's just a bit too sweet.

    Dwarf

Wet: Cold floral. The hops must be strong on me. The original in your face jasmine dies down pretty quickly though fortunately. Cold and sharp for sure. Drying: This is drying really nicely! It's a sharp and impressive metallic floral. usually florals don't agree with me but something going on here's got me huffing my wrist. Dry: The throw on this seems even stronger dry, which is unusual for me and I'm glad for it! It is remarkable! Excited to get to layer it up with the others in the RPG line.

    Ranger

Wet: Dissapointingly faint. I get a lemony cedar like wood, not the deep terabinth pine I was hoping for. It is blossoming and I am starting to get some of the other notes, but the start is underwhelming. Drying: Where is the lemon coming from? Perhaps my nose was dulled from testing my Vetiver SN right before, but it is almost candy like in sweetness, though I do get the woods here and there. Dry: This doesn't smell bad, but where was the rich wood I was hoping for? And I amp woods to the end of time too! I know this is a layering scent by design, and I'll keep it around, but man this was not what I hoped for!

    Haitian Vetiver

Wet: This must be that deep, rich smoke note I love so much. It is an amazing vetiver! There is so much complexity, and while I typically consider Vetiver to be a pretty masculine scent, this is complex enough that it isn't IN YOUR FACE DUDE, at least not for me. Be warned, there is throw for days. It's not going to convert you if vetiver's not your thing. Drying: Sweeter and more of a woody spiciness. Like a stronger version of the smell of my dad's home made charcoal. Dry: for a single note, this is lush and complicated. Vetiver is a fav note and I was not let down.

    Night's Bridge

Wet: Odd. That's the only way I can describe this. There is something old and very creepy about it. Drying: It's sweet and slimy and is just really creeping me out. It's somewhat aquatic and very sharp, though I'm not sure what is giving it that sharp feeling. Maybe stone? It's just not my thing. Shame, because the bottle's pretty. Might keep it around to see if my chemistry agrees with it better later. Dry: Anise. That's what this smells like. This is far more agreeable on me dry, and seeing as I love both the wet and dry, this bottle makes the cut for now.

    Herr Drosselmeyer

05 version: In bottle: Sweet leather Wet: Mostly pipe tobacco now, which must have been that herby sweetness that was so yummy in the bottle. The leather blooms quickly, making this leather and pipe smoke. There's a hint of candiedness about this that reminds me a bit of cherry tobacco, but it's not at all artificial. Drying: This is the most unusual and wonderful smokey leather. Where Loviatar was sexy smokey, this is incredibly comforting. There must be a little bit of wood in this, because it has a similar feel to my beloved cedar, though it doesn't smell too much like it, unless I'm confusing it with the spice in the leather. Dry: it's much sweeter now, a vanilla note coming to play with the tobacco. Perhaps this is finally the linen showing up. At any rate, it's amazing. For all of it's gentleness, this is a very masculine scent. I love it, but I think I might even like it more on the boy.

    A Howl In The Darkness

In bottle: Sharp almost stinging pine. I already want to bathe in this. Wet: Woods and something chill and bright. It's a bit citrus, a bit minty, VERY ozoney and the most amazingly shuddery wood scent. It is completely nailing the theme and is blooming beautifully on my skin. Drying: The citrusy ozone is actually making me shiver in the best way as it comes to the fore. The wood is really grounding it keeping the ozone from going to my head. Dry: This is a very bright floral ozone on me. It has a slight muskiness and a depth from the quiet woods that keeps it from going to my head. The more it dries, the less screaming the ozone and floral are on me, but it always remains a sweet heady scent. I get wiffs from the pine and juniper, and it just makes it a delightfully shuddery and cold scent that is totally not what I expected but I really like it.

    The Host of the Air

Wet: This is very similar to the scent I got from my aged Wild Dandelion SN, sharp, sweet and green. In fact, it's pretty much a dupe for that right now. Drying: THERE are some of the other notes. I am getting the heather and a bit of the sharpness of the juniper cutting through the sweetness of the floral greenness. Dry: At first I was worried that this would suffer the same fate as the WD SN and go too sweet and cloying, but the greenness I like so much is rooted in a woody spiciness that makes this scent more complicated and ultimately better on my skin. This is what I hoped the SN would have been.

    Lampades

In bottle: I am praying that floral dies down on my skin... YIKES Wet: Oooh, yummy musky cranberry! I have been looking for a fruity blend that doesn't go achingly sweet on me and this might be it! Drying: Much more of the musk and ginger now, still with the fruity richness of the cranberry. No far, no overt appearance from the lilly, thank god, though it might be adding the wonderful dimension to the sweetness. Dry: Ginger, musk and cranberry. in fact, it's reminding be a bit of my favorite soda, GUS cranberry lime. It has some of that mouthwatering sharp juiciness to it that is just amazing. Up close it is ginger dominant, which is awesome, but is it quite literally making my mouth water without being foody. This is why I love that the lab sends frimps. I never would have put this on my body by choice, but seeing as I test all my frimps for just such a scent as this one, I'm glad i did. This imp it TOTALLY a keeper and may even get bumped to bottle.

    Chimera

Wet: Super foody and warm. Like a cinnamon bun! The cinnamon goes pretty quickly into red hots territory on me, unfortunately. Drying: It still has that foody feel, probably the vanilla, but it VERY much the red hots or fire balls sort of cinnamon when I get up close to it. The throw is much softer, more like a vanilla based cinnamon incense, but it's still very candy like. Dry: Candy, candy and more candy. It's dry, sharp and any close whiffs go right to my nose. Shame, because this was almost yummy...

    Incantation

Wet: Lemony, very green vetiver! Despite not really being the actual smell, this is a broken sapling sort of green. Drying: That initial blast of green has calmed down, and it has an aspect that smells like moldering leaves, not unlike a leaf pile after the rain. Dry: The little bit I applied quickly became snuggly and close to the skin after the initial lemony blast of throw. It is similar to the scent of Irish Spring soap in it's clesn sharp greenness, but it is a sappier, more natural version. Vetiver, which is usually sharp and low on my skin, is barely playing a factor at all, but I suspect that might change with age. This is overall an amazing, yummy and truly green scent and I may get a bottle of this! i absolutely love it!

    Tavern of Hell

Wet: I was right to be worried about all those florals... It smells exactly like airport hand soap... Drying/Dry: it grows a lot more tolerable, with the orange blossom giving it a rounding citrus, but this is so not my thing. Off to swaps.

    Dragon's Tears

Wet: I'm not a huge fan of Dragon's Blood, seeing as it tends to go very floral, but Beth's has one of the best DB accords out there. Wet, this is all Dragon's Blood with a very sharp, slightly rose-like salty note to it. Drying/Dry: The only real indication of the salt is the way it tickles in my nose. it's very headshoppy. While I don't think the scent is awful, I can't see myself wearing it because it's so floral. I'll age the imp to see if the salt comes out a bit more before swapping it though.

    Ekhidna

Wet: There is an almost medicinal wet herb scent to this. Heavy on the swamp aquatics. It mellows almost right away on my skin though, rendering it a lovely green swampy scent. Drying: This is a lot spicier now and drier to, but still has that sea spray ozone and rotting (but not in a bad way) green scent about it. Every time I smell it something is different. Sometimes I swear it smells like chai. Dry: Now I'm getting the exact same smell as from the potpourri my family used to have that was oranges, cinnamon and clove. The aquatic note that I enjoyed so much is completely gone. This is a HUGE morpher on me. While I like all the stages, it doesn't stay in the cool aquatic long enough for my taste. happy to have the imp, won't likely hunt down a bottle.
