  1. If there are already plans for a modified/condensed Halloween version, a Yule/Winter one could be more work and not less at this point, but I guess that's up to the organizers. I'm sure there would be plenty of participants either way, so yeah, whatever's best for the ringleaders!

Fair point! I didn't consider that element.

  2.

I know that there e been some folks circling the forum and waiting for the announcement of Switch Witch. Switch Witch Weenie round will be delayed starting this year and will run shorter. THe Ringleaders have had some personal issues and injuries and so we will be changing things up a wee bit. Fear not....we will Switch Witch!

While SW is basically life, if so mich stuff is going on for you guys, maybe a yule/winter SW? I hate to think of the leaders having an extra burden when stuff is tough.

I second this motion. It should be fun for everyone, including the organizers!

  3. Freshly applied, I get toasty cardamom with a little sweet fig and a nice waft of the carmelly, non-sweet whisky. I really like this. It’s not fig heavy, which I can sometimes find to be cloying, and it has none of the medicinal notes that cardamom can sometimes have. It’s very subtly gourmand. Will update again after a few hours of wear!

  4. ETA: I'm gonna hold off on the local goods swap until around mid-late June for signups since I feel like around now with finals and the end of school and whatnot it would limit how many people could take part. Stay tuuuuuuuuuuned!

  5. Farmers markets around me open in May. I would like to run a local-goods swap kind of like the Summer Vacation swap last year! Maybe sign ups will be around the end of May. Any interest?

Em, I am totally on board for a pamper your senses swap!!

  6. Trading with other BPALers is another low cost way to spoil the witchee. Theres a special database for that as well. Sometimes mutual nacho (Not Your) witches end up sending to each other's witchees too when a good trade is agreed upon.

This is so true! I usually offer a couple of crocheted items and trade them for other hand made or local items. So like, I'll make a shawl or scarf or hand warmers or something for your Witchee, and you can make some soap/jewelry/art for my Witchee, and then no one has spent any $!

I also usually offer a "envelope of Asian candy and things" for really cheap since I have some awesome stuff local to me that I Nacho. That way a Witchee can get something they will really like but their Witch doesn't have to spend a bunch of time and $ trying to track it down. I know others do this for their local stuff!

ETA: I'm glad you can participate too greenwoodtree. You're a great Witch.

  7. On me, this is black must and sugar, period. I get no coffee. It's not a creamy or foody sugar - just sweet. I do like it, but I'm hoping after the bottle settles for a few weeks, the coffee will become more prominent.

Overall, it has a medium throw and is pretty strong, but not in an off-putting way.

  8. Is anyone planning a virtual vacation swap? I really enjoyed that one last year! If no-one is going to do it, I might organise one myself! That would be my first time so I'll have to look at all the rules and such. I'm currently on vacation right now so that will take a week or so.

I'd be willing to host or co-host this one, or even just be part of it. It's one of my favorites, too.

  9. In the bottle, this is all goat's milk.

Drying, it starts to sweeten up. The honey carnation and sugar start to really take the forefront. Still no coconut after warming, though.

After it dries down and rests a little, I get more sweetness - this time, probably rice milk - and a little coconut.

It's less coconut than Ivory Vulva on me, and significantly less buttery and "dark". If Ivory Vulva is a coconut custard pie - all golden crust, toasted coconut flakes, and custard - this is more like some warm, sweetened goat's milk with coconut steeped in it. The goat's milk base is very reminiscent of Giljagaur.

  10. I was supposed to be representing Death for our June Gloom Victorian Mourning event, but the Little Grim Reaper kept stealing my scythe.

Lilith says this perfume should smell like pretty meat bones, and her translation of that is a musky vanilla sandalwood.

In the bottle: MUSK. Sandalwood, maybe.
Warm on skin: There's the vanilla! It's still white, musky sandalwood, but the vanilla is stronger.
After a while: Cool, dry sandalwood with light musk and white, not-sweet, not-warm vanilla. This is probably the least sweet vanilla I've ever smelled from the lab.

  11. Lilith expressing herself at the V&A: cardamom-dusted cupcakes.

In the bottle: It's the lab's yellow cake note. That's aaaaaaaaaaaalllllllll I can smell.
Warm on skin: Yellow cake and the tiniest bit of cardamom.
After a while: Foody, buttery yellow cake and dry, sweet-ish cardamom.

  12. Peach caramel with blackened vanilla, patchouli, and teakwood.

In the bottle: It's pretty patchouli/teakwood-forward. Spicy and woody. A little sweet.

On skin: The peach is not a top note here, really. It very much smells like caramel with peach juice added as opposed to caramelized or roasted peaches. The blackened vanilla darkens the peachy caramel so it doesn't read as buttery or foody at all, and lends a lovely dark, sweet warmth. Patch and teakwood make this woody and spicy (but not as strong as the wood or patch in some other blends).

Overall, this is a beautifully balanced blend. It's warm and sweet, not foody, not particularly "fresh peachy" - but the peach is still a solid foundation for the scent. The vanilla makes it a darker scent, the patch is very subtle (just lending a little earthiness and spiciness), and the teakwood is woody and dry in the background, but not too strong.

It reminds me a lot of a blend between Aradia and Imp.

  13. It is very coconutty when wet and in the bottle - very similar to Ivory Vulva - but dries down into a warm, sweet, creamy scent with a little cinnamon. It's delicious. I want to live in a house that smells like this all the time.

  14. What about a "day at the beach" type swap? Like instead of book, sock, soap it could be book, snack, sun! So like a light, "beach" read (whatever that is for the swappee), a summery snack or beverage or sweet, and then something for in the sun like a SPF lip balm or body lotion or scent or summery candle/home fragrance?

  15. Yes, I realize this is *waaaaay* out of season, but will there be any interest in a 13 Days of Halloween exchange again this year? It's cleaning day, and I'm finding quite a few things from various sources (like HorrorBlock) that I could hang onto for an exchange, but if it's not going to happen, I need to go ahead and rehome them. (Switch Witch kind of freaks me out due to how elaborately people get into it, so advent-style exchanges work better for me intimidation-wise.)

    Always!!
