  1. I'm terrible at identifying notes.

I was, however, immediately transported to the entrance of the cemetery where my father was laid to rest, the impossible cold of the day we couldn't bury him because it was too cold in the Pennsylvania mountains to dig the hole where would eventually lay, and the green of the summer 10 years later when I stood in the same entrance, staring at the vault where he'd rested until they'd been able to give him the permanent plot that became his without knowing quite what I saw, waiting to find out where he actually lay, and standing in the shade not far from there where he rests now, forever.

If this scent is meant to take us to the cemetery, many years ago, the fact that I was, in that moment, as the first whiff hit my senses, transported to my own central cemetery, so many years ago, I would say that Beth & Puddin have succeeded.

I will add that although this could be acutely painful, there is a sweetness behind the smell that manages to make it wistful, as if holding me not in the grief of loss, but in the joy of memories, of a life lived well, bringing back not the pain of my father's loss, but the joy of being loved by so amazing a human being.

  2. This was a Frimp from a swap. I was looking for frimps for a swap, reading descriptions, reading this thread, and decided to open this. Oh thank the sweet baby Jesus I did. Or maybe not because I LOVE THIS.

The descriptions of Baby Powder? Yes, I get that. I LOVE that. I adore it. It might be what makes me want to lay down and have sex with this smell (not all of the oil, mind you, just this smell).

There's more depth, though, and it's not just baby powder. This just became a new HG. As in, why is there a waiting list, and here's how much I love my swap partner - I decanted half the imp for her to try and saved the rest for me. Anyone who has any left they don't want? I'll happily rescue it. Dear JibbersCrabst, yes.

  3. I have a possibly awesome, potentially terrible, possibly off-topic idea (if I am off-topic, please just trout me to the right place, someone?)

Yes, we have Christmas about to swat us all in our merry faces. Yes, New Years comes right after that. But the winter slump follows that for many people, and it occurs to me that many of us like to get mail that isn't bills or spam or unsolicited dickpics (dear gods, please tell me those aren't actually being sent via snail mail these days!)

Would a card/letter exchange be a legit thing? As in, ceiling of $5, including postage (with the possible exception of internationals, who might need more wiggle room for postage), hand-crafted nifties are nice, but think card-sized, with people getting stuff through Jan and maybe into Feb?

Yes, I read all the circle swap stuff, I didn't see this in there, so it might be that I'm in the wrong place, but this feels like it could be right? As I said - trout me off to the right spot if needed. I'll write it up tomorrow if I'm not nuts. (Well, I'm probably nuts, that's beyond this to determine. But if this is a thing, then I'll write it up tomorrow).

  4. Eclipse is a lab frimp, and I just opened and decided to try it out.

In the bottle: Cherries. So cherry that I thought perhaps I should wear red today.

Wet: Cherries. Bright, red, ripe, delicious, juice, sweet cherries. I felt cheerful and smiling just smelling it.

Then, wait... is... is that vanilla? How did vanilla get into my cherries? Why would something called "Eclipse" smell like cherries or vanilla? Perhaps I should look what goes into this...

As it dries, the almond is replacing the cherry, the vanilla fades somewhat, and I suppose I'm picking up more of the others, but I'm lousy at picking them out. I'm not really picking up enough cinnamon to call it, though.

It is VERY foody, which for me is a nice thing. However, it's also a little strong; maybe I shouldn't have been quite so liberal. I'm getting a migraine. :(

I can't part with it yet, though. Watch for an edit later.

  5. I ordered an imp of this on someone's recommendations... I forget whose... But I currently LOVE them. Whomever you are that recommended this to me, I LOVE YOU!!!

OK, that shameless whatever that was aside...

This is so sharp and crisp and clean and utterly delicious. I have a hard time knowing what I'm smelling, but of the imps I ordered and the frimps they sent me, this is a new favorite, definitely out of the bunch, if not a new top 5! And I've got no problem with staying, nor am I getting grapefruit off of this.

  6. This is my first review, so lets see if it's any good.

It took me awhile to get around to my frimp of Phobos, but I was looking for something different to wear today, so I put it on just before I rushed out of the house this evening. It was VERY Lemony... but with something else. I asked DH to smell it, he immediately said "wrist" (haha) but upon pestering, he said "Baby Powder".

It took me a few minutes to put "Lemon" to what I was smelling, but once it clicked, I knew that's what it was. It reminded me of Lemon Madeleines, and I just really liked it. As I came home about 90 minutes later, I said, "This smells like Lemon Verbena"... again, good, because I ADORE Lemon Verbena... it's my fave home scent from B&BW, and it's in the "Couvent de Minimes" Hand cream I'm using. But then I sniffed my wrist closer... pure powder. So "around me" it smells of the Lemon Verbana, but when I get down to sniff where it is on my skin, it's a very soft Baby Powder scent.

I LOVE THIS. I ADORE the smell of baby powder; it has always struck me as being very feminine, soft, gentle, without being overwhelming, so to have one perfume hit so many of the notes I love as well as this does is awesome. I'll be buy a (few?) 5ml of this one to add to my meager collection.

And like some of the other reviewers... I was surprised to see the connection to fear here. Me and fear don't get along well... but me and Phobos are hitting it off like feinds!

    ADDED Jan. 23:

In the imp: Citrus. Yum... :P

On Skin: Upon immediate contact, I get lemon fumes. It's sharp and nose clearing. I thought I smelled grapefruit but it's more lime than grapefruit... which I think may be the lemon verbena.

On Drydown: The lemon smell tones down a bit. I get a bit of a ginger smell to it. It's very sharp. It's a very 'clean' sort of smell, crystalline and a tad bitter.

Verdict: I'll see what it smells on the boy. On me, it's a bit of a lime-ginger smell, too sharp for me to be comfortable with. I was hoping for more grapefruit... but I guess I should stick to Mania and Baobhan Sith for that.

funny that you said lime and ginger, because I thought I might have smelled those, too, but dismissed both when I hit on the lemon verbena... perhaps my dismissal was premature! :D
