I used to wear Poison a lot. It was pretty much my signature scent for a long time before I got more into oil blends and whatnot. I'm sure it has a ton to do with skin chemistry, so I make no guarantees, but seriously... I tried an imp of Black Dahlia a while back and it smelled so much like Poison to me. You might give that one a try and see how it works for you.

If you're looking for a more innocent rose, I'd definitely recommend Lucy's Kiss` to you. It's one of my all-time favorites. You can certainly smell the rose in it, but there is a delicious "clean" note in there as well... like freshly laundered linens... that makes it seem girlish and innocent to me. Persephone and Magdelene were two other rose blends that stood out to me as being very nice and feminine, yet a little different than just your average rose blend. You might check them out as well.

The grey and ghostly flower that fills the fields of Hades. Wow... I can't believe I've never reviewed this scent before, as it's become one of my favorites since ordering an imp of it a couple of orders ago, especially as it's one of those ones that has a cool personal story attached to it. A couple of years ago, my boyfriend and I had fallen upon some particularly hard times and were basically homeless, for all intents and purposes. We wound up squatting in a portion of a house that was basically under construction due to the charity of an aquaintance who was allowing us to crash there while we got back on our feet. Had it not been for that person, we would have been living in our car or on the streets. We had electricity and internet access (thank you wireless), but no running water, stove, or many other basic necessities. (Thanks to the electricity and a lot of Wet Wipes, you never would have known it from looking at us though.) Despite everything that it lacked, the place did have this wonderful backyard that was completely overgrown with wildflowers and tall grass. There was one flower in particular that I just adored, both because of it's purple color and it's delicious scent. I had no idea what it was, although I have since figured it out, so I named it "asphodel" at the time, after the mythical flower of the Elysian Fields that also inspired this scent. (This was way before my BPAL days, so I didn't even know of this blend.) I cut it by the handful and stuck them in soda cans filled with water all over the house because I adored the smell so much. This is a picture my boyfriend took of me standing outside in it where it grew in the spring. Anyways, we're long out of that situation, but I'd been longing for a scent that smelled similar to the way those flowers did as they brought me so much joy at a time when there wasn't much to be joyful about, as you can see from the picture. When I saw this in the Rappaccini's Garden section, I couldn't resist trying it, and much to my great delight, it smells so exactly like what I was looking for, and don't even get me started on how tickled I am that Beth thought such a scent embodied the concept of asphodel as well. As a blend, I smell many things in it... violets for one, and freesia as well (which my "asphodel" always reminded me of scent-wise). It's definitely a floral floral, but it's light and wistful as opposed to heavy-handed. There is some green note languishing in the background that I can't quite put my finger on as well, but it's lovely. Asphodel is one of my favorite "thoughtful" scents, but it's also very pretty and feminine, so it's quickly become something of an "everyday" one for me as well. This one gets an A+ from me, both for what it is in itself and for what it is to me personally. Thank you so much for making this Beth! This is a very special scent for me, as it reminds me that no matter how awful things might seem at any given time, there is always something beautiful to bring brightness to your days if you're of a mind to allow it to, and that's a lesson I never want to forget.

This was another frimp from the lab with the last batch of bottles I ordered. It was definitely one of those ones I probably never would have chosen on purpose, as it seems like it has many of my "iffy" notes in it... the ones that either work great on me or completely ruin a blend depending on what they're mixed with... most notably mint and juniper. However, this does have aquatics and lotus in it, and those are always winners with me, so I was curious. At first, I really wasn't sure how much I liked this at all. All I could smell was the juniper, which when mixed with mint smells extremely medicinal to me as anything "green" tends to if it's too dominant. However, when it settled down, the aquatics and the lotus came out and began to take over, pushing the greener notes into the background and saving this for me. Overall, I think it reminded me of peppermint patties, which I adore, although nothing about it smelled chocolatey that I remember. I love the coolness of the scent, but I don't think this is one I'll be reaching for too terribly often due to the initial medicinal tone that needs time to recede into the background before I really start to enjoy it. However, this is one of those imps that I can see myself reaching for when I need a jolt or want to feel more alert, particularly when I'm writing. Not a bad scent at all, but not an everyday one either... at least not for me.

This scent was a freebie from the lab with my most recent order, and it was a very pleasant surprise. I'd noticed it on the BPAL site before, because I am just in love with the legend of Loralei, but I never ordered it because I tend to be disappointed by scents that have neroli in them. I don't hate them or anything, but they tend to be a little too "orangey" on me for my taste. That's what I expected from this one... neroli, to the point where I didn't really smell anything else in it... so it was literally the last one I sampled from my big pile of imps that came with my last order. Color me surprised, because this scent is a winner. It's beautiful, delicate, and feminine, yet it still has a mournful, languid feeling of wistful yearning to it (probably the work of the ylang ylang) that is very fitting, considering the legend this is inspired by. That's exactly the type of scent I tend to go for, and I'm disappointed in myself for not giving this a chance sooner. I do smell the neroli, but it's merely a faint whisper of oranginess in the background that does not intrude on the other notes at all, but blends in perfectly, complimenting them instead. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that this is something of an aquatic blend as well, as those tend to work very well on me and make notes that I normally would think I don't like a little more hospitable. Even my cat likes it, and she normally steers completely clear of me if I'm wearing anything even faintly scented of citrus! Overall this is a beautiful blend that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys light, wistful, feminine scents. I would also advise people who think they don't like neroli not to rule this one out because of it. This could be the one that works for you! I don't know that I'll be bottling this right away, as I have a lot of similar blends in 5mL already, but this is definitely one I'm going to be considering when I'm getting ready for summer. It's the ideal fragrance for lazy, thoughtful afternoons spent sketching or reading poetry.

I'm not sure exactly what I expected from this scent, but I was so intrigued by the description that I couldn't pass up trying it. It's been on my "I should get an imp of this sometime" list forever, and I only just now got around to actually ordering one and taking it out for a spin. This is quite lovely really. It's falling into the same mental category as Tezcatlipoca for me somehow. I think it's the rich earthiness mixed with edibles that is doing it, only Penny Dreadful smells like earth and ginger snaps to me while Tezcatlipoca was earth and dark chocolate. It's very warm, deep and spicy, yet still quite feminine. I'm not sure if this is a reaction I'm supposed to be getting from this, but this is definitely a breed of comfort scent to me. It makes me want to grab my big book of Sherlock Holmes mysteries, some tea and cookies, and a blanket to go spend a lazy evening by the fire. I don't know that this is on my "bottle me now" list yet, but then spicier scents rarely are since I only wear them occasionally. I do adore this though. I'll definitely be pulling this little imp out when I need something a little different or intriguing.

This really is quite nice, I must say, but then this is one of those scents that I could really see working on me from the start, so I bottled it right away. I love fruity florals, but I have quite a few of the "white and sweet" variety as it is. I was hoping that this one might turn out to be more "tart and red"... something nice when I want a change from my usual but still want one of my beloved fruity florals. That's pretty much exactly how it smells, too. On the whole, this is definitely a dark, strong, almost wine-like blend to me. I'm getting the rose and the pomegranate in equal amounts. Neither is overpowering the other on me. I am also getting a background note that smells almost smokey or ashy, but not at all in an unpleasant way. On the whole, I really am reminded of Persephone... a beautiful flower of a girl smack in the middle of hell. Persephone smells shadowy, melancholy, and almost sleepy to me but it is still a very pretty womanly scent to me. The rose makes sure of that. However the other notes keep this from being the "same old thing" since I have lots of rose scents by now. This is going to make me a wonderful bedtime scent, as I find it very relaxing for some reason. It's also going to be a gorgeous scent for the dead of winter. I was hoping to find something like this before it got really cold out!

By now, I guess I know my BPAL personality pretty well, because I knew I would love this scent the minute I read the description. (I also knew I just had to have it because Lilium Inter Spinas was my working title for my NaNoWriMo novel last month as well.) I guess what I'm getting at is that I bottled this one right away without hesitation. No regrets about that whatsoever either. This is an incredible scent. It feels delicate and beautiful because of the lilies, but the fig and sandalwood make it unusual, a little exotic and... a tiny bit sad even. Yes, this is the scent of a melancholy beauty. I think that describes it wonderfully. No wonder I like this so much. That's definitely the way I like to think of myself within the confines of my own mind. My boyfriend liked this one a lot as well. He picked me up after work to go get something to eat and remarked on how great I smelled the minute I got in the car. Lilium Inter Spinas smells the way I wanted Eden to smell. Eden was fine, but I just kept wishing it didn't have the dratted coconut in it... and maybe had an apple note instead. This smells exactly like I imagined Eden would with apple instead of coconut to me. Perfection! Straight into my top five this one went.

I guess I'm just not destined to be able to jump on the bandwagon with a lot of the scents I keep hearing such good things about. I'd been hearing a lot about how absolutely delish Ravenous is, so when the lab frimped it to me I was glad to have an opportunity to try it. While I've yet to find any BPALs that just made me scream in terror because it went really sour on me or something, this is definitely one of the ones that I just wasn't that impressed by. Seriously... it must be the orange thing with this one. Orange always sounds nice in theory to me, but I've yet to really fall in love with any scents that have orange as a dominant note. It also could be that it does smell a little like an orange creamsicle as someone else said. (Bad associations there, as I got dreadfully ill on orange creamsicles as a child and haven't touched them since.) It can't just be my preference though. The boy didn't really care for this one either. He didn't sniff it and make a face or anything, but he did say something to the tune of "I like your others so much better"... so I guess it's official orange + me = blah.

I'm sure it varies from person to person, but these are the ones that have been popular so far with my man. He likes a lot of the lighter old-fashioned gentleman's blends, especially Mad Hatter and Dorian. He wears both of those often. However, lately he's been hitting Absinthe pretty hard, and I must admit that it's a wonderful one to smell on a man. Others that I've given him that proved to be big hits include Dracul, Al-Shairan, Fenris Wolf, and Casanova.

Whip was a scent I was really curious about and have been meaning to try for a while now, so I ordered an imp of it with my last order. I had no clue how I would feel about it though, as it sounded like something I'd either love or hate. Actually I neither love nor hate this. It isn't an unpleasant smell, but it just really doesn't stand out from the pack for me. It seems like one of the ones that's better in theory than it is in reality. Now... I love the rose. Roses and me are like so a rose note in a BPAL blend gives it automatic points with me. However, I have so many rose blends by now that new ones have to really be something special in order to make it on to the bottle list. This one doesn't have that special something for me. I'm not really crazy about the leather in this at all. I don't hate it or anything, but it doesn't add anything special to the rose scent to me. It's just kind of... there. The scent as a whole blends together nicely after it dries down a bit, and it smells fine, but I'm definitely not in love. I might pull this one out for a change now and then, but I definitely don't need a bottle. It just isn't "me" enough for that.

I had pretty high hopes for this one, as it sounded exactly like something I would like. I don't think of myself as an "innocent" person at all, but for some reason, scents that most people would probably think of as being more innocent or girlish... light florals, sweet fruit blends, "clean" scents... are A+ winners on me. Juliet was no exception. This is very definitely one of those very sweet, fruity florals. If you like those, you'll like this. If you don't... well... stay away from Juliet, because the two of you won't get along. The sweet pea is definitely very strong, which it looks like a lot of people disliked, but I actually enjoy that about this. However, I can definitely still smell my beloved lilies and that delicious pear. (It seemed like the pear didn't come through very well on a lot of people, but it seemed to hold up on me just fine.) This certainly smells like something I could imagine Juliet wearing. I definitely love this one, but like I said, I knew that I would because I get long so well with this type of scent. (I'm actually sorry I didn't bottle this right off the bat for that reason.) The boyfriend loves it, too. I put it on while we were watching Shakespeare In Love yesterday, since it was so apropos, and he couldn't stop sniffing my wrist and saying how pretty it smelled.

Actually this is a blend whose description caught my eye more than once while browsing the BPAL site planning orders, but somehow it never actually made it into any of my orders. I'm sure you guys know how that goes... so many choices! The labbies must be psychic though, because this last time it showed up as a frimp, much to my great delight. Very nice scent... really. I'm a sucker for rose blends, so it had that going for it right off the bat. I don't think I've ever tried anything with frankincense in it before, as I was worried it would be too strong for my nose, which is most attracted to light fruity florals, so I didn't know what to expect, but wow... these work very nicely together and balance each other perfectly. This would be a wonderful blend to try if you are someone who likes either rose or incense notes, but are easily put off if they are too strong and overpower the blend. Although I already have several bottles of rose-based BPALs already, it looks like I'm about to have one more. Part of it is the sheer beauty of the scent itself, but a lot of it has to do with the way this brings back very pleasant associations when I wear it. Back where I used to live in California, there was a particular mission I used to visit often. The church portion of it was still a real Catholic church that held regular services, but the rest of the time it was completely open for tourists and the public to walk around in. I used to literally spend hours in there because it was so beautiful and seemed like such a peaceful place to be. This blend smells exactly like the inside of that church did, especially since it had rose bushes growing directly outside that you could smell faintly through the open door when you were in the church itself. As a result, when I wear this, the same peace literally floods over me. It's a wonderful feeling. Apparently the "church smell" had a lot to do with frankincense, which I'm not sure I really realized or thought about before. I always just thought of that smell as "church". Now that I know that though, I might have to take more frankincense blends out for a spin and see if we get along.

I was actually really excited to try this scent, as the Cheshire Cat is one of my all-time favorite literary characters. The notes sounded really promising as well, especially the lavendar and grapefruit. When this was freshly applied, all I could really smell was the grapefruit, and that was fine, I suppose, although I was hoping some of the other elements would be more obvious and make for a more complex scent. After a while, I did start to smell them coming through, especially the chamomile, and then I liked it quite a bit more. It morphed quite a bit from when I first applied this to when it had dried down and been on a bit though. Overall, this is a very nice scent, and I can see why it's popular. I can certainly see wearing this every so often as a summer fragrance, or possibly one of the ones I like to pull out when I'm looking for a "get-me-started" scent on a slower lethargic day... one that isn't as "in-your-face" as some of the more vibrant blends. However, I have other citrus-based scents that I prefer. I doubt I'd buy a bottle of this, because I can't see myself wearing it but once in a while, but it's nice enough to keep the imp, I think.

I am in love with this!! No joke. I went and sprung for a 5mL of this right off the bat, because I had a hunch that it was "me", and I'm so glad I did. It's just divine. The overall smell is very clean, fresh, and light, without being soapy. I can't quite put my finger on everything that I smell in this, but I definitely smell lily of the valley and ozone, two notes that work extremely well on me. There is also something salty there that I can't put my finger on at all. It's hanging there in the background adding depth to the scent and pulling everything together beautifully. I keep wanting to say that this scent "sings", because it really does... some beautiful, angelic song that you would expect to hear in a dream. The site description fits this scent to a tee. This also reminds me strongly of the ocean. I lived near the ocean most of my life and only recently moved away from it and am now missing it terribly. This scent completely brings back to me all that I loved about the sea, along with all the happy memories I have connected with it. Overall, this is a beautiful blend. Very clean, very feminine, and very unique... all the things that I look for in a scent. I may even have a new number one favorite. I highly recommend it, especially if you like lily of the valley, aquatics, or ozone. I can't even tell you how much you will like them together.

Oh God... no words to describe how much I love this scent. Now, this is one of those ones I probably would have tried eventually, since it was one of the Seven Deadlies, but the initial description really didn't appeal to me that much or grab me at all, so I put off requesting it as part of one of my imp packs. Enter the frimp I got with my last order. This scent is delicious! It's very green, very crisp, and very very fresh smelling.... like a margarita kind of... one of my all-time favorite drinks... or maybe a mojito. It also wakes me up and gives me that "alert" feeling I like, since I'm such a low energy person normally. This has quickly become my favorite scent to wear when I'm writing, as it really helps me concentrate. The lime, the mint... it's all working. And then there is the lavendar that ties it all together and makes it a very pretty scent as well. This is also a great unisex scent. My boyfriend loves this as much as I do, and lately we've been fighting over this poor little imp, we both love it so much. I can see that I am going to have to order a bottle or two STAT. Seriously... out of all the BPALs I've tried, this has easily fought it's way up to number two or three, and now it's got it's eye on the coveted "number one favorite" spot. The more I wear it, the more deeply I fall in love with it. Wonderful surprise you were, Envy. Well done, labbies!

This one was a frimp from the lab with my latest order. When I first took a sniff, I will admit that I had mixed feelings about it. I like the smell of fig, and the almond note can be pretty good depending on what it's mixed with. Coconut though? Eh... not my favorite. The smell of coconut reminds me of this really gross hair grease my mom put on my hair a couple of times as a kid that I couldn't stand, the smell of which would make me nauseous. (My stomach actually kind of lurched a little when I smelled it in the bottle because all I could smell was coconut at first, and the icky childhood memories kind of came roaring back to me.) However, every BPAL gets at least one chance with me, so I smeared some on last night before I sat down to work on my NaNoWriMo novel. Actually it wasn't half bad with the notes all blended together. The coconut kind of settled into the background after a few minutes and got along nicely with the almonds and figs, so what the overall smell wound up reminding me of was macaroons, which I love! Not a bad scent at all. I definitely recommend it to anyone that likes macaroons and wouldn't mind smelling a little like one. Do I need a bottle of this? Probably not. It's a relaxing scent, which I would definitely wear occasionally for bed or a day hanging around the house with the boyfriend (who loved this by the way), but I have others that fit into that category which I far prefer... Antique Lace and White Rabbit, to name just a couple. I'll definitely keep my imp and pull it out when I want a change though.

Red Queen was one of those scents that I took a chance on, going straight for the bottle and bypassing the imp altogether. That's how sure I was that I was going to like this. Cherry is one of my all-time favorite notes, second only to rose or lily, and I've really developed a love affair with wood notes lately. I wasn't disappointed. I really do like this, although I can see why a lot of people wouldn't. It's not for everyone. I didn't get the "cough syrup" reaction like some people did. This didn't seem medicinal at all to me, although it did smell slightly "alcoholic", like cherry cordials perhaps. Really all I smelled was cherry cherry CHERRY, and then lots of dark wood notes. Someone else mentioned being reminded of the smell of their grandmother's violin. (I also play violin, so I thought of the same thing actually, except it's a very pleasant association for me.) I also got a chocolate undercurrent from this, which surprised me, but was also very pleasant. Actually this smells exactly how I would imagine the Red Queen would actually smell, being a life-size chess piece... dark, red, strong, and very woody. For me, this is a winner, and makes a nice alternative to Queen of Hearts, which I also love. Queen of Hearts is cherry-based, but smells bright, white, and sunny to me. Red Queen has that same very cherry smell, but it's darker and deeper.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again. The idea of sending "frimps" with someone's order is sheer genius on the part of the labbies. I've tried, and fallen in love with, so many BPAL scents that I probably never would have ordered on purpose because they didn't sound even close to something I would like based on the description or the listed notes. Catherine is one of those scents for me. This actually smells like something poisoned, but in the most pleasant possible way, if that makes any sense at all. It's exactly like an impossibly beautiful woman with an evil heart if she could be transformed into a scent. The rose base is definitely a plus for me, as rose always gets along famously with my skin chemistry, and the rosemary and the citrus scent that are also there blend perfectly and give the rose that "kanker" that keeps this from being too sweet or cloying. The combination also wakes me up and makes me feel alert, so this is something that would be great for me to put on if I'm having one of those slow mornings that I tend to have. Someone above said something similar, but this really is a scent for a woman who is elegant and feminine, but at the same time strong, intelligent, one-of-a-kind, and wishes to be seen exactly that way. Would I buy a bottle of this? I would have to consider it, but only because on me it smells similar to Lucy's Kiss, which I already love and have a huge bottle of. However, Catherine is brighter and more "awake", while Lucy is sleepier, so there is that difference. Let's just say it's going on my bottle wish list... really close to the top.

I usually hear it in my head the same way they pronounced it in the movie Dangerous Liasons... Marquise= "mar-KEYS" de= "deh" Merteuil= "mer-TOY" That's about as close as I can get on a message board anyway.

I smell pine, pine and more pine.... especially at first.... but I can also detect the juniper some have described, as well as the eucalyptus. As for the floral? I'm really not getting it, but perhaps it will come out a bit after I've had this on for a while. It certainly isn't my favorite, but it is hardly unpleasant. Oh wait a minute now. I'm starting to smell something sweeter and almost honey-like trying to peak it's head out and make itself known, like a patch of wildflowers growing in the middle of a pine forest. Hmmm... interesting. Different. I actually like that it's different, because every so often I get tired of my usual florals and fruity blends and need a big change that day. I also really like that it wakes me up and makes me feel alert and focused. I have such a problem with that, and wind up procrastinating about so much I want or need to do because I get stuck feeling so blah. Well, Belladonna to the rescue. This is the perfect scent for me to wear while I'm working on NaNoWriMo. Seriously... I smeared on a little of this and I'm like.... hey, bring on the writing. I'm definitely not thinking "bottle" with this one, but I could certainly see keeping an imp around.

Now... I could never never wear this myself. It's far too masculine for me, as I'm one of those girls that favors the super-girly rose, lily, and cherry scents. That and although I like leather, and I even like the BPAL scents that contain leather notes, I don't necessarily care to walk around smelling like a saddle, and that's kind of what this smells like. Hot saddle leather mixed with pipe tobacco and a faint whiff of something musky that I can't quite put my finger on. Not bad, but not feminine at all to me, and definitely not something that's for everyone. However, if you have a guy that will let you smear BPAL all over him the way I do, make him wear De Sade. Seriously... make him. My boyfriend put this on before bed last night and he was subsequently ravaged by me after I smelled this layered over just... natural guy skin smell. Very very sexy. Seriously... I can't remember the last time I was that turned on by the way a guy smelled. And this is coming from a girl who is normally not the type to be turned on by colognes or anything like that at all. So... the verdict? I would vomit if I had to smell this on myself all day long, but on the boy.... wow. Just wow. Whole different ballgame.

The lab sends the orders complete. I think that you sent the lab enough information for them to check things. The lab will probably take care of the missing bottle more quickly than your original order will filled. If all of that isn't correct, I'm sure that someone will come along and tell us. Hi all. Like some of the posters before me, I'm not totally sure this is 100% on topic, but it seemed similar enough to other people's replies for me to think this is probably the best thread to post in. I got my latest BPAL order yesterday afternoon, but I only received 5 out of the 6 bottles I ordered. (My 5mL of Blood Countess was missing.) At first I just thought that I might have spazzed and only meant to order 6 but didn't actually do that, being kind of a scatterbrain, but when I checked my CCNow confirmation e-mail thingy that I saved, all 6 bottles were ordered and paid for by me, so it looks to me like the labbies accidentally overlooked one of them when filling the order. I e-mailed the customer service address on the website (answers@blackphoenixalchemylab.com) yesterday afternoon telling them what happened, included a copy of my CCNow confirmation, and am currently awaiting a reply. Yes, I understand that sometimes it takes a few days and that I should check my spam filters to make sure I don't miss the e-mail when it comes through, and I am totally prepared to be patient. I just had a couple of questions in the meantime and want to make sure all my bases are covered. - First of all, does the lab ever just fill part of an order and send the rest of it along later? I didn't think that was really how it was done, but I'm newer to BPAL so it's possible I don't really have it straight how everything works yet. - Second, is there anything else other than the CCNow confirmation I should have sent along with my inquiry, or will that have everything in it that the lab needs to correct the issue? - Third, how long do you guys think it will take to receive the missing bottle? Do things like that arrive faster than regular orders, or should I be prepared to wait as long as I would expect to if I placed a new order? It's not an emergency or anything like that, and I'm pretty patient. I'm just curious as to what to expect. ........ EDIT - 11/6/06: Just to let people know, in case they read this in the future, BPAL got my missing bottle out to me so fast my head spun. I got a CnS for it late Thursday (11/2/06) and had it in my hot little hands on Saturday (11/4/06) along with frimps of Catherine and Lust... so... yay!! BPAL not only makes a great product, but they're awesome when it comes to customer service/correcting mishaps as well.

I just got my latest order from the lab this afternoon, and since it was a decent size one, I got a lot of free imps to try. Somehow those are my favorite part. I love seeing what kind of surprises the labbies packed for me with my order. I was thrilled to see that Black Dahlia was one of them, since I just saw a little snippet on the History Channel (or maybe it was the Discovery Channel) about her the other night, remembered that there was a BPAL scent named after her, and instantly regretted not ordering a sample of it with this last shipment. Even though this scent is a bit stronger than I would normally go for, it is a floral, and I do love my old-fashioned ultra-femme florals. This is definitely that. It also smells very dark, smoky, perhaps a touch tragic, yet also quite elegant. It isn't the kind of floral you associate with bright, spring afternoons. This one is more of a night walk through a Savannah hothouse to me while dressed to the nines. It's definitely the kind of thing you would picture a sophisticated, well-dressed, vintage-era temptress putting on for a night out. Although like many BPAL scents, Black Dahlia tends to change as you wear it with the different notes taking turns coming through, the overall smell of this reminds me strongly of Poison by Christian Dior, which is probably the only commercial department store perfume that I ever bought a huge whopping bottle of and wore fairly often. Overall verdict? I really like this. It's a floral like my staple scents that I wear all the time, yet it's also a nice deviation from the norm for me. I haven't quite decided if this is going to be one of the bottles I order next, since I don't see myself wearing it every single day due to the headiness of it, but it's definitely on my bottle list. Perfect for a night out, a special occasion, or for one of those days when you really feel like glamming it up.
