  1. Forbidden Fruit is kind of like a sour candy on me.

    Black Lotus

This had a strange burnt sugar smell on me. It was nothing like Blood Lotus. I don't really care for this one, primarily because the lotus is nowhere to be found. Body chemistry screwed it up, I guess.

    Blood Lotus

While wet, this smells like bubblegum. The sweetness quickly disappears once dry...oddly enough, the drydown smells exactly like Lust on me. I like Lust, so Blood Lotus is alright with me.
  4. From what I understand, Hollywood Babylon might be candy-sweet because of the strawberry.

    Magdalene

Magdalene was really terrible on me. I think it was the labdanum... While wet, it radiates almost a gingery smell that actually reminded me of Asian style chicken. It calms down a bit, but not nearly enough to enjoy the florals. When dry, it smelled kind of like Tamora with ginger chicken over it. Body chemistry... ::shakes head::

    Intrigue

Grr, what happened to my review? First sniff: Very strong fig. I'm not sure I'm going to like this. Wearing it: Intrigue is a very smooth scent, a polished brown color. All notes in this fragrance are in perfect balance. The cocoa teeters between woody smells, but the cedar is not very pronounced on me. Overall: Intrigue is a beautiful scent. It's not my style to wear, but I've never tried anything like this. I just couldn't stop smelling it...

    Shattered

A very cold scent. Smells like a good piece of gum! It wasn't too sharply mint, however -- it was rounded out nicely and made a bit sweeter by the other notes. Cool/green scents aren't me at all, so I wouldn't wear it, but Shattered is still good. Would be very nice for someone who likes these notes, or for use as a room scent.

    Pulse Points

This smelled like church, when I was really young. Church smelled like old people's breath. Ahh, civet. I had zero floral smell come out on me, unfortunately.

    Goneril

The cedarwood came out very strongly on me. Even after Goneril dries and fades, the cedar is still prominent, never allowing the flowers to come out and play.

    Black Rose

Out of the bottle: Whoa, this smells like a hotel soap. I don't know if I want to smell like soap. Wet: A burst of roses! Whatever soapy smell I detected is no longer present. Dry: I don't smell the musk or amber at all, just rose. Six hours later: The rose has faded entirely and I'm left with a baby powder scent...unfortunately, this is my least favorite scent ever. Overall: I really loved Black Rose in its early stages. If you like a powdery scent, this is good. It's soft, not green at all like some flowers smell. I'm sure I'll wear this again, but maybe mixed with something that stays sharper after a few hours of wear.

    Tamora

This reminds me a bit of O, but a fruitier, more floral version. The peachy scent is strong when wet but calms down quickly. Unfortunately, Tamora faded on me so quickly that I couldn't enjoy it. Maybe mixed with lotion it will last longer.

    O

Out of the bottle: Hmm, a bit fruity. Wet: It must be the amber I'm smelling, because I don't catch any vanilla. This is a bit sharp. Dry: I'll admit, I disliked O the first few times I tried it. But once it dries, the blend of amber, honey, and vanilla is really perfect. The fruity trace disappears, and the three notes are in complete balance. Overall: I'm looking forward to wearing O today -- quite different from my first reaction to it, and a bit surprising as I hate to diverge from my favorite perfume. If I don't feel like wearing it straight on, it will be a nice scent to hide behind my ears for my boyfriend to find.

    Hunger

When first applied, Hunger is a sharp orange oil, and nothing else. It blends into a sweet and warm scent that I'll have to admit is quite reminiscent of a creamsicle. It's pleasant, but not something I would wear every day.

    Desire

While this scent definitely evokes its namesake, Desire smelled very inappropriate on me. I felt like a little girl playing dress-up with mommy's lipstick. Desire is a very mature scent, not for the innocently sexual.
  15. I had that problem with Snake Oil too. I'll suggest diluting it in a body lotion, too -- instead of concentrating the scent in one area you'll be able to spread the scent all around and hopefully avoid a rash.

    Snake Oil

Edited: Snake Oil kept calling me back again and again. I apologize if you read one of my reviews where I didn't seem to like it -- Snake Oil is now my favorite. My first time trying it I thought it was a mix between a strong incense and vanilla extract for cooking. Trying it again, blended with lotion Smelled smokier and spicier. Definitely sexy. Thought it dried to a smell reminiscent of Play-Doh. Boyfriend thought it smelled like an old person's perfume. Here and now Man, do I love this. It's a perfect, spiced vanilla. I need more. Overall If you don't like Snake Oil the first time, try it a few days later. Maybe apply it to a different part on your body, or if it's too strong, mix it with lotion. Don't give up! Snake Oil is sexy and mysterous, but may take a few tries to get used to its power.

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

oh-NYE-roy I at least know the oh-NYE part is correct, as in oneiric ("relating to dreams").

    Anyone wear BCBGirls Sexy?

Ahh, so no scents that strike you as "old lady"? That's perhaps what I'm most afraid of -- a scent that is just old and powdery.
  19. Lately I've been wearing BCBGirls Sexy (until I receive my first BPAL order). I don't care too much for the top notes, but it's lovely once it settles down. Sexy consists of: - top: spicy mandarin, redberry, bigarade - heart: jasmine, clove, lily of the valley, rose - base: amber, incense, vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, musk For my first BPAL order I went off of Sexy's base notes and got Snake Oil, Tamora, O, Lust, Hunger, and Ravenous...hopefully they should be arriving soon! I'm afraid to try scents from BPAL with jasmine, lily of the valley, and rose (all Sexy middle notes) because they all sound too sickeningly sweet. But since the florals are in a perfume I love, I'd like to give them a try. Does anyone else use BCBGirls Sexy who could compare the floral notes to something BPAL for me?
