  1. Ugh. Apparently I do not like BPAL hemp. This is horrible on my skin, the hemp amps up to high medicinal/manly/metallic in a bad way and covers everything else. It nearly gives me a headache. As my wife put it "the perfect balance between the hemp, vanilla, and patchouli is what makes banshee beat so awesome. This doesn't have that balance and it makes it horrible."

I'm starting to feel that most of the protos are protos for a reason. Beth's a professional for a reason! :wub2:

  2. Man, I really thought this one was going to be perfect. I love amber. It's something that my chemistry usually morphs well. Not here. It get a strong powder that reminds me of old lady spit. Of how my grandmother's house used to smell and it always made be gag a little. Now, this doesn't actually make me gag but it is close. I really don't like this one. :(

  3. I agree that this is very dirty. Wet, it's very similar to graveyard dirt, but with less tang. Dry, I think there might be a little bit of basil in this! Wonderful green dirty awesomeness.

ETA: on the fade out this got a little perfumey for me. Something else creeped in that I'm not too thrilled with. I will be trying this again for sure.

  4. I'm wondering if my bottle is from a different batch, or something else all together. Wet, this is buttery and a little bit of resins. Dry, it's carnation and a little bit of resin. This needs to age, but there is not any patchouli in this, and it is nothing like panther moon.

I'm sad as the other reviews made it sound amazing. I think with some aging it will be good but nothing like the others have described.

  5. In the bottle: That sharp tang that is all I smell when a blend has dirt. Not a smell I like in the bottle, but I love most on my skin.

Wet: Dirt. Sweet, deep, amazing dirt. I love it when it's wet and for about the first two hours.

Dry: I think something is going wrong with my chemistry. This gets VERY powdery. Very, old ladyish, and not something that I'm sure I like. I think it's the combination of the amber and the musk that is doing this. But I still think I like the throw, so I think this might do well as a scent to wear, but not something to huff. If that makes any sense.

I will have to layer this with the queen of clubs, as they seem like they would layer well.

  6. So when talk of the RPGs was going around, someone posted like a quiz to find out what character you were. I got chaotic evil human ranger. So of course this was the first combo I tried.

Wet: Chaotic is overpowering and making this sweet musky, like the candy, which I can't stand. I'm a little worried about this!

Dry: The leather comes out, but none of the opium. Musky leathery with a slight tang in the back ground. Nice but not sure I'd wear it again. Good thing I just got imps!

  7. This is mostly juniper and mint on my skin. The lotus in this is either hiding or different kind than is in lotus moon and black lotus, as it doesn't make me sick like those do. A tolerable lotus scent, but nothing good.

  8. Meh. I'm usually a big fan of vetiver, but not a fan of violets. I would have never been able to pick out the violet, but now that I've read it, I can. It's there making the vetiver gross! It almost makes it remind me of chicken bullion cubes for some reason. It adds a sharp almost rancid quality that I just do not like.

  9. I would email them again. I emailed on Saturday of this week and heard back on Monday. Make sure you include your order number in the subject line so they know what they're looking for and I'm sure they will get back to you. Honestly orders from the beginning of last month aren't that far off where they should be, but if you are concerned email them again. They will work it out, they always do!

  10. VAMP.GOTH
    Rose-infused opium tar and leather.

This was almost exactly like Clermont on my skin. Same sharp soapy rose overpowering the opium tar and no leather to be found. I think a little aging would do this one good, but I'm not sure it could over come my skin chemistry.

  11. Oh man, this is the stuff. I'm a huge fan of opium, my past favorites being event horizon and chrysanthemum moon.

This is a lighter, softer opium. Like beginners opium. Unfortunately, this is also the blend that helped Lace realize that what she hates in most of my perfumes is opium. I'm not sure if this one is good enough to still wear, we'll see.

Overall, very sweet opium, you can sure smell the rose, but it blends in nice, and is a tolerable kind of rose. Not at all like the nastiness of fresh picked roses.

  12. Ugh. I don't know what's going on with this scent and me, but we do NOT get along.

In the bottle it smells like weed whacking. I mean, it smells like when you go out and weed eat. You've got the pollen, the dry grass, a little bit of wet grass, and sweat. And heat and more dust.

    Ugh.

My nose is very picky about leather, I generally do not care for it, and it often smells fake to me. But this is exceptionally bad. If this is really what this place smells like, I do not want to go there. No.

Once it's dry it takes on a sickly sweet smell that makes me really want to wash it off, and reminds me of some exceptionally stale rooibos macadamia tea I once had. No sir.

  13. Crushed herbs and sweet amber resin with a streak of patchouli, neroli and golden musk.

I won this bottle in one of the lab's recent ebay auctions. So long have I wanted to smell this one. The description sounds perfect!
Sadly, that is not the case. I mostly get the 'crushed herbs' and not much else. I threatens to turn into the dreaded bell pepper note of great mystery. Hardly a trace of the amber of patchouli, and only a slight hint of the musk. *sigh*

  14. This is on my list of the worst BPAL of all time.

Something in this is just not right on my skin. Once on, I get baby powder and lemon. But not really baby powder, more like baby powder that's been on a poopy butt and lemon. Did I mention how much I really don't like lemon? Or baby powder? And of course, when I put this on, it was running out the door to go for a 3 hour drive. :/ It also wasn't just my nose, as the wife agreed with the baby powder and lemon nastiness.

  15. I've never smelled any version of hod before. I generally like carnations, though I'm not really a floral kind of girl. This is a light and vanillaish floral that is nothing special to me. Very soft throw and not much staying power.

  16. I have a kind of complicated way to get some perfume from LA area to myself in Canada.. not by post.. and I was hoping to get some retail salons.. but I don't know where from..

Can anyone tell me what Dark Delicacies currently carries?

I have heard they have a full GC line (and I've seen the shelves!) but do they have any LEs? Does Dark Del carry retail salons or is that reserved only for Le Pink in the LA area?

    Kthx :)

(ETA: Does anyone know what the prices of the retail salons in the store are, or can point me to where I can find that info?)

I have basically the same question.

Where in So Cal can I find retail salons? I'm going to bat's day and figured I should stop by somewhere while I'm down there . . . I thought there was a whole foods down there somewhere that had them, but I'm also sure there's more than one in all of LA.

Thanks for any help, and sorry if I'm missing the obvious.

I can only answer for Dark Delicacies - they have all of the general catalogue and SOME limited edition stock (not the most recent update) and the Dark Delicacies exclusives but NO retail only Salons, because those were only for Le Pink. Anyone interested in specific retail only Salons should call and speak to someone at Le Pink directly, because someone mentioned them not having stock of all of those bottles anymore, so if you want 'em, let the store know!

As far as I know, there are no Whole Foods stockists in California, so the CA places to buy Black Phoenix products would be Dark Delicacies and Le Pink. :) Hope that helps!

Sweet! Thank you so much. That answers everything!
