Red wine and dark chocolate are two great things that taste great together, but do they smell great together? Not on me! Also I try to never wear a perfume I can't spell.

    Ultraviolet

I haven't been disappointed by a BPAL violet blend yet. This one starts out as strong strong mint but fades very quickly to a cool, mossy violet with maybe just a hint of the mint remaining. This would be great to wear on a warm spring day, or on a day when you need to wake up quickly but not smell too overpowering once you're awake. Beautiful and very aptly named.
  3. "Try everything you can" is indeed good advice. I've bought lots of imps that I thought sounded like they'd work, but have thrown a lot of random ones into my forum orders, too, just to see what they're like. It's been a BPAL overload for a few weeks at my house but I now have a pretty good idea of what works well on me (foody, fruity, most florals, etc.) and what doesn't (most incensey blends, vetiver, anything with "smoke" in the description). Spending a bit of money this way has helped me narrow things down a *lot* and now I can look at the LEs and know fairly well what's worth getting, which'll save me quite a lot in the future.

    Mouse's Long and Sad Tale

Vanilla and sandalwood, two of my favorites. In fact, this smells almost exactly like the bottle of Vanilla Sandalwood spray I bought from A Zaftig Woman last month, just more complex. This will be great in cold weather.

    Jailbait

Foul temptress! She smells so delicious (bubble gum and cherry candy) and has great throw...then she brings horrid red welts up on my skin. Bad little girl! First BPAL to do that to me, too. I love the scent though so I'll keep the imp and find some way to use it.

    Bordello

OMG this is good. It's nothing like I was expecting; I was thinking "boozy" but this is more fruit and cream. And it's STRONG. I have, um, six scents on me right now and this one is the one I keep smelling. And it's stayed very true since I put it on hours ago. Bottle! Now!

    The Candy Butcher 2006

Those who have dubbed this "Chocolate Snow White" are dead on. They both have a distinct aroma of the play dough on me (What causes that?). However, now that I've had CB on for a couple of hours, the cocoa is coming out more. I'll give it some time and see how the oil ages.

    Two, Five & Seven

I've been working my way through BPAL's rose scents, trying to find the perfect one...so far my favorite's been Blood Rose (sexy roses) but for fresh, perfect roses...oh my god, this is it. I opened the imp and moaned with delight. Just gorgeous! Blood Rose has some competition!

    March Hare

This is indeed just like the description of apricot and clove. Mmm. After about 30 minutes I started to get a sort of doughy thing in there too, like pie crust. Nice! I'll be trying it again on a cold day.

    Tweedledee

Holy Fruity Pebbles! There's an initial very strong kumquat note and then...cereal. But I like it; it's refreshing on a hot day. Not the best staying power but this still may go on my list of stuff to buy bottles of for next summer. This would indeed make a great soap or shower gel.

    The King of Hearts

A strong blast of cherry quickly morphing into lavender, with the wood just under the surface. This is quite delicate for a king, very pretty, even. And something I could wear when in close proximity to people who can't stand strong scents, because it's very...quiet. Nice!

    Lady MacBeth

On me this is a dead ringer for the single-note raspberry scent that Sephora stores sold as part of their house brand stuff when they first opened. The bastards at Sephora discontinued all of those scents so I'm happy to have at least one of them back! Pure raspberry candy.
  13. Depraved smells like dirt to me...really dark, earthy dirt.

    Pink Phoenix

So gorgeous--sweet but not sickening, pink in liquid form (and boy do I smell the honeycomb), and I haven't had to reapply at all. And it hasn't morphed into anything weird. Just delicious sweetness! So now I want to cry because, of course, it's no longer available. I'm off to haunt Ebay.

    Persephone

I wore this today and found it beautiful--it goes back and forth from rose to fruit to rose to fruit and sometimes a blend of the two on me. It has good staying power too. This did make my neck and throat itch where I dabbed it, but only there--I also put it on my wrists and the backs of my knees and no itching. I usually don't have a problem with florals or fruits of any kind, so I wonder what about this made me itchy.

    Thirteen (13)

This is beautiful--it's chocolatey but so complex too. It reminds me of Nutella or the Mozart chocolates you can buy in Vienna. I'm very glad there's a Friday the 13th coming up next month because this is definitely bottle-worthy!

    Jester

Thoroughly delicious. This reminds me of some fruity chewy candy from Taiwan I had once...purple and juicy berries. It starts out with a lot of throw but calms down in a few minutes to something a little less loud. Doesn't have the greatest staying power but it's such a pleasure to dab another drop on my wrists that I don't mind touching it up every few hours. This is a very summery scent; I'll enjoy the imp in these last few weeks of hot weather and add this to the "order a bottle sometime next spring" I'm working on. And this has prompted me to order an imp of Akuma to try next!

    Eat Me

Eat Me reminds me of pink cake mix! Delicious, and quite subtle. I don't like foody scents that make people say "Where's the cake?" the minute you walk into a room. This is more of a "What smells good?" scent. And although it's not overpowering it's fairly long-lasting; I've worn it overnight and can still smell it in the morning. I need a bottle!

    Gluttony

I'm sort of appalled that I'm so in love with this scent, as it's so ridiculously sweet and gooey, and I didn't like it much when I first tested it. But the second time...and the third time...OMG. About five minutes after application it turns into this wonderful cinnamon/caramel deliciousness on me and stays that way for hours. Then the cinnamon fades and it's just sweet caramel/sugary goodness. I've worn it to bed for two nights now and it's still going strong when I wake up in the morning. I may need a bottle of this although I'm not sure if I'll ever wear it in public!
