    Waraizome

ITB: It reminds me of a nice men's cologne (verbena and oakmoss) with a bit of woody spiciness to it. Wet: I get verbena paired with an interesting green smokiness from the oakmoss. There is also a slightly effervescent note, which might be the sassafras and the anise seed. It's an interesting scent, slightly reminiscent of the Hell of Great Heat, but much better. Dry: The throw is great with this one. I keep getting whiffs of verbena and sandalwood each time I move my wrist and it is absolutely lovely. While it does skew more masculine to my nose, I still would wear this more frequently, especially once I finish testing all my untested scents.

    Tanuki No Amiuchi

ITB: Oh, that reminds me exactly of some the incense I bought from one of the temples I visited while in Kyoto. It's woodsy, resinous, slightly smoky, and faintly sweet. Wet: The gardenia, ti leaf, and sandalwood are gorgeous on my skin. There is a touch of matcha and cedar under, which ground the scent. It's lovely! Dry: It gets sweeter due to the gardenia, but there is still a beautiful resinous and woody quality to this scent that is both soothing and evocative.

    Nigredo v7

ITI: It's an interesting smoky, resinous blend. It reminds me of the lab's vetiver and its fire/smoke notes. I think there might be some galbanum in here along with something that is just the tiniest bit green, like menthol. Wet: Oh yeah, that's vetiver with camphor and some kind o f resinous wood underneath, perhaps myrrh, but it is not as sweet as I would normally anticipate it to be. Dry: There is a slightly sweet spiciness to the scent as it dries, as if there were a supple brown leather note rubbed with all spice, infused with vetiver and camphor or cedar.

    CD: Misfortune Teller v3

ITI: It smells like red musk, vanilla, plum, and something that reads as very dark to my nose. I don't pick up the other fruits of the released Mmn. Moriarty version, though. Wet: There's lots of vanilla here along with red and maybe even brown musk. I can pick up the plum and there is a faint very patchouli note in here, but it seems to be lost under the vanilla, plum, and musk. Dry: As it begins to try, it smells like there might even be a wood note in here, although that may due to the patchouli. There's something that is vaguely like camphor mingled with the spicy plum and vanilla. The more it settles, the spicier it becomes. This is what I imagine the worms on Dune smell like, and it's delicious.

    Gobo

ITI: Vanilla cream and the perfect blend of sugar and tart pink grapefruit with the faintest hint of lemon. Yum! Wet: This reminds me exactly of an Orange Julius. It's more tangerine than grapefruit which, when combined with the sugar and vanilla cream, makes for a deliciously decadent scent. Dry: The scent doesn't change much once dried. It's still warm, bright, and delicious!

    Wood Phoenix

ITB: It's sweet and herbal, almost like herbal lozenges, although there is enough musk, fig, and clove to keep it interesting. Wet: It's a bit more woody on my skin - clear walnut and some other, warmer wood. This is followed by a musky fig tone with clove. The lozenge-like note I believe is the bamboo, which is still pretty prevalent. Dry: Once it begins to settle, the fig warms up and, together with the clove, becomes a lovely tone paired with the wood and bamboo.

    Velvet Panther

ITB: It's styrax, agarwood, and star anise that first jump out on me. After that, I get very faint musk and just an impression of the King mandarin. Wet: It's musky and sweet at the same time from the black vanilla, King mandarin, star anise, musk, and violet leaf. There is a note in here that is a little sour, but I'm not sure what it is. Dry: It's not as long-lasting as I would have expected. After only a few hours, the scent has settled down to a very faint combination of vanilla, musk, styrax, and anise.

    A Blade of Grass

ITB: It does smell like dried Autumn leaves, cut grass, and something that's reading as green and bitter. It does remind me of a wet November morning. Wet: As soon as it hits my skin, the scent gets more bitter, but that dies down within seconds to the cool sweetness of cut grass and the dry, papery tone of leaves. Dry: The scent gets softer in tone and a bit duskier, but it is still clearly autumnal leaves and grass.

    Oakmoss Accord

ITB: This is a woodsy, smoky, leathery, and slightly floral oakmoss. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting such complexity out of this single note. Wet: Yes, this is rather leathery, although there is a slightly sharp pine-quality faintly underneath he earthy greenness. Dry: It's more leathery than green now. It's masculine, but in a positive way.

    Hope and Fear Set Free

ITB: The patchouli is more of a floral frankincense than an earthy one. In this blend, it has a nice undertone from the bourbon vanilla. Wet: Deeply and floral-sweet bourbon vanilla swirls and mingles beautifully with the aged frankincense. It's feminine, sensual, and ever so slightly heady while still being floral. Dry: Wow, it's even prettier when dried. It actually reminds me of Lush's Snowcake mixed with Lush's Silky Underwear. It's lightly floral, pleasantly powdery, and sweet in all the right ways. This is an absolutely gorgeous scent!

    Pale, Without Name or Number

ITB: I get a strong sense of green musk with violet leaf and subtle tones of carrot seed. It is a similar quality - something earthy and slightly dark - to the scent I reviewed yesterday (I Am Tired of Tears and Laughter). Wet: It's a bit more earthy thanks to the carrot seed and green musk, although the violet leaf is still pretty clear. There is only a faint impression of ho wood. It's an odd scent and I'm not sure whether or not I really like it. Dry: After 12 hours, the scent is hardly detectable. I smell something soft and clean, but nothing distinct. After reapplication and roughly an hour of settling time, the scent is dusty, very musky, and slightly sweet, the musk and oudh being the most distinguishable notes. It's odd and I'm still not sure I like this as well as I had anticipated.

I am Tired of Tears and Laughter

ITB: All I can get from the bottle is glorious white lavender. It makes me want to drift off to sleep. Wet: Gosh, this lavender is so clean and herbal. I love it even if I can barely detect the benzoin. Dry: It dries quickly down to an intensely resinous and almost earthy blend with tones of pungent white lavender swirled in. Interesting.

    Time's Infliction of Eternity

ITB: I was expecting something much stronger, much more resinous. Instead, I get a really lovely scent composed of fragrant black tea and something pleasantly floral and perhaps a touch of licorice. Wet: A very floral, almost licorice smelling dragon's blood mingles with darker tannin-laden tea (like English Breakfast). It's gorgeously dark and enticing, while still being slightly sweet and now faintly resinous. Dry: Once dried, the scent becomes a very subtle blend of floral dragon's blood and faintly sugared tea. It's a bit more gentle now, but still a very attractive scent.

Snake Oil in the Pumpkin Patch

ITB: Pumpkin, spices, a touch of breadiness, and Indonesian oils steeped in vanilla slithering subtle beneath. Wet: The Indonesian oils are much stronger on my skin. It makes the pumpkin take on a slightly heady tone, although there still is a foody quality to this, especially with Snake Oil's sugared vanilla. Dry: Light pumpkin with a touch of smoked vanilla and slightly heady Indonesian oils. It's really nice once settled. It reminds me of freshly extinguished incense.

    Dorian in the Pumpkin Patch

ITB: Bready pumpkin, deep spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, under which is the gentle, lingering scent of a very nice fougere. Wet: It's an interesting dichotomy with the warm pumpkin and spices set against the cold fougere and tannin-rich black tea. Dry: It's more Dorian than anything once dried - fougere, black tea, sugar, vanilla, musk, and a touch of faint pumpkin. This is a winner for me!

    Moroccan Pumpkin Patch

ITB: I smell foody pumpkin pie with some delicious spices. It doesn't smell too differently from Pumpkin V several years ago. Wet: Warm spiced pumpkin with a slight pie-crust undertone to it as soon as it hits my skin; however, the moment it starts to settle, the cassia creeps in, as does the musk. It's much more spicy than Pumpkin V now, which I like. Dry: Once it has dried, it becomes a bit softer and muskier. There seems to be a hint of vanilla mingled with the pumpkin, cassia, spices, and sandalwood. It's rather pleasant.

    Death Adder

ITB: Sugared vanilla, and black coconut are the clearest notes in the bottle. I do get some Snake Oil, but it is a bit sweeter here than it is when applied to the skin. Wet: I get vanilla, lightly toasted coconut (so good!), resinous and slightly ready opoponax, and a hint of sugar from the Snake Oil. It's absolutely gorgeous. Dry: Super heady and amazingly sexy. The opoonax mingles thickly with the vetiver and the black coconut, under which is faint vanilla and Indonesian oils. I want to bathe in it.

    Cherokee Rose Single Note

ITB: It's a bright rose scent. I get more of a lighter colored rose rather than the darker rose note of scents like Rose Red. Wet: Although I didn't smell it in the bottle, here is a lemon zest tone to the rose scent. They seem to complete for most dominant note, so it's a bit discordant. Dry: Once dry, the rose note is a bit powdery, although there is a still a subtle tone of lemon zest. It certainly is a bit of a different rose scent.

    Olibanum

ITB: Resinous and woodsy - gorgeous! It reminds me of pitch in the forest surrounded my faint impressions of frankincense and something with a slight menthol tone to it. Wet: Gosh, this is interesting. It reads as camphor, menthol, lemon, cedar, and sweet frankincense all at the same time. Dry: It's warmer and sweeter ( a resinous sweetness) once dried down. There is a faint powdery tone to it, the like soft remnants of burned incense.

    Siberian Musk

ITB: I was expecting something slightly animalistic, but also a little woodsy from this scent. What I get is a powdery resinous tone with deeper, muskier hues underneath the powder and resin. Interesting. Wet: Gosh, this is gorgeous. It's airy, powdery in the best way, slightly florid, and deeply resinous. This is a fabulous musk! Dry: It's certainly more animalistic and musky now that it has dried, but it's still beautifully powdery, resinous, and just gorgeous!

    Gothabilly

In the Imp (ITI): Cherries, liqueur, and musk. Interesting. Wet: It smells like chocolate-covered cherry cordials with a healthy dose of thick vanilla and heady musk. Dry: Once dried for a little, the scent is soft, musky, with hints of vanilla-infused cherries. It almost has a smoky tone, which I really enjoy.

    Pumpkin Patch III (2005, 2006)

ITB: While this only has two notes listed, it smells like there is a yeasty pie-crust tone in there along with the pumpkin and the pomegranate. It's not bad, but more foody than I had expected. Wet: It's pomegranate, but more of a candy than the fruit itself. There is a bit of buttery pumpkin present, but the pomegranate is rather strong at the moment. Dry: The pomegranate becomes soft and almost floral, under which the pumpkin subtly resides. It reminds me of a really pretty candle at the Yankee store.

    Pumpkin V (2008)

Pumpkin with cranberry, strawberry, red musk, red rose, rosehip, frankincense, fig, jasmine, and carnation. ITB: It reminds me of pumpkin cheesecake with strawberry preserves and roses. There is a certain bready quality to the scent, but it reminds me more of Thanksgiving than Halloween. Wet: On my skin, the rose, rosehip, musk, jasmine, and cranberry are more prominent through the foody pumpkin. It's a very nice blend so far. Dry: After several hours, the scent is very faint. I can still get the impression of pumpkin and cranberries, but I wish that the silage was better.

    Peach V

ITI: It's certainly white peach, delicate tea, and honey (yes, the bad kind). Wet: It's bright, faintly sweet, and subtly fruity. Oddly enough, the honey isn't misbehaving as badly as it usually does on my skin, so I can actually tease out the succulent peach and the white tea with tones of neroli. Dry: After several hours, the peach and honey remain. It's pretty and soft, but the honey has a slightly Honey Bucket impression, so this won't be for me. I just wish my skin wouldn't change such a beautiful note to something so horrible.

    Peach III

ITI: I don't get much champagne here from the mimosa, but I smell a richly fruity and fermented wine. Wet: Very strong fermented, fruity wine and a hint of light mimosa, but it's mainly wine for me at this point. Dry: As it starts to dry, the wine steps back and the sweet, succulent peach paired with a white-toned mimosa come forward in a gorgeous combination. Once fully dried, the wine comes back, but not enough to make me dislike it. It's decent, actually.
