    Laudanum

In the Imp: My, this is weird. Not sure what I'm smelling but it's making my head spin. Wet: Medicinal. Not in a good way. Dry: Ick! Medicine and sometimes I get a whiff of what smells like burnt engine oil. Its got a butt load of throw and makes me a bit woozy when I smell it. So odd.

    The Black Tower

I was expecting Black Tower to be too masculine for me but it's surprisingly soft. It's quite the morpher and very complex. At different times during the dry-down wine, leather, ozone, ambergris, and sandlewood took center stage. In the end, it settled down into a beautiful, quiet scent of all the notes. I can see a desolate tower near the edge of the sea while sniffing this. A cerebral scent that I can see wearing on my more introspective days. Exquisite.

    Le Lèthè

Most of the notes in Le Lethe work on me but I wasn't sure about Black Orchid or Hemlock notes since I hadn't tried a blend with them before. I'm always skeptical of floral notes because so many of them have ruined a scent for me. Well, apparently hemlock and orchid work on my skin because Le Lethe is drop dead sexy! Hot damn, I'm gonna have to reorder my top ten list. In the imp: Red musk and amber Wet: What the...citrus? Weird. Plus, both musks and nutmeg. Dry: That citrus scent goes away but what I end up with is a very complex scent. spicy, smokey musk on top followed by a soft, powdery amber mixed with a light floral in the middle. All of this layered on top of a sharp-ish note (maybe the hemlock) at the base. Absolutely wrist-eating good Getting a bottle of this on my next order.

    Dionysia

I was positive, judging from the notes, that this scent would be fab on me. So, I bought a bottle untested but Dionysia has been so fickle with me I tested the scent out three times and gotten three different results. 1st Test: It was just raunchy from wet to dry. I was so upset I stuck her in the very back of my cabinet as punishment. 2nd Test: A month later something possessed me to try this scent again. Wet: this was just awful. I was thinking "Oh, no! here we go again". But dry, this morphed into a really light, fruity scent. Not my favorite, but certainly a nice scent. 3rd Test: Today, I decided to give her a third shot. Wet to dry, this scent is fantastic. I don't know if my skin chemistry has changed or what? I'm getting fruit and benzoin coming out strong, a bit of floral, earth, and resin. I know there is no wine note but I smell wine, red wine. I love boozy notes, so this is a bonus. During the first test Mahogany was prevalent but this time around I can't smell it at all. Ummm, maybe the mahogany note was the culprit before. So glad that I am loving this scent now but I will test it a few more times just to be certain.

    Graveyard Dirt

... This is the scent of pure graveyard dust, spattered with grave loam and dusted lightly with tombstone moss. Holy Crap! I could swear I'm working in my garden. It is so impressive how Graveyard Dirt actually smells like freshly turned, moist, rich soil. I do also get a bit of plant or herbal in the background. GD doesn't do any morphing. It smells on my skin just like it did in the bottle which is awesome. This will be a fantastic scent to apply for elemental earth workings.

    Bastet

For me, Bastet is more of a feeling than a scent. That's because it stays awfully close to the skin and the scent is so light my nostrils have to touch my wrist to smell anything. I do get light whiffs of amber, almond, floral when I do get close. But, like I said, it's more of a feeling. Bastet feels warm, golden, and soft.

    Roadhouse

Really was looking forward to this one but it smells gross on my skin. It smells sleazy and stale. When I sniff this I get an image of a dirty, concrete floor with spilt, flat beer and oil stains on it. Wierd, I know. Worst than that, it has a lot of throw and I couldn't completely scrub it off my skin

    Aureus

In the imp its all amber. On the wrist I get amber, patchouli, cedar, and perhaps sandalwood. Its a very dry scent and I agree with the reviews that it reminds me of Cathedral (which I love). I like this scent but not enough to warrant a bottle.

    A Countenance Forboding Evil

I love patchouli and vetiver so when the lab sent me a freebie of this I was really excited. Imp: Smack you in the nose patchouli, vetiver, and smoke. Wet: The citrus comes out briefly but it's still mostly Patchouli/Vetiver. Dry: Citrus is gone Patchouli and/or vetiver smell burnt. Ylang ylang comes out and not in a good way. It lends a sickly sweetness to the whole mix. This is a very aggressive, masculine scent. I get an image of a man in full armour perpetrating some violence so I guess the name is apt. Patchouli and vetiver are both WAY too strong. And the burnt, overly sweet combined with it gives me a headache. I am so disappointed.

    Death on a Pale Horse

This scent is aptly named...it smells Pale. On of the reviews said it was glassy and transparent. That describes it too. Everything about this scent is soft. Soft florals, soft mint, soft citrus, and even soft patchouli and vetiver. It's as if the edge had been taken off all the notes before being blended together. Like when you cut the crust off of toast before eating it. I've decided to test out all the Come and See scents but honestly didn't expect to like this scent because of the geranium, calla lily, and white musk. Geranium and white musk are usually notes of death for me. I really love this. Its soft, unobtrusive, and doesn't demand your attention like some scents do. Because its not a distracting scent I'm wondering how this would work as a meditation oil.

    Dragon's Blood

I've tried a boat load of Dragon's Blood scents, mostly because Dragon's Blood is my go to oil for rituals. This is without a doubt the BEST DB out there. Its powerful and commanding the way a good DB should be. This one also has longevity and tons of throw. Super happy I bought a bottle of this.

    Uncle Travelling Matt

If Uncle Matt smells this way I want to go travelling with him. In the bottle this smelled like fruity candy. Wet, its figs dipped in chocolate. As this dries the fig dies down to almost nothing but now I'm getting quince and juicy pears. This is a strange scent because I'm getting something bubbly yet something creamy swirling around the fruit and chocolate. This is delicious I most certainly need a bottle or three.

Notes That Don't Work, Blends That Do

Roses either amp up ridiculously (to where I get a headache) or go soapy. Carnations go rancid. I mean it literally smells like they are rotting So....Maiden shouldn't work on me but it does. When I got the freebie from the lab, I almost swapped it without testing because I was 100% certain it wouldn't work. During a moment of boredom I went ahead and tested it and I'm glad I did. Both carnation and rose smell fresh and lovely in Maiden. Why can't all rose/carnation notes smell this way.

    Maiden

I was scared to try this when I first got a frimp from the lab. It's been sitting in a box for awhile until I decided to brave it. Florals in general - Carnation especially - go rancid or way too strong on me. Well, Maiden is different. In the bottle: Beautiful lush roses. Then again they usually smell nice until they meet my skin. Wet: I get more lovely roses and a bit of tea. Dry: As this started to dry the carnations came out and threatened to spoil everything. I started getting that same sharp, racid ickiness that I usually get from carnations. After a half hour though, carnations fall far into the background. What's left is a wonderful rose scent that doesn't go wonky. This scent is really pretty.

    Haute Macabre

In the bottle, this smells like walking into a Wilson's Leather store. At first the leather is really in your face but starts to tone down when almond and vanilla come out. It takes about an hour for the patchouli to make an appearance. When it does, it's a soft patchouli. If that makes any sense. So strange because this ends up smelling sweet and creamy coconut with earthy undertones. I love this scent. Wonder how it will age?

Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

So, I ordered some imps and made sure to include Shub-Niggurath. Can't wait to get my order I hope the GC scent works...it's cheaper and I know it will be available. Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions.

Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Sounds like Shub-Niggurath has the most votes. I like that it is GC and I can get an imp of it. I'll also be on the lookout for Gingerbread Poppet and Mother Ginger. I got hungry just reading the description for Mother Ginger. Sunshinedaisybliss - thanks for the additional forum ideas. I will be checking out the links. _________ So, thought I'd add an update in case anyone is interested in that Bedbug scent the way I am. After getting my imp of Shub I immediately applied it. Boy, there's ginger alright. But it wasn't quite right. It was missing honey. I rummaged around in my imp box and found O. I layered O with Shub and WOOHOO! Bedbugs, lots of them...on steroids. Thanks again everyone

Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

Recently, I got a frimp of Bedbugs which smells like ginger cookies. I absolutely adore it but it seems that I can't get a bottle of it. Anyone know of similar scents I can try?
  19. Atrous

    Bedbug

Smells like the Moravian ginger spice cookies I grew up with. Too bad it's only an imp. I'd buy a bottle.

    Olokun

In the imp: fresh, breezy, light Wet: Apparently, the gloom of the ocean floor smells like honeydew. Well, okay I like honeydew. Dry: Ooh! nice. The aquatic element is really coming out, a bit of ozone, and a nice ocean breeze. I can still smell the melon but it's buried underneath. This gets a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Not sure that it warrants a bottle. I'll have to test it again.

    A Sudden Invitation

Scent is not what I expected but boy, does it smell terrific! Smells like fresh honeysuckle which is nice because actual honeysuckle notes go rancid on my skin. Under the honeysuckle...cool and woodsy. Spring is just around the corner and this will be perfect for that time of year.

    The Chapel 2008

In the bottle: Mostly robust, well aged, dry wine. I can also smell incense. Wet: Wow the wine really amps up and it is indeed bitter. Dry: Wine calms down and lets the incense move in. They dance beautifully together. There is something metallic underneath and I detect the faintest amount of brimstone. This is one of those scents I've been looking for...sexy sinister. The darkest blend I've run across to date. If you're not into 'evil' blends stay away from the Chapel. As for me...I couldn move in.

    Othello

Irish Spring soap! A nice spring scent for a man but not for me. I am glad that the roses didn't get in my face the way they do with some many other rose scents.

    Tweedledee

In the Imp: Kumquat. Yum. Wet: A hybrid of Pebbles Cereal and orange sherbert. Still yum. Dry: Morphs quite a bit on my skin each stage of which is nice. Strong citrus notes that give way to a fruity tea scent then orange sherbert again. This finally settles down to where I can smell all the notes and I get a fruity, citrus tea with whiffs of pepper underneath. Sniffing this makes me want to break out my Bigelow Raspberry tea or maybe Celestial Seasonings Mandarine Spice.

    Saw-Scaled Viper

Oh boy is this one a slow morpher. Really hated this scent at first. Bitter and angry - the spices are all very dry and intense. Wet on my skin, my nose was going into convulsions. half hour later and still the same story. I was mystified. All the notes should work on me. I was going to scrub it off but before I could I had a errand to run. About 3 hours later I started getting spicy whiffs of snake oil and remembered that I still had SS Viper on my wrist. When I went to take a sniff...WOOHOO! It had changed into a really lovely blend. The spices mellowed out quite a bit. Glad I didn't scrub this one off as I was going to swap it. Not anymore. This one's a keeper.
