  1. This smells just like cherry pipe tobacco. Hints of woods and linen come out after it dries, but the tobacco still dominates. It's a little too sweet for me. I can tolerate sweetness in foody blends, but there's something about this that just isn't working on my skin. I'm glad I got to try a decant, but it will be finding a new home in the swap pile.

  2. OK, how does she get the smell of dusty rags into a bottle? This is not something I'd normally wear, but I'm still in awe of it just because it smells exactly like its description. It's masculine and woody and leathery and, yes, dusty.

I don't need a bottle, but I'll test the decant on my husband to see if he does.

  3. At first, all I can smell is the lemon verbena. Then, it turns slightly woodsy, and it ends up as all sandalwood and jasmine. I never caught a whiff of the bergamot, but the lemon verbena was probably edging it out. It's interesting but not really something I see myself wearing frequently, so I may end up swapping it.

  4. This was a surprise winner for me. Leave it to Beth to creat a stunning blend from notes I *know* I won't like! :P

I get a very smooth fruity herbal scent from this. It's not a big morpher, and the florals and vetiver behave themselves remarkably. It smells complex and actually a little bit sweet, although it might be said to have a bitter edge to it. It's beautiful, and I'm so glad that I got myself a bottle of this in addition to the one I got for my decant circle.

  5. I got to try this thanks to the fabulous moonarcana.

Three Brides is a gorgeous, feminine, sweet floral. I do smell some vanilla and citrus in there too, but it is mostly floral without being soapy or powdery. It's very delicate, and I'd have no problem wearing this anywhere at all. This decant will get some serious use and may need to be upgraded to a bottle sometime in the future.

  6. I'm getting two different scents from this. Close to my skin, it's all lime. Farther away, it's a floral musk with some pretty good throw. Very unusual and interesting. I'll be keeping the imp around to see if it grows on me.

  7. I didn't expect to like this at all, but I got it as a frimp and decided to try it. What a pleasant surprise! It's smoky and creamily floral and very complex. This would be a perfect going-out-at-night fragrance. I'll definitely be keeping this imp around--thanks Lab!!! :P

  8. This scent manages to be both chilly and warm at the same time, just as its description suggests. I smell mint, something aquatic, and something ozoney, but it's all balanced by the warmth of the amber. I was worried that the orris and violet would turn this too powdery on my skin, but instead, they just soften the mint and make it less harsh. This is so incredibly beautiful! My only complaint is that it doesn't last more than an hour or two, but that just means I'll need another bottle. :P :D :D

  9. This is very pretty and feminine. I smell flowers, but they don't turn soapy or powdery, and there's a hint of spice and sweetness too. It's not an herbal smell to me, but it is very fresh. The throw is pretty light.

This would be wonderful for spring or summer. I may need a bottle, and I'll definitely hang onto my imp!

  10. I smell mostly lily of the valley, very fresh and slightly green. The rose isn't turning it soapy, which is nice, but I wish I could detect the pear somewhere in this blend. It's very pretty, but I rarely reach for scents that are mostly floral, so I'll be passing it along.

  11. I love ginger and lily of the valley, so I had high hopes for Pele. Unfortunately, the scent is so faint on my skin, even after slathering, that I can barely smell it. I'm sure it's gorgeous if your skin doesn't eat it all up, but I'll be passing this one along.

  12. This starts out as dragon's blood and musk, and ends up as predominantly musk. It's sweet and sexy, and I agree that Snake Oil and Smut fans will probably appreciate this one. It turns just a little bit powdery on me, and there are quite a few musky BPALs that I like better than this one, but I need to test it on the DH before I completely write it off.

  13. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys soft, sweet, fruity scents but is of an age or mindset where smelling like a lollipop is kind of ridiculous.

I wholeheartedly agree with the above statement. A lot of fruity BPAL scents smell much too candyish on my skin, but this manages to be fruity, light, and playful while still smelling like perfume. There is something slightly herbal and powdery to it, which keeps the sweetness in check.

A surprise winner! I'll be keeping my imp and revisiting it in the spring, after my craving for spicy/foody scents has passed.
