  1. In the vial: Sweetness - sugar, tea, milk, and a hint of white pepper.

On me: I'm getting pretty much the same as in the vial, except the pepper note is much stronger. It doesn't detract from the creaminess of the blend - it adds uniqueness. This scent has pretty good staying power on me.

Verdict: Love this! So glad I bought a bottle.

    Rating: 5/5

  2. In the vial: Incense, vetiver, jasmine

On me: This scent is so well-blended when it hits my skin! The rose amps up on me a good deal, and I definitely smell patchouli, but it doesn't overpower everything as usual. It doesn't seem to have a tremendous amount of throw, but I really like it.

Verdict: This is definitely a keeper - the rose and incense make this a great blend.

    Rating: 5/5

  3. In the vial: Pine trees, greenery, earth.

On me: This is really lovely. It's a lighter version of Black Forest. The pine/fir is very light and the moss/greens/woods add an earthy spice.

Verdict: Definitely a keeper! The spiciness really makes this blend interesting!

  4. In the vial: Sharp lavender. Vetiver. Musk.

On me: This is pretty true to the vial scent, but the vetiver really takes over everything and sours up the lavender on me.

Verdict: If only there wasn't so much vetiver, this'd be just wonderful. Oh well. :P

  5. In the vial: Sandalwood and... florals?

On me: This is actually a really lovely, light scent. Now that I'm wearing it, I do smell each individual note that's listed - mandarin orange, mango, musk, and sandalwood. The sandalwood and mandarin orange are the predominant scents in this blend, to me. It's a very light scent, but I like it.

Verdict: I'm growing to like this a lot. This is something that I can wear to work without offending anyone, I think. I wish I had a bottle so I could slather it on hot summer days. Keeper!

  6. In the vial: Orange and floral.

On me: Mmmm, this is what I wished Xiuhtecuhtli would have smelled like. This is sweet orange, florals, and a drop of clove. What a great scent!

Verdict: Definitely keeping this. Should be nice for summer sniffing!

    Rating: 4/5

  7. In the vial: Mmm, almonds! Hints of spice. This reminds me of marzipan, one of my favorite sweets.

On me: This smells like soap. Almondy soap. Damn it!

Verdict: Well, this sucks. I was really looking forward to wearing this blend. Swaps/sale it is.

    Rating: 1/5

  8. In the vial: Spices! And a hint of vanilla.

On me: Hint of vanilla? No way - This is ALL spicy, glorious vanilla. This is one of the sexiest scents I've ever worn. I'm absolutely in love.

Verdict: Ordered a 5ml bottle! I adore this.

    Rating: 5/5

  9. In the vial: Super sweet. I smell honey and a splash of vanilla.

On me: Still extremely sweet. Slightly boozy. Definitely lots of honey and vanilla, which amps up a lot on my skin. The amber warms it nicely. A very, very sexy blend.

Verdict: Gorgeous. I'd like a bottle of this.

    Rating: 5/5

  10. In the vial: Myrrh.

On me: The myrrh and jasmine show up immediately, leaving me to wonder where the rose is. My first impression is that this is a nice, sensual scent - warm without being too dark. Unfortunately, a few hours later, this smells disgustingly rotten.

Verdict: Sold this to someone else! It was gross.

    Rating: 1/5

  11. In the vial: Light, lemony tea

On me: Wow - this is incredible. It's very sugary, milky tea, with just a hint of lemon. The lemon, fortunately, isn't enough to turn me away. This scent is absolutely beautiful.

    Verdict: Bottle, now!

    Rating: 5/5

  12. In the vial: Peach - or maybe that's pineapple.

On me: This is a very strange scent, but I like it. I definitely smell the fruit, but there's also a musk that cuts the juiciness, and something else that's sweet - that must be spikenard. This smells warm and sweet on my skin, almost like a sweetened skin musk. I like it.

Verdict: Unique, complex scent. Keeping the imp for sure, but I don't think I need a bottle.

    Rating: 3/5

  13. In the vial: This is sort of offensive. Vetiver over black myrrh.

On me: This scent is incredibly strong, it makes me want to back away. It's a very compelling scent.

Verdict: As much as this scent interests me, I don't think I can wear it. Sadly.

    Rating: 2/5

  14. Salvation found in darkness beyond darkness, the blessed sleep of nothingness. Dark musk, wood spice, labdanum, patchouli, dark African woods, and saffron.

In the vial: Soft, green, tiniest hint of spice. The oil is a greenish color - how interesting!

On me: Oon, this is a spicy/woody scent! There's something sharp in here, too - maybe that's the labdanum. The dark musk is prevalent, as is the saffron.

Verdict: I absolutely love this! I didn't realize that it was such a fantastic blend the first time I tried it, and now I think I might need to add it to my bottle wishlist. It's gorgeous!

    Rating: 5/5

  15. In the vial: Narcissus, tuberose, poppy

On me: This is a dark scent that has some bit of spice in it that I can't place. There's lots of floral and dewey greenery in here, too.

Verdict: I am unsure as to whether I actually like it, but there's so little left in my imp that I think I'll keep it anyway.

    Rating: 2/5

  16. In the vial: Florals!

On me: Rose! This smells so good! I am not sure if I smell the other flower, narcissus, though. This blend is beautiful on me!

Verdict: Keeper! I can't believe I didn't like this the first time I tried it.

    Rating: 4/5

  17. In the vial: Crisp, still air.

On me: It's incredible how the Lab has captured the scent of a real hurricane. It truly smells like the downed trees and oddly still air that occurs during the eye of a hurricane.

Verdict: Fantastic blend. I don't wear it very often, but I love it.

    Rating: 5/5

  18. In the vial: Amber, a bit of musk.

On me: Amber, and a LOT of black musk! This is a truly exotic, beautiful scent. It smells fantastic on me.

Verdict: A favorite! Will probably get around to buying a bottle someday, but for now, the imp is good enough. It's such a strong scent that I don't wear it too often.

    Rating: 5/5

  19. In the vial: Green.

On me: This is absolutely, pure green. It smells like plants. And musk. Green musk. And now, florals are coming out. Ooh, I like it!

Verdict: What an interesting blend. A keeper, though I probably won't wear it all the time.

    Rating: 3/5

  20. In the vial: Sweetness! Ginger and honey.

On me: Oh, this scent is absolutely wonderful! The ginger seriously pops on me, and combined with the other scents - milk and honey - smells like some kind of delicious tea. It's ever so slightly soapy, but still, I love this.

Verdict: This smells great! I think it'll be a cool summer scent. Not sure yet if it's bottle-worthy, though.

    Rating: 4/5

  21. In the vial: Rose, jasmine, coffee bean

On me: The rose really amps up on my skin, followed by jasmine and tonka. As it dries, the rose gets softer, the jasmine fades, the tonka stays warm and soft, and the coffee bean adds a bit of spice. This is such an exotic blend - the name Mata Hari truly fits it!

Verdict: This is one of the first BPAL scents that I ordered, and it is my favorite to this day. So glad I finally ordered a bottle!
