  1. I believe that is a bottle from "Squeaky Clean". Her bottles used to look like that or very close to it.

    Here's the link: Squeaky Clean

Here's the description: Deep, dark, and mysterious. Fans of Nag Champa will be sure to love it. Scented with exotic leaves, resins, woods, a touch of patchouli and the faintest suggestion of the smell of musty old books and incense. This one lasts and lasts, probably because of its base of patchouli and wood. Nag champa smoke blends with sandalwood and other delights.

Maybe you could email her the picture and ask her.

ETA: I've never bought any of her perfume, but I remember thinking that the idea of a rustic typeset label was unique. If it's not from Squeaky Clean, I hope you find out where it's from. That would drive me crazy too. :P

  2. This smells so good in the bottle. Apples, with a slight hint of orange....fresh and sweet, but not really in a total foody way....but after it's been on for a while the chow line droppings rise up and leave me with nothing but a very dirty, harsh smell. Sadly, all of the freshness in the bottle does not remain on my skin at all.

But, I think, for me, that Beth has captured the true essence of Pruno...stank and all. :P

  3. PRIVILEGE

Polished party-girl sleaze. This is a shameless scent, devoid of caution, regret, or introspection. This perfume reeks of tabloid glamour, and has no substance whatsoever. Armoise, tuberose, white citrus, rose absolute, oakmoss, tiare, tuberose, vanilla, linden, and lemon tree blossom.

Although this scent originated with fine plants and the pure essences, the final result is a grotesque, eerily empty caricature of a debauched, narcissistic would-be debutante.

This is more of a "classic" perfume scent to me ala the "glamour".

It's lightly floral and watery. It seems to float on my skin per the lack of substance, I assume.

This disappeared on me rather quickly.

Like the party girl this represents, this is a very nice, light floral that is appealing, but extremely fleeting in it's glory.

Great job capturing the fleeting feeling of beauty without substance.

  4. My husband loves this scent for sleeping...well...me wearing it for our mutual benefit... :P

The lavender is definitely there, but my favorite part is the next morning when I wake up and I smell like sweet, soft, fluffy, puffy marshmallows...not in your face sweet but a marshmallow hug! A big, warm hug! Gah...I love it and so does he. He's already made me buy 3 extra bottles, so we don't run out.

  5. Ok, the hardcore geek in me came out last night and I decided to code the database backend for my "simple html page".

    Well, this: http://www.claudia.ca/bpal.html

    has morphed into this:

    http://www.claudia.ca/cgi-bin/bpal.cgi?cat=tried

Perl with a MySQL backend, password protected add/update/delete function. I've kept it fairly simple for now, but included scent categories (LE, Excolo, etc) to allow for more specific sorting in future. If I've reviewed a scent, it links to a page displaying my review, and a link to the forum review on bpal.org.

This will make life soooo much easier for me!

ETA: damn. Shoulda added a date field.

I just had to post a picture of this as I'm so proud of it

I don't get on with Excel, I prefer databases. I don't have the MS Office database program, so I used the OpenOffice (a completely free suite) one.

Here is an image showing a day's solid work.

Just a thought if you don't like Excel! Although I do admire all the work people put into spreadsheets!

ETA: The database has all the GC collections plus the Carousel and Carnaval Diabolique. I've included LEs only if I have them myself - no use filling up disk space with the Lunacies as I never buy them

It needs updating actually, haven't put the last two updates in yet. Oh well, after exams...

I've been meaning to post this for quite some time. :D

Both of these databases are awesome! Nice work! I even went over to Open Office and started poking around. :D I haven't used a database in...well...forever, but you guys make them look very chic! :P

  6. Nattie does have the Liber Resh Helios: They're in with Excolo.

    I see them!

She put the "Liber..." part with the names and not the area. That's why I didn't find them when I alphabetized. I was looking for Ra, etc...

Thanks for pointing that out. :D

ETA: Just wanted to add...a big thank you to Nattie...for taking the time to update and even put together this massive spreadsheet! You rock! :P

  7. Well, I think you're missing The Salon category. That's 16 scents right there.

I would download Nattie's spreadsheet and save it under another name. Print it out and compare it to yours. If it's on your sheet, highlight it on her sheet. Then, everything not highlighted will need to be added or double checked.

Nattie's spreadsheet was missing the 4 Liber Resh Vel Helios scents when I downloaded it the other day, but you already have those so...no worries there...and that may have been fixed by now.

    Good luck! :P

ETA: Or, you could open both sheets side by side, add a column to Nattie's and "X" each one that you have, then sort her sheet by the "X" column, and copy/paste the relevant information of the ones without the "X" on her sheet into your sheet, if that makes sense.

  8. Imp: Sweet cherry fruity candy

Wet: Oh, my! Did I just put on a cherry lollipop?

Dry: After about 5 minutes, the cherry fades down and leaves a warm, spicy amber

After a couple of hours, still warm amber with a hint of powder.

Although it smells nice and I love the warm "idea" of amber, I don't know that I really like amber to wear.

Only time and many more reviews will tell. :P

  9. Violet soap in the vial.

    Violet soap on my skin.

Went to bed with it on one wrist and upon waking....the smell of my Grandmother when I was younger. More perfumey now, less of the clean, soap smell.

Not what I want to smell like, but I like the earlier (before going to bed) clean, fresh smell. Too much violet for me to wear, although it's a nice scent memory.

    Interesting...

I do not get any sense of coolness or iciness in this blend just fresh, clean violet soap from somewhere long ago.

  10. This scent takes me straight back to my Grandmother's porch and her wonderful smelling tea roses. Man those smelled so good.

I do not usually wear florals. For the most part, I prefer to smell actual flowers rather than try to smell like a flower.

But, I want to try everything I can to better understand the BPAL notes and my likes/dislikes of them.

I would not wear this I don't think, but I may use it as a room scent from time to time or for a relaxing bath or just a warm, fuzzy trip down memory lane.

    Here's to good memories. :P

    Rating: 4/5

  11. Ok, yesterday, I'm thinking...here's one for my husband...Put it on him...whoa...what stinks! :D

He couldn't wash it off fast enough! And, I quote, " What the **ll is that? Dirty poo diapers? Did you not smell that before you put it on me?"

Of course, I did. It smelled musky, but not like that...man...now he's a little more leary of putting anything on.

I put some on next and although lighter in the "stank" department. The "poo" odor was still there. I was so surprised that in the imp it smelled so much different.

I smelled it again today, and I have to say that now I can smell it ever so slightly even in the imp. Yuck! Even just in a bit on a piece of paper.

In reading through the other reviews, I guess this is the civet. I will have to be on the lookout for that in the future to see if that is actually what is causing the "off" odors. One of the reasons that I have been accumulating a lot of imps is just for figuring out what notes don't work, so I will have a better idea in the future as new stuff comes out as to whether it will work or I will like it enough to buy it.

I am intrigued by the reviews that I have read that love it. I wish it were possible to trade noses and sniff what they sniff.

This the first BPAL I've tried that I absolutely do not like.

Rating: 0/5, do NOT open this bottle ever again! :P
