    Doc Constantine (2006)

In the imp: Piney but not über pine. The other notes are noticeable, which for me is a bit different, usually the evergreen scents knock out anything else in a blend. This is nice. On the wrist: Clean, fresh and mildly antiseptic smelling. Sharp but not overwhelmingly so, leather lurking in the background. Drydown: Hmm, the musk and fir have ganged up on the other notes and turned this into a sharp, acrid, burn the nose powdery scent. I can still barely smell the leather. Overall: This would be a wonderful scent for someone who can do musks and loves the evergreen scents the lab makes.

    Ophelia

In the imp: Very aggressive floral perfume. Yikes. On the wrist: Wow, this is... very aggressive. I'm not even getting floral at this point, it's just screaming PERFUME!!! at me. Drydown: Not getting any better. Overall: Not at all for me, had to wash it off, scrubbed repeatedly with soap, rubbing alcohol, more soap, and I still had to hold my wrist away from me all night, not cool.

    The Mock Turtle's Lessons

In the imp: Fresh and clean aquatic scent, not getting any specific notes here, just fresh and clean-ness. On the wrist: Hmm, interesting. Still not much on individual notes, still very clean and aquatic. Nice and fresh. Drydown: Well this has apparently taken a wrong turn somewhere, it never really morphed much...until it morphed into shaving cream. I'm not sure where that comes from, but there you have it. Shaving cream. *sigh*

    Manhattan

In the imp: Tea, lemon.... and... no, just tea and lemon. On the wrist: This smells a lot like F5 layered with Severin, nice! Drydown: The orchid is starting to peek out now. The longer this sits on my skin the more it changes form lemony tea to orchid and musk. The amber starts to come out around the 15 minute mark. Which makes it an amber musk. Make that amber, orchid musk. Possibly getting a bit of wood in this, or incense. A wood or incense note is lurking in this. (Teak, kush, I dunno.) At around the half hour mark this turned into powder on me. Probably because of the musk, or possibly because of the amber, teak or kush. Or a combination of them. Overall: Another big morpher, the citrus notes do not last, and the end result of this is the thicker heavier notes; orchid, amber, and musk with a little bit of the citrus that was there in the beginning, just to let you know that it hasn't forgotten it's roots. I never got mint from this and never a note that I could definitively identify as kush or teak.

    Desdemona

In the imp: My first thought upon smelling this in the imp was "floral like whoa". FWIW. This is sharper than I was expecting. Clean, pretty and pink. On the wrist: There is something in this that reminds of the pink shaving gel/foam stuff I used to use... Skintimate something. Drydown: I can't shake the feeling that this smells like Skintimate shave gel but sharper and less fake. The longer it's on the sharper it gets, which isn't helping. Swaps.

    Grandmother of Ghosts

In the imp: Musky herbal Uh oh. I'm getting a lot of musk from this. On the wrist: Nearly non existent. I get a slight bit of musk and possibly lily, but this is very faint. Starting to get a little stronger, and a bit of the wood comes out. Still primarily musk. As it starts to dry the scent becomes more present and I can get notes without having to fight to smell it. I'm getting lily, peony, a bit of mandarin and musk. The peony is gone almost as quickly as it arrived, taken over by the lily. I briefly got pepper, but only for a couple of seconds. Drydown: Going peony musk now. Now the peony is gone again and lily has taken over, making this lily musk. Very much a floral musk at this point. Mostly lily, but a little tinge of peony. Lost all the other notes. Overall: Big time morpher, not much throw, not much staying power. Too much musk and lily for me, but would be wonderful on someone whose chemistry plays well with those notes. I also think that it will amp whatever notes your chemistry likes to amp and lose the others, so bear that in mind with this blend.

    Kiyohime Changes From a Serpent

In the imp: Fruity, aquatic and green. Beautiful. On the wrist: This is a very fruity and clean scent, so far the aquatic note is doing ok this time. The musk comes through pretty strong as it starts to dry though. Drydown: Lots of musk. That clean fruity smell is being overwhelmed by musk, which seems like just the sort of thing my chemistry would do to me. The fruit is putting up a good fight though, trying to defeat my body's natural urge to amp musk. Alas, musk wins it would seem.

    The Lantern Ghost of Oiwa

In the imp: Thick and sweet, think I am getting the lily and cherry blossom most. On the wrist: Tea and woods now, with the lily still present. Not so much the cherry blossom however, seem to have lost that. A clean note. Barely mint. Drydown: The lily keeps this a thick scent (the ho wood could be contributing there as well), heavier than I would like. After about 20 minutes this starts to smell like lilies and mint. Minted lily, lilimint. You get the idea. Lilies and mint. New, interesting, not necessarily me. Not a fan of lilies or mint, I was hoping for this to turn into cherry blossom and tea on me.

    Sybaris

In the imp: Violets! I love violet! Oh and something... incense. Bugger, here's hoping. On the wrist: Very little violet, something incense-ish. But wait! Violet is trying to make a comeback! Fight violets, fight! The violets are currently putting up a pretty good fight against this... I don't know what this is, but I can tell it's an incense note, so at the moment this smells like violets having an argument with something bitter and yicky. Drydown: Still violets fighting with something bitter and yicky. I wonder if it will ever settle? Ah well, we shall have to see. At this point it is more bitter and yicky than violets, but the violets are definitely still there.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

In the imp: Olives and oranges. Interesting. On the wrist: Sour orange type smell with green olives. Very strange. Wait, now it smells like peaches. WTH? This is a very distinct peach smell. No more olives nor oranges. Peaches, peaches, peaches. Possibly bubble gum and mangoes. Now all of that with boxwood. Now sharp and cloying. Starting to get a hint of frankincense in this. Drydown: Powder. The frankincense killed all the strange fruits. Killed them dead. After awhile the powder gets very sharp and evil. Overall: This one was a big morpher on me and smelled like tropical fruits most of the time, but in the end the frankincense killed it. Made it sharp and pointy and then powdery.

    Obatala

In the imp: Coconut and soured milk. Yick! Definitely smells like my milk note curdled! On the wrist: A little more coconut... a little less soured milk... Something perfumey? Drydown: Pointy, perfumey yicky sour coconut. Blech. Eric just came and smelled me and said "I smell a hint of McDonald's french fries in that". *sniff* He's right. I think it's pretty safe to say that this one does not work on me.

    Oberon

In the imp: Ok, that's odd I just got a note that reminded me of Embalming Fluid, that can't be right. Hmm, I think the bergamont and the white musk are trying to confuse my poor nose. On the wrist: Ok, no more Embalming Fluid. Now this smells like something familiar that I can't quite name.... It's nice, not me, but nice. I'm not really getting individual notes in this though.... Drydown: Old Spice! This smells sort of like Old Spice to me. Which is cool, but not for me. It didn't work on the boy at all and it just doesn't suit me, but it is very nice! It also got a bit powdery on me towards the end, but that's because musk doesn't like me much. Overall: Nice, clean and slightly masculine scent that might go wonky if you have issues with musk, reminiscent of Old Spice (though not so much like it that you can't smell the difference). I never really got patchouli out of this nor was I really able to make out single notes, but I'm not very good at that anyway.

    Poisoned Apple

In the imp: Apples! Lovely apples with an undercurrent of something sinister. I hope it's not too sinister. On the wrist: Yay apples! Ooh this is so nice. This may be the perfect apple scent I have been searching for! Drydown: This turned pointy and powdery! Oh the injustice! *wail* Overall: This scent has broken my heart, so I am going to be a vindictive bitch and swap it. (Or you could say I am being kind and sending it off to be with someone who loves it, I'm just consoling myself with the vindictive bitch thing.)

    Herbert West

In the imp: Embalming Fluid. On the wrist: Embalming Fluid +1. Drydown: Embalming fluid, but mellower, with an aftershave note. Overall: I really enjoy this one, but I think I will finish off my imp of Embalming Fluid and swap this. When my Embalming Fluid is gone, I will replace it with this.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

In the imp: Thick heavy florals, sweet and heady. On the wrist: Pretty much the same as in the imp, this is a very sweet, creamy floral blend on my skin. Nice, but not really me. Drydown: Uh-oh, my skin found that incense note and ran with it. This turned into that headache inducing powdery scent that my skin loves to create.

    The Hanging Gardens

In the imp: This is too busy for me to pick out any one note, but I'm getting something spicy. Wth? On the wrist: Wow, this is so hard to pick notes out of... it's just a jumble of scents all tumbled together.... Drydown: There's that spicy note really pulling through big time and then powder. Really spicy powder. Does this have cinnamon in it? Overall: This didn't work for me at all, from imp to drydown this never once appealed. Damn, I was really hoping I would love this one.

    Cobra Lily

In the imp: This has a green something in it... Like flowers freshly cut, but it's barely noticeable. Mostly, I smell floral notes, very sweet. On the wrist: This is a very sweet, cloying scent, instantly upon application it bursts into heavy floral dragon's blood. Very thick on me, but that's probably because dragon's blood hates me. Drydown: Lilies and dragon's blood, no fruit notes, no more green note. Overall: I swapped for this before I realized I'm a huge not fan of lily, but I've resolved to try every oil that comes my way, so I gave it a shot. This is not a me smell at all, too sweet. I would recommend this one to dragon's blood and lily fans and anyone who likes a thick heavy floral.

    The Red Queen

Hmm, well let me preface this by saying I was taking a chance with this one, woods just don't work on me but I was holding out hope.... In the imp: Something both astringent and musty. That's... odd. I can't pick out specific notes here, but I am getting a wood with fruit aura from this. On the wrist: Ok, I know this is going to sound strange, but this smells like freshly washed rat. I used to have a rat named Rasputina who smelled just like this after a bath. Odd. Seriously, buy a rat and wash it, it smells just like this. Well, almost, rats are a little less medicinal smelling. A little more musty. Drydown: This is not working on me, aside from the reminiscent qualities (I miss Rasputina!) this smell is just not doing it for me. Swaps.

    Sunrise With Sea-Monsters

In the imp: Mmm, this smells wonderful but I know this isn't going to work. In the imp I get pear, sweet and fruity ocean breeze.... On the wrist: Yep, pear and light florals, this is wonderful... but it's not going to work... Drydown: Yep, not working. Osmanthus, amber and ambergris doomed this from the start for me, alas. Powder. To the swaps.

    Selkie

In the imp: Fresh, sweet and watery scent. Almost melony. On the wrist: Something in here wants to go straight to dryer sheet on me. Drydown: I'm having a hard time getting specific notes with this, but it's about half dryer sheet half something else right now. ...I think I'll have to pass it on.

    Taurus 2007

As a Taurus I just had to try this one, but the notes... well I love violet and apple blossom but rose and mint never work, and I was unsure of the other notes.... In the imp: Hmm, sweet light floral. Getting the violet and rose the most. On the wrist: Violets! Luckily not getting the mint or thyme thus far. Maybe this will work. Drydown: YIKES! This turned... very strong and in yo' face. It kept the violet note but something else in it amped up to the point where it gave me a crashing headache. Not so good. Teh swapzors.

    Mad Sweeney

In the imp: Oh. My. God. Do not do that. In the imp this is pure undiluted booze, like sniffing a bottle of whiskey. It burns. It really burns. Ow. On the wrist: Still with the burning at first, it burns so much I can't actually smell anything, holy yikes. But, after a couple of minutes, this starts to mellow, a little bit at a time.... the smell is starting to peek out... Drydown: Wow, this is fantastic, and the biggest morph ever. It mellows into this creamy hazelnut coffee, pure whiskey, expensive gorgeous whiskey. I never thought whiskey could smell so lovely! I certainly didn't expect this from the "scent" (oh the pain...) I was getting in the imp. It's so smoky and beautiful! Overall: This is a great smell, just don't sniff the imp, don't sniff your wrist in the first few minutes and don't drive because you do not want to get pulled over smelling like this. Initially, I thought I would swap this, but now... I think I'll keep it.

    Kumari Kandam

In the imp: Hmm, something very clean, reminiscent of Neo-Tokyo. With, something else, floral? This one is very tough to pick notes from, so I will just stick with saying that the overall impression I get is "clean". On the wrist: Hmm, this definitely shares something with Neo-Tokyo, I can only assume it's the aquatic note. This gets very bath product on me for awhile, a nice freshly showered scent. Drydown: Something thick and sweet has emerged (I was totally not expecting that). I'm surprised such a bold scent could hide behind that clean smell! This must be an incense note, because it's getting powdery... Overall: This scent is very unique and nigh impossible to review! I'll leave it to those more talented. Alas, because of what I think must be an incense note this didn't play nice and I'm sending it to the swaps.

    Cathode

Let me preface this by saying I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking when I decided to get this, almost none of the notes play nice with my skin. In the imp: Sharp mint, spearmint I think. On the wrist: Briefly the same as in the imp, and then powdery. Dry: Powder, minty talcum powder. I have no idea what made me think this would work on my skin.

    Baneberry

In the imp: Berries, but not just berry. Something dark green and herbal. Poisonous. On the wrist: Hmm, this does not smell like the traditional berry scent on me at all, it's much more of a full scent, not the usual thin strident note I get with berry. More plant like. I like this. Drydown: Alas, while it may not be the same berry it is still apparently berry enough to get very sharp and give me a crashing headache. If berry notes worked on my skin this would have been awesome. Damn. Off to the swaps.
