    Desert scents, including Southwestern scents

If you like the thought of coyote but are afraid of the musk, I'll second the Lion. It's the dry plains without the musk. I love it. Tombstone is dry cedar and vanilla on me. I really like it. I want to wear it when I watch Deadwood Also, if you like sage, Aeval was all sage on me. Corazon is a nice sage scent too. Tarot: Strength is also a nice pure sweetgrass smell.

    Tulzscha

I was a bit scared about getting this based on the previous reviews that said it was all mint. Well, it is, at first. But, it's a fresh real mint scent...there's nothing gummy about this mint. It actually reminds me more of Spooky than Frost Moon. Spooky was all mint when I had it. About 30 mins in, the cucumber starts to make an appearance and the mint decides to step back into the essemble and not steal the show. At first, I thought it was all mint, but as it progressed, I realized that the pepper was always there. It creates a really nice dark bite to the mint. The cucumber is soft, understated and wet. This one is heavenly! I wish I had gotten the madness pack since every SiA I have tried has been so lovely and perfect.

    Arkham

Oh, my lord! This is one of the most beautiful scents BPAL has ever shared with me! Right out of the bottle, it has a holiday spiciness to it. It goes on warm and slightly sweet, but not sickly sweet. It has more of an Alice type of sweetness to it. It feels like a billowy cloud infused with understated and creamy florals whipped around a soft woodsy center. I can't really make out any of the particular woodsy or floral notes in this. They are packed and blended so well together that they are simply one with each other. It isn't soapy, cloying, dry, candy sweet, piney (the woods are barely noticeable really), etc. It makes me feel happy and warm and beautiful. The first thing I thought when I sniffed this was, that it smells like Skadi a bit. To me, it's Skadi's summer sister. I this one.

    Breezy/Outdoorsy Scents

Leanan Sidhe swept me away to rolling hills frosted with mist. It was lovely.
  6. The World Silk Road (fit your subject exactly imo)...for a more kitcheny herb/spice Ides of March...for a fresh from the plant herby scent

What do bottles and labels look like?

Is anyone wondering what the Mi-Go label will look like? You know it's going to be totally awesome.
  9. I think this is the type of job the Panacea are good for. Maybe Succor, Quietude, or even Moxie depending on what aspect of studying you have problems with. Generally, I wouldn't recommend anything too astringent or tart. Something warm and subtle is what I'd want.

    Discussion of all things Amber

Well, the obvious one is The Lion which is pure amber heaven. I'm wearing Brisingamen now, and it's definitely ambery, but it also has a floraly note to it.

    Hell's Belle

Oh wow! Out of the bottle this smells similar to Hollywood Babylon to me. It has the same sweet, incensy quality to it. Wet: OMG! I love this! It actually smells like sweet musky sandalwood to me. It has a creamy, spicey, woody texture to it. Dry: This gets a bit more musky and I lost a little bit of the sweet woody notes a bit. But, after about an hour on, it dries to a really nice sweet musky blend, more similar to it's wet stage. Sometimes when I sniff it, I get a clovey tobacco smell. It isn't the leaves, but the smell of the smoke itself. Verdict: Wow, Hell's Belle has reminded me of my true scent love. I've been led astray a bit with the warm weather and lighter scents. This is smokey, warm, spicey and very sexual. I'm definitely going to need a bottle of this for the fall.

    Havisham

I knew this was going to be a heady floral, so I wasn't expecting on liking it. But...don't underestimate Beth's LEs. There's a reason they are special. Havisham doesn't make my nose itch! It's like all those beautiful white florals in all their glory, without all the headaches and nose itches and other unpleasantries that come with them. Because of the florals, it does get soapy, but it's creamy, expensive soap. In f54 you could definitely tell that you were sniffing quality shit. Havisham's the same deal to me. Interesting...the drydown smells just like Rose Red. There's definitely rose in this, which always takes over on my skin. Overall, Havisham smells like an expensive bouquet of florals in the refridgerator...seriously I know that doesn't sound glamorous, but there is definitely a hint of coldness in this. It's not frozen, just chilled.
  13. I don't think Arachne is like Hunter Moon at all. It's more floraly.

Leanan Sidhe is such a nice springtime blend.

    The Ides of March 2005

In the bottle, Ides of March is fresh and green. It's very light and pleasant. Lurking at the very bottom is am almost spearmint note, which I assume is the rosemary Wet: This is what I had wanted Frost Moon to be. It's sweet minty rosemary with a touch of foody spice in the background. I'm getting that undercurrent of wheat that I actually think is the cardomom. In this stage Ides of very bright and fresh, but subtle. It didn't attack my nose and isn't tart or astringent. Dry: The rosemary has faded a bit and I'm left with something quite similar to silk road but with a layer of flowers and the undercurrent of rosemary. Cardamom must like my skin. I like both the wet and dry stages of this. Wet, it's more minty, dry more spicey. When I first put it on, my impression of it was "expensive men's shaving cream." But, I really do think Ides of March is something both sexes can wear. I really like this one!
  16. Hmm... Endymion reminds me of Rose Red. Put into context, my skin amps up rose so Endymion is rose with some lush green things in the background.

    Sandalwood Scents

I get a really nice sandalwood from Tushnamatay. Am I crazy?

    Nefertiti

In the bottle Nefertiti smells a bit green and herbal. Wet, the spices really pop right along with the iris. It sort of smell like a cardamom or another foody spice similar to the ones in Silk Road. It's actually a neat combination with the iris. As it dries, Nefertiti turns a bit perfumey soap on me. The sandalwood is starting to show it's head just a tad. It lends more to the earthy feel than actually smelling like sandalwood. This one is weird because for 10 minutes it will be soapy, and then the spices will kick in and create a really nice musky floral...and then it will swtich and do it all over again. I really do like Nefertiti but am still debating if it is something I would personally wear. It smells exotic and beautiful. It's the type of floral I like because it's surrounded by really great complimentary notes like the spices.

    "Warm" scents?

I'll add the lion as well.
  20. I just discovered Tarot: Justice and I think it would be a perfect summer scent

    Zephyr

In the bottle this is very tart and citrusy. It hit me high in the nose. Wet, it's a bit more subtle, but all I can really detect is the lemon. Up close it's nice, sweet lemon. Far away, it smells like bug repellent. As it dries, the soft florals and musks pop out, almost surpassing the lemon note, but not quite. The vanilla is there but very faint. I catch only glimpses of it from time to time. It starts to get a bit soapy as time goes on, but the musks prevent it from going too far into that territory. Zephyr is a lovely, light blend that get's softer with wear. Now, most of the lemon has disappeared and the rest of the notes remain. I'm torn as I love this phase, but the beginning phase is a bit too sharp for me.

    Ace of Wands

Hmmm... In the vial it smells like tart dragon's blood. Wet: This is weird. I definitely smell dragon's blood, but there's also this sour, bitter note there that doesn't seem quite right. I recognize it but can't place it. Oh, now that I read Penance's review, it does smell herbal...like fresh thyme or lemongrass, maybe basil. Something with a bit of tartness. Dry: That note is starting to go away, but I can still smell it in the background. Now I am detecting a musk in there of medium build accompanying the dragon's blood. The herbal note is morphing a bit and I can smell sweet sage somewhere in the depths of this blend. Ah, this is much more pleasant! It gets softer and softer as time goes on...and I like it better and better at each stage. It seems like chemistry is going to dictate what note is amped on your skin.

    Justice

Justice initially smells citrusy with a hint of ozone/aquatic. As it dries, I'm getting a faint moss, and a subtle amber laced with ozone and maybe green tea or ginger (I think these are the cause of the citrus I am smelling). It's a tart scent, bright and ready to face the day. It's light yellow-green scent to me. Sea of Glass actually reminds me of a way more amped up Justice. Neo-Tokyo is another comparison, though Justice is more subdued. I also see some similarities between this and the Hermit. Creepy because they were both important cards for me last year. Dry, the sweetness has faded and it's a nice, subtle green scent. It's perfect for a lounging summer day.

    Swank

Wow, this is tart pomegranate juice with a hint of sparkling wine. It actually reminds me of my mom's christmas potpourri a bit. It's sweet and incredibly juicy. I don't know if I'll wear this but it's dying to be applied somewhere.

    The Lion

Wow, I was expecting something much more rich and in-my-nose. Out of the vial this is to die for! My boy said it smelled liked flowers like he always says. I said it smelled like yummy cinnamon. Wet, this is really subtle. I get a tiny bit of cinnamon over the faintest hint of amber, over the faintest hint if skin. I'm straining to smell this. As it dries, the cinnamon lays low a bit and a wheaty smell comes out as well as the amber. Mmm, it smells like wheat doh a bit. The Lion isn't as dry as I imagined it would be after detecting this wheat note. It's still warm, and a bit creamy. This is much better than expected! Yay me!
