  1. ... when people then email me and tell me they didn't get them. This is particularly plaguing orders I send to apartment buildings.

I have a condo, but I have that generic condo/apt style mailbox. My last BPAL package fit inside my mailbox. I always get worried about packages being left at my front door...I was very relieved when my last BPAL shipment was inside the box!!

But I'd be fine with signing anyway...my PO is up the street and relatively efficient.

  2. Honestly, I just assumed the insurance was included in BPAL rates. I just paid $8.50 for shipping. The actual postage was $3.85 I think...I figured maybe $.45 for delivery confirmation, $2.20 for insurance, $1-2 handing fee.

You all are going to hate me for saying this, but I can't pay $10 shipping on a small, light package under 1lb. I do a lot of online shopping and it just doesn't sit well with me.

There are so many companies out there that inflate their shipping rates. I'm NOT saying Black Phoenix is one of them. It's just something I see a lot. Especially on Ebay. LUSH's shipping is rediculous. I would rather see companies charge what they need to for their products and charge actual shipping...instead of giving some "deal" on a product and inflating the shipping costs.

I am in no way pointing fingers at anyone...Just my $.02 about shipping and the web. Sorry about going off on that tangent!

  3. Name: Amy aka Dark Cello

URL: http://www.biglizardmedia.com (I used this when applying for jobs. It hasn’t been updated in years.)

Photo: Me and my shadow. http://www.biglizardmedia.com/images2/dark_cello.jpg

    Sin of choice: Wrath

Virtue you embody: Truth—I am as real as I can be and I don’t try to portray myself as something that I am not.

    Astrological Info: Capricorn (1/7/75 6:50am)

How you found out about BPAL: I honestly don’t remember but I found them in January of 2003. I was probably surfing the web looking for clovey perfumes.

Any comments you'd like to add about the Lab or life in general:

About the Lab: The Lab is fantastic. I can’t give them enough props for their hard work and creativity. They make a customer feel like a friend or family member—instead of just a “billing name and invoice number”. Thanks Beth and crew for being so genuine.

About life in general: It’s better to try and fail than never try at all.

  4. The option was always there and I always activated it, but it didn't seem to work until recently. =P

Well, I think its working at least. =/

I don't think it is. I never got an email in the past or recently. And I got my shipment today.

    Very pleasant surprise!!

Just curious: Elizabeth, are you shipping from a different PO? What the hell happened with all of those orders?!?!? Inquiring minds want to know!

  5. I feel guilty asking them to correct the info. =/ I mean, they were so kind to write the article to begin with, and the blurb is so sweet -- but I'm stressed that people are going to ask for the samples at the magazine's published rate. We're losing money like crazy as it is, and I can't afford to discount the sample sets because of the typo.

    Stressing.

Go ahead and send them a little email about the $16/6 error.

I don't think anyone would hold you to that rate anyhow. It's not a mistake on YOUR website. It's a 3rd party typo.

    Don't stress! :P

  6. I'm not sure how much work (or site space) is involved in putting these avs up, but it would be awesome to have bpal ones specifically, for some of the most popular scents.  I'd be happy to volunteer myself to make them.  I normally make all my own AVs but for some reason, everytime I try to, I get errors all over the place.  I just love the names and imagery of some of the scents, they'd make the images themselves.  The only hard part would be limiting which scents to make!

I totally dig that idea!!! :P I might go make a few for my fav scents and see how they look.

  7. Ah the huge ass order. I have not made one of these yet (just put an order for 2 sets of Imps ears) but whenever the V-day scents arrive I'll be buying them as well as a nice 5 ML of Canivale, Unseelie, Snake Oil and whatever else strikes my fancy.

This place is feeling more and more like a support group for addicts!! "Hi, my name is Amy, and I'm a BPAL addict."

    OH MY!!

  8. Elizabeth said on the bust forums that one of the ingredients for hellfire is no longer available so the scent has been discontinued. :P

Hmmm, I wonder what the ingredient is.

I have a sample of it...I quite like it.

Anywho, I just put in a huge ass order. I narrowed my list to 18 samples and (2) 5ml bottles.

I just keep telling myself that I'm making up for all of the years when I couldn't find perfumes that I liked.

So really, with my twisted way of rationalizing my purchases, it only costs me several cents a day. (I almost broke into a Sally Struthers spoof....but I'll save you all the pain.)

    I eagerly, but patiently, await.

  9. Well, it's 2am, and the site update [Phase I] is finally finished. I still need to do a TON of things, but I haven't any more energy or brain-juice left with which to work.

Oh goodness dear....Good thing I just got paid.

Beth, you are going to get nailed with orders this week. Take plenty of vitamins!!

  10. Both of these scents sound similar and I need help choosing please  :P

There are some factors that may help me decide..

The potential booziness of Hellcat is very intruiging for me but a major no no is a prominent almond note.

So, which one seems the booziest but less almondly of the two???

Old Port Au Prince is quite almondy. I have a 5ml bottle. It makes me smell like an almond cookie.

  11. when ever i feel sick to my tummy mint type oils are the only things i can wear... and i swear it makes me feel a lil better...  btw are there any BPAL oils that smell primarily minty?

I don't know if Nero has any mint in it...but my sample smells a little like Vicks Vaporub. I'm wearing it today actually. I love wearing it to bed...helps me drift off to sleep. (NERO: Rosemary, bay, pine and a touch of lemon.)
