  1. I have been wearing Juke Joint non-stop since I got it. I love it.

It starts out with a minty alcohol smell, although I don't get the sweetness of the bourbon and sugar. There's something else initially upon applying that I can't pinpoint. Sometimes I think it's lime. And sometimes I think it's anise.

Once it starts to dry, it starts to turn very smokey. It does get musty and slightly powdery on me. But not so much that I can't wear it. It's really on the brink of being a scent that is too powdery to wear. I think the musty, smoke smell is keeping the powder in check.

It fades very quickly so I might have to start carrying the bottle with me to reapply throughout the day.

....it also makes me think of Juke Joint Jezebel. :P

  2. Oh how I love this scent. Why? Because it smells similar to Samhain (without the pumpkin n spice)

Mine doesn't smell cherry-ish at all.

It has a strong apple, spice, cinnamon scent right out of the bottle. And then dries more powdery and flowery. I can't determine which flower though....

It does give me that summer-just-turning-to-autumn vibe.

    :P

  3. I placed an order on 5/15 via Paypal and haven't heard anything. I emailed last week asking if they at least received my order. I haven't gotten a response.

Brian mentioned the other day about re-printing some Paypal orders. I don't know if one of those is mine...I'm not sure what "re-printing a Paypal order" actually means. Were they originally overlooked?

So I just wait... I know eventually it'll show up... :P

  4. Well, I tried to reply before and the Page Not Found demon ate it. So here goes again...

Diana, is there any way you could put our locations under our avatars? I know I can drill down into a profile but....I don't want to! :P

If I'm being a pain, just whack me!! :D :D

  5. i really don't consider any of that to be bad news...  i love your oils enough to weather a price increase, and, hey, you gotta live, too, right?  and that takes money. :D

sooooo, i just hope you get your shipping/email snafu sorted out!

oh, and screw ccnow - i thought they looked shady from day one...  paypal is international, and a breeze for consumers to use.  good choice!

    I agree! :P

It's all good! And I'm tickled about some of the new scents...

  6. *Bump* 'cause I'm ready to place an order and would prefer PayPal if it gets more money to Elizabeth.

Do I send the money to blackphoenix@blackphoenixalchemylab.com?

    Per the website:

    "Can I pay by PayPal?

We want your money, so we’re trying to make it as easy as possible for you to fork it over. Please remit all PayPal payments to:

    cupcake@papow.com"

It's still their Paypal user ID. You just can't use the papow.com addresses for emailing them.

  7. Certain oils give me really bad sinus headaches...unfortunately, I have yet to isolate exactly which ones they are, though. There are also a few oils that I cannot wear because they affect my skin adversly...cinnamon being the main one.

Voodoo gives me pretty bad headaches but I wear it anyway. :P I'm not sure which single note is causing the headaches.

I can't wear cinnamon oils either. I put on Inferno and it was actually torture. I looked like I had burns on my wrists and neck. I learned my lesson--I do spot tests before slathering an oil all over my body.

I've been taking strong antibiotics on an empty stomach for about a week now. They make me so nauseated that I can't tolerate smelling any of the oils except citrus-y ones. I'm ok with Jabberwocky. That's about it.

  8. Everytime I put on Voodoo, I feel like I'm stepping into a voodoo shop in New Orleans. The combo of patchouli, vanilla, almond, and pine floods me with memories of the oils, incense and damp wood of those little shops in the Quarter.

It gets a little powdery after a few hours so I just reapply more. :P

    I love this one...just fabulous!

  9. You know I actually have the reverse problem. UPS is very reliable and always comes to the door, knocks and hand delivers my packages.  FedEx on the other hand hardly ever knocks and just throws my packages behind the bushes in front of my house.

    Same for me.

UPS always requires a signature from me--which I like because they will make 3 attempts. I usually miss the guy on the first day and then leave work early the second day and wait for him.

FedEx will leave anything at my door. I was not happy to find my DDR RAM from Crucial sitting at the door! I think FedEx also drives over packages with their trucks--whatever I get is usually broken or mangled! :P

On a side note, my UPS guy is pretty hot so I look forward to seeing him. :D
