    Snake Oil

By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla. Powdered sugar, bourbon vanilla (the smoky note), and unknown spices. A great combination, as I fall into the categories of "edible" and "exotic" at the same time when wearing this one. Everyone in the office knows how I love things that smell good, and they often ask for samples of what I'm wearing - but this is the first time that every one of my co-workers wanted to try the same scent!

    Eve

I usually have issues with ylang-ylang, but I didn't in Eve. A light, sweet rose balanced out beautifully with a touch of honey and ylang-ylang to end up as something that I really liked. The scent seems to retain an innocence of sorts. This is the kind of scent I can see buying for my daughter about the time she turns 16. (Of course, if she's truly my child, she will have been a perfume addict for years at that point; we already have to put perfume on her tummy in the morning when I put mine on, and she's only two! )

    Tempest

I can't make up my mind about Tempest; I'm obviously going to have to try it a few more times. Sometimes it smells to me like laundry detergent with a light white floral, and sometimes it's just clear, flowing, crispness. The crispness is a wonderful thing. The jury is still out, however, on the white floral/laundry detergent possibility. I'll have to come back to this one and update when I make up my mind.

    Black Phoenix

I finally got around to this one. I'm not sure what took me so long, because almost all the reviews have been good. There are only a few scents I don't get along with. Ylang-ylang, clove, and ... yup, almond. The only thing I can smell in this one, unfortunately, is sickly-sweet almond (it's the only way I have to describe it, because that's what it always does on me ... sigh) and it cranked itself up about six notches after I put it on.
  5. I'm in Oklahoma, where the humidity never seems to drop below 80%. I've got a new list of summer scents, and some of these might work for the trips to New Orleans and Florida. The Apothecary (I am completely in love with this scent! I ordered more less than 4 hours after getting the sample, if that tells you anything) Othello Old Glasgow - bright, crisp heather on swaying grass Old Shanghai - sparkling lemon and tea, among other things Lightning Embalming Fluid

I need help with a database.

Access is pretty much the "perfect" way to keep track of your information. You enter the info into fields, and then you can ask it to query for certain info. For example, you want to see everyone who's ever ordered Snake Oil. You can get a list of that. You want to see everyone you've shipped out to in the last week. That, too. When you have your database set up exactly how you want it, you can create a little form that pops up with the field names and you just fill in the blanks. I'm teaching myself Access, and got a pretty easy book - Quick Course in Access2000 - from Microsoft Press (mspress.microsoft.com) that gets you started. I've managed to slog though it enough to change our office info over from Excel to Access, but I call a friend for help with more complicated stuff. I'm waiting for the staff learning series here at the university to have their once-a-semester class on using the program for those kinds of details. You might look into a local vo-tech type program if you're wanting a faster start than learning from the book. Let me know what you decide to use. A university I attended previously provided copies of Office XP Professional, which has Works, Excel, Access, and more. For some reason, they sent me two sets of discs, and when I tried to return the extra set, was told to keep it, as it was more trouble to accept the return than to have me keep it. Might keep you from having to buy new software ... Good luck - and congratulations on having created something so wonderful you can't keep up with all the requests for it!

    Carnivàle

I hate it when I come across a BPAL I don't like, and this one, unfortunately, was one of the few. I get the impression of a wad of Juicy Fruit gum laying in a backed-up sewer. Apropos of Carnivale, to a degree, but not something I'll be able to wear. I will say that everyone else I know who's tried it was much more pleased with the scent. Perhaps a body chemistry thing, so don't rule it out.

    Unseelie

Unseelie changes with wear, as all BPALs do; a touch of powder-dusted floral transfigures dried grasses and the slightest hint of something herbal and green. A light scent with plenty of staying power, I ordered the large bottle of this one after using all of the sample in a five minute orgy of perfume application, wanting this scent to completely envelop me. Absolutely divine.

    Samhain

Aah. Just thinking about this one makes me sigh with pleasure. Somewhere between pumpkin pie and a caramel apple, but with enough autumn leaves and wood to keep it from being overwhelmingly foody. Stayed rich and vibrant throughout the day, with the poor guy who sat behind me in my December cram-an-entire-semester-in-10-loooong-days-of-class History section talking at each break about how he just wanted to it to be fall again and didn't know why he couldn't stop thinking about it. I doubt you'll see this one up for swap or on EBay, as it's one that will likely be hoarded.
