in bottle:
flowers, I think lotus? A cross between lily and carnation…
wet:
lemon with patchouli and woods
dry:
same but jasmine and rose are there now, a nice meditative mix. Went through brief nose tickle phase but it passed. At times this is heavier floral than I prefer.
overall:
nice, I'll try again but it's not what I was hoping for.

O
in Ars Amatoria
in bottle:
yes it's sexy - musky roses? With incense?
wet:
I wasn't sure what amber smelt like, but this seems to fit the description perfectly. A sexy scent, very seductive but not in your face
dry:
more of the same! I do like it a lot, but it would be worn more when on the prowl for the way it makes me feel sexy.
Overall:
A keeper!

Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk.
in bottle:
very alcoholy (trad perfumey…) smells like a perfume my mom would wear. seems like it will be heavy, not impressed (yet) - those were my first notes, now i've tried wearing it a week after that. WHAT was I thinking? It WAS the very first BPAL ever sniffed, and I guess I mis-read the musk.
wet:
slightly fruity with tea/musk. Much better than my first impression!
dry:
berries come out more. I keep sniffing as it gently morphs constantly but the notes never seem to change, just different ones move to the front or they age and change…
overall:
lovely!!! Only complaint is it didn't last as long, 4 hours and it was completely gone, most of the others were 6-8….

in the bottle:
herbally and a little cinnamon
first impressions on:
I can smell the orange and thyme - very herbally, nice blend
wearing it:
went SLIGHTLY soapy then passed, around that time also bothered my nose/throat just a little. Smells ok, but not great. by the end of the day it was fairly pleasant, but nowhere near that nice for the majority of the time.
overall:
not for me.

in the bottle:
sweet fruity floral - cantelope or honeydew melon hits me
first impressions on:
melon melon melon. As it dries some flowers join in, sweet but not sickening to me (yet anyway)
wearing it:
stays the same - borderline too sweet, but I still like it!
overall:
I have to be in the right mood for this. I'll definitely use the imp, we'll see about more….

i'm still VERY new at this, but my favorite so far is Kathmandu - smells like root or birch beer! then it mellows into cedar/sandalwood/incense. you may be interested in that, although maybe you are looking for less spice for summer? anyway, now i'll have to try some voodoo
-
bottle:
some menthol here - no wait it smells like - root beer??? Really it does. Good homemade root/birch beer (or birch bark from the tree)
first impressions on:
birch beer still (I'm talking the homemade pennsylvania dutch kind!), with some deeper spices underneath. Rounds out more as it dries, smelling more sandalwood and other things.
wearing it:
an invigorating medtitation/spiritual scent. Comforting and exotic at the same time…. Woody and spicy but fresh.
overall:
if it's this good each time I use it, definitely bottle time!!! (reservations about how long it lasts based on other reviews, I'll see. i may be reviewing prematurely hehe)
rating: 10/10
(Edited for new rating system (1-10 rather than 1-5) - this is still a favorite!!!)

in the bottle:
wildflowers
first impressions on:
green grass and wildflowers… I don't smell much berry. Very nice and refreshing, perfect for a spring day. Lightly sweet not sickening, the grass notes help keep it fresh.
wearing it:
dry the berries are still subtle but they're there. Smells amazing! Like youth, and spring. Reminds me of Demeter's "wet garden" which I love, only this lasts longer
overall:
Love it, would consider a bottle when I run out of the imp.

in bottle:
yum some menthol - very much a dark marine scent
first impressions on:
very minty when wet. As it dries deeper notes come out, woodsy (the juniper), herbally but still mint - a nice complexity, I was a little afraid that the mint would remain as strong as first sniff but that's not the case.
wearing it:
I really like the way this ages - wet, it was a "wake you up" type of scent, but now it's a wonderful calming blend. Really nice!
overall:
I can really see myself getting a bottle of this after the imp runs out…

second day of bpal (got my first order yesterday, tried shanghai last night)
in bottle:
smells a little like my favorite (unlabeled no name/source, it was a gift) incense… yeah i know that does not help you at all lol!
first impressions on skin:
yum - yes it is like my incense, I see great potential in this one. I smell the verbena along with just an incense smell. As it dries the mild spiciness of the other scents come out more.
later:
I smell more cedar/sandalwood. It's not as light as before but I think I like it still. It's a warm comforting scent.
Overall:
I like it - not enough for a bottle yet, but I will definitely wear again.
rating: 6/10
ETA: Wore this for the second time during PMS and it went soapy!! trying again tonight, so far, no soap. it just may be a borderline scent, I'll see if i have to downgrade my rating...
ETA: changed rating system and downgraded this one.

my first BPAL ever worn and my first review ever!!!!
(I got my first order yesterday and as i smelled all the imps, i am in AWE of how you guys can pick out notes!!!! i don't think i can come close with most of them, but i'll put in my 2 cents anyway!)
from bottle:
i get the impression of heather and wild roses - floral but not too heavy. (and wondered if i opened the wrong one...) (i didn't look up the official description until after smelling the bottles for my first impression)
on skin:
I love the clean light floral but fresh scent. Very light on, I can smell the honeysuckle now. So much lighter and better balanced than smelling the bottle. Love it!
later:
oh I wanted to love this. I did love this. But 5 minutes after I slathered it on (weaker than in the bottle!) I was going out the door and it went soapy/powdery. Not a bad soapy, but not good. I threw some black cat on to try to save the day, it helped but I now have to try that alone because the soapiness stayed a long time.
overall:
I may try again in another product or hair, not on skin. But I think I'll have to pass on this one.
sigh. not what i hoped for as my first BPAL experience. good thing there are another 500 or so to try

in the bottle:
cherries and flowers…tulips? Roses?
wet:
cherry cough drops! Just a bit of spice or cinnamon underneath…
dry:
the cherry mellows and gets spicier (the woods?) yummy. Didn't last long (3 hours) and I have a headache now (I think it's unrelated but I wanted to keep track of it here)
overall:
Nice, wish it would last longer, need to try again to make sure it didn't cause my headache!
rating: 9/10
ETA: no, headaches are daily due to seasonal allergies. Upgrading this wonderful scent to a 9 rating!
