  1. I got this as a frimp in my latest order. something smelled weird in the box and I couldn't figure out what it was. this morning I inspected the four frimps I got and discovered that Bordello had a leaky cap - eek! this is only my second decapitated imp so far (knock on wood).

anyway, Bordello smells terrible to me. it's cloying and something in it makes me go "yuck." unfortunately I think I may have gotten a little bit on my clothes this morning while I inspected the imps, so I can smell it every now and then... and now I'm worried that I reek. blah.

  2. ....!

I was iffy on ordering this Moon because I had no idea what some of the notes smelled like. I took a chance and ordered a bottle, and I'm really glad I did.

this is incredibly beautiful. it's spicy and smoky, but not overly so. I can't pick out notes to save my life, but I can smell some kind of tangy flower in there, and maybe a bit of ginger.

Chrysanthemum Moon is amazing. I'm going to hang on to this bottle and wear it often. :P

  3. this scent does seem airy - is this the ozone note that people mention? I haven't been able to pick it out before. I think I smell neroli (based on how a friend's neroli essential oil smells) and maybe something faintly minty.

edit: after looking through the other reviews here, I recognize the lavendar too!

  4. this is musky and warm. it's a bit smoky too - someone said it was a little like a new-age store, and I can definitely see that. something about the scent makes me think "red."

  5. this smells almost cloyingly sweet on me, and for some reason I'm thinking I smell bananas. I need to figure out that that banana-note is because I know it's come up before. this one's definitely getting swapped.

edit: 10 minutes later and it's totally disappeared on my skin. yep, away it goes!

  6. I love autumn and I love pumpkin scents - I thought I'd fall in love with Jack.

I do smell pumpkins and spice, but after a few minutes of wear, the pumpkin turns overly buttery and smells an awful lot like a scented candle. :P

  7. I'm learning that carnation is a good note on me.

this is spicy and sweet at the same time. after a little while it's more creamy, but with that zing of carnation in the background.

    I really like this.

  8. the Moon is my very favorite Tarot card, so I was looking forward to this oil!

however... it's not for me. I think there's jasmine in here, and that note just doesn't smell good on me; its gets overpowering and way too flowery. it's a very feminine scent, somewhat watery.

  9. when I sniffed this in the vial, I jumped back immediately - whoa, that's strong! once on my skin, it smelled like cookies and smoke. (that may be the strangest description I've come up with for a BPAL oil.) after it dried a bit, I got lots of cinnamon with a hint of smoke in the back.

I don't know why, but I like this one.

  10. I'm going through my tarot deck, one card per day, to help me learn the cards better. I'm testing the tarot oils for my card of the day at the same time - after all, scent is strongly linked to memory!

this oil, in the imp, smells very strongly of vetiver (a note I try to avoid). I put a little bit on one wrist anyway... I've played around with BPAL enough to know that the smell of the oil in the bottle often does not match the smell of the oil on your skin.

it smells smokey - and is there wood in there? cedar maybe? I can definitely smell the vetiver still.

not a scent I particularly like, but I agree that it's very fitting for Death.

  11. overly sweet - it reminds me a little of cough syrup in the bottle for some reason. I smell bubblegum when I put it on my wrists (is this lotus? I've read about people getting bubblegum from lotus notes). I'm also getting an impression of something watery.

  12. this one is hard to pin down. I definitely get something spicy - and is there something herbal in the background? something kind of sharp. I also smell the dragon's blood in the background.

9.26.06 - apparently I forgot that I'd already reviewed this... heh. my impression of it today:

whew - this one is full of cinnamon! in the imp I can really smell the vetiver, a note that rarely works on me. it does all right in this blend, but it's so spicy and strong that I doubt I'd wear it. however, I'm going to pass the imp along to a vetiver-loving friend of mine. :P

  13. for some reason, this reminds me a little bit of bananas when I first put it on. it's lightly fruity and floral - not completely in-your-face but you can tell it's there. once it dries, I get a hint of something golden... amber, maybe? it's a quiet kind of strength, very nice.

  14. I have bottle DCCCXXXVI, which (according to this) is #836.

I am terrible at picking out notes, so this review may not be the most informative!

in the bottle, the oil smells kind of green. maybe pine? there's something else kind of sweet too.

on me, it definitely smells like pine, but also a little soapy. I don't think I like this too much - I'll see if I can swap it for another CT3... maybe something a bit more foody!

  15. in the bottle, and when it's freshly applied, this scent is absolutely beautiful: it's golden and warm. however, after it's had a chance to settle down on my skin, it reminds me of a cleaning product. noooo! :P

edit: I didn't wash it off last night, wondering if the scent would morph.. and it did, into a warm golden vanillaish scent. yum! so the wet stage is beautiful, and the drydown is beautiful, but the in-between stage is not so appealing. I will have to experiment with this scent a little bit to determine if I want to keep it or swap it.

  16. I love autumn - the scents, the colors, all of it. this scent is autumn in a bottle. I smell apples, spices, cherry - something else I can't quite place, but it's kind of herbal - YUM. I'm utterly in love with this scent. :P after it dries down a bit, I smell wood... it reminds me a bit of the woodsmoke of campfires (another autumn scent I adore).

my husband likes it too. he sniffed the bottle and said, "I love this - it smells like gummi bears!" well, whatever floats his boat...! at least we'll both enjoy me wearing this scent :D
