  1.

I'm looking for some suggestions. :) I wear these the most frequently and feel most like myself when I do. I'm open to both GC and LE, but I would especially love to find an everyday, GC scent. To complicate things, I can't wear anything with amber in it. :cry2:

    1. Haloes - Oak, tonka, vanilla, white sandalwood, lily of the valley, white ginger, amber, and apricot.

    2. Snow White - A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers.

    3. Aristocratic Couple - Bourbon vanilla, preserved apricot, and cardamom.

    4. Womb Furie - An itch that needs to be scratched: Snake Oil and three types of honey.

    5. Dorian - A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea.

I am having a hard time thinking of things that don't have amber....hmmm. I got nothing for your first two, sorry!

Well if you like Aristocratic Couple, maybe try Pandy Fresh white musk, honeycomb, sweet apricot, elemi, orange blossom, and mischievous pink pepper. or Depraved Earthy black patchouli swelling with apricot.

Since you love Womb Furie, have you tried Snake Oil? Or Tombeur Deadly and seductive: vanilla-infused sandalwood, blood musk, antique patchouli, vetiver, lavender, bitter almond, amber, and a trickle of Snake Oil.

And since you like Dorian, I would try Famine Sleek black tea, tobacco leaf, frankincense, lilac, and white musk. and maybe also Theodosius, the Legerdemain Earl Grey tea leaves, a white fougere, jasmine leaf, pearlescent white musk, and vanilla bean.

I know, it makes it very difficult! :( I haven't found a single blend I can wear with amber at this point. edit: except haloes, apparently?? weird.

I actually haven't tried any of these! Tombeur and Pandy sound especially lovely. I will definitely try to track down some partials or decants. Thank you so much. :wub2:

  3. Oh my gosh, I smell like grandma soap.

It was SO pretty when I first put it on. Really lovely, heady florals, and I am not a florals gal. It lasted for about 15 minutes, but quickly morphed into something more sinister.

However.. On my first day of wearing, my long distance boyfriend came online and let me know that he'll be in the area this weekend and we may finally get to meet.

I'm totally okay with smelling like a bar of soap if it brings joy like this to my life. Thank you so much!

  4. My suggestion may not be the greatest because I generally dislike florals.. but here are my two. :)

Les Bijoux - Skin musk and honey, blood-red rose, orange blossom, white peach, red apple, frankincense and myrrh.

The Temptation - attar of rose, calla lily, palmarosa, peach blossom, wisteria, rice flower, and black musk.

I got mostly peach and light florals from both of these, with a lot of honey from Les Bijoux. I do amp peach and honey, though.

  5. Imp: It smells like lime popsicles.

Wet: Lime scented dryer sheets and soap. :( Yikes, giving me a headache.

Dry: As it dries, it veers away from dryer sheets and soaps.

Drydown: The lime has faded, it's pretty much all powder and florals now. This is too girly for my liking.

  6. I could be way off mark, but..

Perhaps the original imp was Apple of Sodom, just very aged? Since it smelled kind of "off" maybe it had gone bad. Just a thought. :)

This is the exact thread I was looking for!

Back before I decided I was really getting into BPAL, and needed to keep track of what I was receiving & from whom I was receiving it, I received an imp that's labeled "Apple of Sodom". The liquid in the imp is a darker, almost brownish colour, and has a more woodsy-smell. The smell is a little "off" to me, so I stuck it in the "eh, not for me" stack.

A little later, I received another imp of "Apple of Sodom" which is a clearer, pale, almost yellow-green (or green-yellow) colour, and smells decisively of green apples. This means I have NO CLUE what the original imp is (or from whom I received it). Any suggestions? Thoughts?

  7. That was one of the first I tried as well. :)

    I'd recommend..

Les Bijoux - Skin musk and honey, blood-red rose, orange blossom, white peach, red apple, frankincense and myrrh.

White Rabbit - Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen.
