A World Where There Are Octobers

I just got my bottle of this today, and oh man. I really really love this. In the bottle there's an herbal, green smell with just a tad of sharpness and almost a citrusy scent. On me it dries down to a sweet, rich, woody smell with a bit of smokiness. It definitely reminds me of a bright, crisp, autumn day with beautiful bright leaves all around. Gorgeous!

    Poisoned Apple

I got two frimps of this in an order last month, and oh man, when I popped the caps off to smell everything this was the first scent I HAD to try. Sweet, juicy apple--to me it brings to mind a shiny red apple with bright white flesh--with just a hint of something more sinister beneath it. This scent is perfectly named, and perfectly executed in my humble opinion. On my skin it's consistently apple for the entire length of its duration, with just that murky bit of darkness beneath it. Love it!!

    Martian Phoenix

This scent is totally a sleeper hit for me. I bought it because I couldn't resist the Mars association (I'm an Aries, ha!), even though the description didn't make me feel like it was a must-have. Turns out it's a wonderful, darkly spicy, slightly woodsy, rich fruity scent on me. I like it so much I haven't tried any of the frimps that came with my order yet, I've just worn Martian Phoenix! I don't really get the peppermint note strongly, which is a bit of a disappointment because I love peppermint, but there is a slight sharpness to the woodsy-ness behind the scent that I would guess is the work of the peppermint.

    The Tears of Lilith

This scent is very fruity and heady on me, and I'm not really getting any of the wine or rose (sad!) but I am getting some nondescript floral, which might be the rose's influence. I'm not familiar enough with red musk and how it smells on me to know if that's what's really coming through, but based off of others' descriptions I'm guessing it's the culprit. As the scent dries on me some sweetness comes through and softens the headiness a bit, which is nice. Overall I'm a tad disappointed that it's not the wine poured over roses that other folks are describing, but I do like what it is, so I'll hang onto it.

    Inferno

In the imp: sweet cinnamon. The almond definitely comes through, and it's not quite Red Hots or another cinnamony candy to me, but that description totally makes sense. Wet: Instant almond, in a burst. It's amazing, but it's gone super quick, like, within 5 minutes. It's the most volatile top note in any perfume I've tried so far. It's followed immediately by amazing, rich, red-hot cinnamon, and like others have said, this one burns me and makes my skin turn lobster red as soon as the cinnamon comes out if I'm not careful. I mitigate this a few ways: no wearing it on my neck or the insides of my elbows (ever), and no putting it on right out of the shower. After I shower I dry off, get dressed, put lotion on, and I can apply Inferno to my wrists and it's fine. Drydown: all cinnamon all the time! Really warm cinnamon. No neroli, the cinnamon is totally overpowering. This is awesome for me, because I love cinnamon. The nice thing too is that it never turns into that cheap craft store potpourri type of cinnamon. Good lasting power, though it fades more quickly than other BPAL scents. I love Inferno, though I have to be super careful about the burning.
