In the imp: Opium with a sexy, dark undertone. Animalisitic? Yup. Wet: Same as in the imp, only the opium is stronger now Mmm. I love the way it smells. Dry 5 min: The opium is fading, or being overpowered by the dark notes. Dry 10 min: Animalistic is dead on accurate. The opium is completely gone and I smell sort of like a barnyard. With musk. It's not bad but it's not pleasant, either. Dry 1 hour: Okay, BAD. It's a total barnyard scent on me with all the sweet opium gone and only the worst of the civet is out to play. If I concentrate I can catch the nicer edge of the civet as a last-second scent, but I don't really want to concentrate. Great throw on it, though. Dry 3 hours: Well, I've attempted to wash it off several times to no avail--the civet scent clings to me. I tried to layer some Kumiho (nice, clean scent) over it and it ate it in about five minutes. Which is too bad...when the civet is subdued it's adds a very sexy edge to a scent. Overall: The civet isn't a bad smell when it's a background note...sadly, it doesn't stay that way on me. I'm going to try to find something to layer over it because I DO like the edge the civet gave this on first sniff. I'm also going to have Mr. Circe give it a shot (hey, he got lucky last time!) and will post as I discover more. Edit: Sister-of-Circe called this scent 'End-of-the-day head shop clerk body oder' when she smelled it on Circe (sniffing from about a foot or so away from the source).

This was a scent I got because a friend told me it smells like 'a hot guy in a bottle'. It smells like Mr. Circe! Seriously, when we were first dating (back in highschool) he had something that smelled very similar to this, which they stopped making. I'm going to be getting Mr. Circe a big bottle of this and using it as a room scent (or wearing it myself) when he goes for his business trips. The scent itself: It's masculine without being 'musky'. It's floral without being 'girly'. It's a combination of sweet and citrus and just a hint of musk. I love Beth for this one. Mr. Circe in a bottle. So, the results of a night of slapping it on Mr. Circe and sniffing: Wet: Citrus with a hint of something herbal. There's something sweet to soften the tang, and something that darkens it all just a bit. Dry 10 minutes: Almost the same as the wet, a bit more musk. NOT 'musk' musk, but a light musk (which is probably the citrus). Still tangy-sweet with a herbal note. Dry 1 hour: Spicy-tangy-sweet with a bit of darkenss. Dry 2+ hours: Still the same and somehow warm beneath the cool citrus and lavender smell. I am so going to jump him. Lasts about five, six hours on Mr. Circe and it simply fades away without really changing much...the lilac fades off first and then the citrus. On me (because I got it on my hands opening it): Smells like wearing Mr. Circe's t-shirt. Never really changes and it hangs around a good five hours.

    Kumiho

Oh, this is so lovely! In the imp: A very crisp tea. Wet: Less tea, more ginger--a sort of sweet-lemon scent. Dry 5 min: Still tea and sweet-lemon. It's a very clean, simple scent. So lovely and nice. Dry 30 min: Same lovely scent. Not a bad throw on it, either. Dry 1 hour: It's going a bit powdery, but the scent is still true and the powder just softens it without really changing it. Dry 2 hours: Wow, this had faded fast. It's still there but I have to be close to smell it. Dry 3 hours: It's a nice, close little scent that hasn't changed at all from the one-hour scent Fades fast, but it's still there. It's a 'snuggle me and smell it' deal. Which I don't object to and my son and the baby seem to find it fascinating. Overall: This is a lovely, simple scent that stays really true. Depending on how the other imps move me, this could be a big-bottle scent for me (because I bet it'd also be great as a room scent for those stuffy-winter nights and hot, humid summer days) and I'm certainly going to keep an imp of it around.

    Manila

My first review! I want to love this scent. My twin sister's best friend (a womanl I enjoy very muchly as well) lives near Manila and we, the Wisconsin bound, would one day really like to meet Sakura-san. So for now, this. In the imp: Incense. With Fake bananas. Also: Ouch. Something about this was like an ice-pick to the brain. Wet: Ouch! More ice picking happening and I'm starting to feel sick. Still incense with fake banana. Very incense, which I assume is the narra. Dry 5 min: I am terribly afraid that I'm going to have to wash this one off. The fake-banana (which, does, actually smell more green than ripe) and the incense are vying for attention; I feel sick and headache-y. Dry 30 min: Must. Wash. Off. Good news is, not much throw on this...my son didn't smell it until I hugged him off to half-day pre-K. It's a close scent which swirls up. A lot, apparently. I feel like I'm going to throw up, actually. Dry 1 hour: Washed off with soap and water and with rubbing alcohol. It has staying power because I can still smell it! But the headache is gone and, while I'm still a little queasy, I no longer feel like I'm about to throw up. Which is actually good because...something is happening. The banana smell is just about gone, leaving just green-banana scent, very faintly. Something sweet and lush has come out to play and the incense smell has calmed down. There is also a humid feeling to the smell--not wet or damp, humid. It's pleasant. Dry 2 hours: The wood/incense note has softened a lot and it really grounds the sweet smell of the blossoms (I'd say 'florals' but there's something sharper to it, like jasmine, with a kick). There's a hint of humid 'green' and, yup, some fruit. Not just banana, though that's there too. I'm sort of glad it survived the wash. Dry 3 hours: Sort of a creamy-sweet, with a note of wood/incense. Still has that warm, humid scent, too. Overall, it's tropical and very nice. It'd be a good scent for summer--it's light and cheerful. Not worth the hour-long headache and sickness, though. Dry 5 hours: Still haning in there, though it's gone to a soapy smell, now. Not a bad smell, just...soapy. I'm going to try it as a bath-scent and I'll update when I do.
