Oh, this is wonderful! Normally I'm not a fan of mint but this blend makes it work for me! I think because it's a complex scent; on the surface it's all mint--very cool and sharp but there's something warm about it and fresh and almost floral (and almost tea and almost a lot of things) that keeps it from being 'mint' to me. Lovely! I love Growwild for giving me this!

Got this as a frimp from the ever-lovely Growwild. In the imp this is a beautiful scent--all water and lilies and roses. On me? Nothing but rose. Nothing. And while I love roses this is just too powerful. Oh, curse my skin and it's rose-worshipping ways! Edit: It makes a really lovely, light room scent, btw.

    Magus

Got this as a frimp in the last order (yay the Labbies love me and I love them!). This is a very sweet, smoky, resinous blend on me. It smells deep and warm and not powerful, but strong. It lies fairly close to the skin and lasts middling-long on me. Lasts longer on Mr. Circe, and damn does he smell good in it. It does smell woody, but it's not a dry scent--there's something to (probalby the High John) that keeps it from being dry.

    Laudanum

I got this as a frimp from the Lab (thank you, Labbies! *blows kiss*) and once I sniffed it I had to look it up and see the description. Because 'aguished desire' is pretty much what it evoked in me. Like I was yearning towards some hopeless end. I LOVED it. It is very strong and it does have a great throw and it lasts ages, too. It's all wood and spice and something floral-y sweet. And yes, rootbeer and anise (but without BEING anise, which hates me) and nutmeg. There's a warmth to it (probably the myrrh) and that sweetly, windblown floral that is poppies. It's a scent that makes me *ache* before it settles in--a perfect scent to write with.

    Les Fleurs du Mal

I smell like a funeral. I really, really do. That heavy, almost cloying scent of roses mixed with other really sweet, strong florals--it almost smells like lillies, but it's just the lilac and wisteria mating. It's really strong, too--just a drop on the wrist and across the room my kids looked up at me and asked 'what's that?'. Lasts ages. Very not me, and it gave my husband bad memories of his mother's funeral last winter so I washed it off (which is how I know it survives several washings). My middle daughter loves it, however, and it doesn't go overpowering on her (she's nine) so I gave her the imp. It's a lovely scent, but I've got too much baggage that goes with it.

In the imp: Smells like a good orange sauce. Wet: Very rosemary, with some citrus. Dry: ROSES! Which, damn it, is all my skin will give me after the first twenty minutes. And I love roses, but the fruity-spicy sort, not the traditional blend. I'm glad this was a frimp from the lab because otherwise it would have broke my heart after the first twenty minutes. I really like this in the initial stages. It's green and tangy.

    Queen

Honey, cloves, and violets is what I got from this lovely little frimp (Thanks, Labbies!). It goes powder soft on me after a little while but it's very nice--it's got a little bit of spice to it. It's got a nice throw on it when applied alone and it's got staying power--I dumped most of the imp in the tub before I went out for the evening and still smelled lovely the next morning (it lays close to the skin when mixed in the bath).

    High John the Conqueror

My middle child had this to say about High John: It smells like purple. Not grape, *purple*. And she's right. It smells like the color purple should smell. There's cherry for the fruity part and something woody and spicy for making it darker than 'red' and something sort of earthy underneath and something almost floral. It's such a *happy* scent while wet and it settles into this confident, smiling scent as it dries. It reminds me of those blue morning glories that my mother has that climb all over her back deck rails. Certainly a positive scent--makes me feel like nothing can go wrong. I'm going to have to consider a big bottle of this one. for the Labbie who frimped me this one.

    Snow-Flakes

My skin eats this in about an hour--for which I am very sadly glad. I get nothing but cucumber mint out of it. I was hoping for cold ozone and I got nothing but a chill salad with mint. I'd really wanted some thing cool and wintery to wear when summer swings back around but this isn't going to be it, I fear. Eta: Upon closer inspection, this smells exactly like Dove Nutrium Cool Cucumber hand lotion.

    Twenty-One

Got this is a frimp on my last order and it's not one I'd have ever picked for myself. That said... Omg love. This is, start to finish, a clean, crisp scent on my that never really changes as it dries down. Juniper berries and gin is a good description. It's very effervescent--it reminds me of neon-lights and jazz. And there's this great, dirty edge to it. It's not a sophisticated scent, but it's a good scent for when you want to feel sophisticated without being uptight or upscale, methinks. Not an everyday scent but it's great for a night out.

    Clio

This wears *very* herbal on me. For the first minute or so it's very oranges and amber and then the lavender comes up and overthrows it all. It goes to herbal soap after about half an hour and two hours later, she is gone.

    Imp

For the first few minutes, it was lovely. Incense and amber and sweetness that kept it from being head-shop like. I saw the phrase 'dirty fruit' somewhere in this thread and that's pretty accurate. In a *good* way. Sadly, peach does NOT sit well on my skin. After about ten minutes it turns into sour, sharp grapefruit. It gives me an incredible headache after about an hour. Curse you, body chemistry, curse you.

    Somnus

I got this one for my sister, the insomniac, so it's all her opinions: Lavender, rosemary, and something that smells like roses, but isn't. It's pleasant if a bit sharply herbal. However, even a small dose wears so strong that it keeps her up. She keeps noticing the fragrance and it keeps her awake. She has had some weirdly vivid dreams while wearing it, however. Sadly, it just wasn't what she was looking for.

    Umbra

Umbra is dark and deep and lovely. Mr. Circe spilled it on our checkbook and cashiers have been stopping to sniff the check and ask about it. It is very incense-y as a room scent (or a checkbook scent) but there is this gorgeous darkness to it...I'm in love.

    Enraged Bunny Musk

In the bottle: Soft, spicy green, if that makes sense. I went 'oo!' Wet: Smells like a spicy powder. Still going 'oo!' Dry 10 minutes: It smells like nuzzling a bunny feels. It's white and soft but there's something more that gives it substance, which is probably the musk. Dry 30 minutes: It honestly smells like nuzzling a bunny feels and I can't get over it. Soft and green and white and musky...nuzzling a bunny, not just some soft fluffy thing. Dry 1 hour: Wears down to just the musk and florals, but it's a green-ish white floral. I miss the spicy, but this is still nice. Honestly, I expect this given my skins desire to eat any scent not heavily grounded with incense. Dry 2 horus: It IS an enraged bunny. It was more than happy to be nuzzled at first and now it's not that happy. Musk and powder-green. Final notes: This scent definately lives up to it's name. It's probably a perfect spring scent. I sort of wish I'd ordered another bottle.

    Black Cat

This is a playful scent on me. It's definately a rose scent, but there is a spiciness to it and something clean to keep the rose from being too sweet or cloying. Could be mint, because it's a sharp clean and the spiciniess reminds me of carnations (not that it smells like carnations, but the same kind of spicy-flower scent, if you take my meaning). Sadly, my skin devours this in about two hours and turns it into a very herbal soap smell for the last ten or fifteen minutes, too. My daughters adore it, however, and it stays true on them for ages (they're 9 and 11).

    The Apothecary

This is lovely and complex on my skin, a constant shifting of woods and tea and moss. For the most part it's a lot like a fresh cup of black tea and an open window to the herb garden, but there's this woody, mossy scent that makes it *more*. It's not nearly as heavy a scent as I thought it'd be and got a clean edge to it that keeps it from being broody.

    Brisingamen

This scent is almost entirely amber and apples on me. I get almost no floral but a nice smell of apple blossoms and bit of apple wood cozied up to that round, golden-y amber smell. ETA: This scent gets almost no throw on me but, for a 'lighter' scent, it sticks around a good four or five hours.

    Pele

This one was a frimp from the Lab (thanks, Lab!). In the imp: White floral and powder. Wet: Mostly ginger, with bit of powder. Dry 10 minutes: This is a very humid scent. The flowers, the powder, the ginger is all there but some how they're all held in this smell that is exactly like humid, summer air. Dry 30 minutes: This scent stays close to the skin and gets softer as time goes by. The ginger fades down so this is a clean (not quite crisp) white, powdery floral. Still that round, hot summer feel to it. Dry 1 hour: My skin eats these lighter scents so it's almost gone on me. It's still a really pretty scent, just very faint. Final notes: This is a really pretty blend and it makes me think of tropical beaches. Perfect for winter days when I want to remember the summer. Not so perfect for days like today, where it's nearing ninety with a nearly matching humidity.

    Ravenous

This is a fairly simple blend and it stays that way on me. A nice, sweet patchouli that has a tart orange tang to it. It's very earthy and deep for all its simplicity. I lose the oranges after a few hours but the red patchouli sticks around for ages. And I don't know how this blend manages 'feral' but it really sort of *does*.

    Dragon Moon 2006

I could weep with joy. I finally (finally!) found cherry blossoms that will stay on my skin! In the bottle: Tea and bamboo. Very green and vigorous. Wet: Bamboo, laden with cherry blossoms and a sniffle of tea. Dry 5 minutes: Cherry blossoms! With a strong, green backing of bamboo and tealeaf. I am not smelling sandalwood or dragons blood. Dry half an hour: There supposed to be dragons blood and sandalwood, right? Because I have bamboo and cherry blossoms, with the tea wafting in and out but I'm not getting wood or resin. Dry 1 hour: Oh, my cherry blossoms, so sweet and delicate. And that lovely, herbal green of bamboo. The tea is still curling in and out like steam from a cup, and it's so pretty--it's just like springtime. Dry 2+hours: Aha! The cherry blossoms and the bamboo have settled in (i.e. my skin is beginning to nibble away at them) and I think I have something that might be the sandalwood or dragons blood. Otherwise it's just like it was an hour ago, only quieter. Dry 3+hours: Now I'm getting the dragons blood and sandalwood for sure! It's just a grounding note for the tea, bamboo, and cherry blossoms, but it's a spice and warmth to the green and vigor. Overall: This is very green, and herbl...but also bright and happy and strong, with a warmth backing the cool green. It really is perfect for spring. I feel so happy and...well...vigorous wearing this.

    Tum

In the imp: Star anise and something...sweet? flowery? Wet: Star anise and something sweet and sort of citrusy. My first thought was oranges, or mock oranges. Maybe ylang ylang. Dry 5 minutes: Sorry to say my skin goes 'star anise? STAR ANISE!!!' and jumps up and down hugging the star anise in a strangle-hold. Which it continues to do (amping it to the point where I start to go 'is this civet? it's starting to go to civet, only without the barnyard bit yet') for the next hour+. Dry 2 hours: The star anise has settled down and the ylang-ylang-citrus is back. With something sweet and slightly floral. Almost. I also really want some Chinese food right about now. Dry 2 hours, 30 minutes: The anise has really settled in and is sharp and almost minty--reminds me of pennyroyal. Still with the ylang-ylang scent over laying it. Dry 3 hours: Something green is peeking out. Herbal and...woody? Is that bamboo? I'm sniffing enough to give myself a headache (too much star anise will do that to me, however, as Kyoto proved) so I'm going to sum up what I've got in the... Final notes: This continues to be mostly star anise on me...because my skin is just that way. I'll slap it on my twin sister later and check back in with her results (her skin does not act like star anise is its bestest best friend ever omg!11!) BUT...once it gets past that star anise scent, I really like this. It's got a terrific throw on it and it's...complex. Spicy and strangely green-floral-herbal-sweet. It's exotic and deep and still familar. ETA: Strong and still throwing after five+ hours. This is probably because of my skin's deep need to show off the star anise, however. EDIT: Moved this post from Unreleased Scents into the existing Tum review thread. --Shollin

    Chimera

In the imp: Myrrh with a little honey. Wet: cinnamon--but not a dry, powdery cinnamon. A wet, sweet cinnamon. Dry 10 minutes: Very warm and spicy cinnamon, but sweetened with a bit of something sweet. Dry 30 minutes: A very sweet cinnamon. Not foody, by a spicy, sharp sweetness. There's a golden tone to it--honey and amber, with a touch of bitterness--which is probably why it doesn't smell 'foody' to me. Dry 1 hour: A honeyed spice, warm with a slightly bitter-resin note grounding it. The weetness of the honeysuckle is just right with the golden amber scent of the copal. Dry 2 hours: Now down to a spiced honey-amber but still neither foody nor flowery and I'll chalk that up to the somber note of myrrh. It's a very warm scent. Final note: I really love this one. It's fiery and sweet, warm and golden and backed with the down-to-earth myrrh.
  24. My five-year old son loves Fenris Wolf and Villian. He makes his teacher give him a sniff when he wears them. Miss F., if you're here, hi! It's Ben's mom! My two year old daughter loves bpal too...Eclipse and Kitsune-Tsuki. I'm very careful what I put on the baby, though, because she's a baby. But she got into my Bloodlust and my Grandmother of Ghosts (that'll teach me to enable auntie!) and her skin was fine. She smelled good, too.

Can't believe I haven't left a review for this one yet! Imp: Orchids and...lillies? Wet: Orchids and jasmine. A very cool scent is right. Dry 10 minutes: Mostly orchids, that round, cool sweetness of plums and a hint of something floral. Dry 30 minutes: Still mostly orchids and still a very cool, light scent. Great throw on it, so far. The musk grounds it, but it's not very evident. Dry 1 hour: Jasmine, with the light, waxy-cool orchids keeping it cool. Alas, my plums are all gone. Dry 3 hours: The musk has come up and is keeping the florals from being too overpowering. Something about this scent reminds me of Japanese gardents. Simple, cool, and lovely. Lasts about five hours on me, but it does do a serious fade after hour three.
